SW Boot Camp

Anyone who’s been following me for some time (or even people who just found out about me, really) can easily see my love for combat boots. They literally take up more than half of my winter wardrobe, however I never stop there and I keep on wearing them even in summer time. Besides being the most comfortable things ever, they also give me a sense of badass confidence that I can’t compare with anything else. I’ve already had many different pairs of black combat boots but a white pair had been missing for a long time – I guess I was waiting for the perfect one – and I finally found Stuart Weitzman Lexy. I’ve always loved the rugged sexiness of Stuart Weitzman boots and owned a couple of pairs (including the legendary Lowland), but this one has to be my all time favorite. I don’t know if it’s the signature SW metal ring grommets, the black long laces or the perfect mid-calf length but I already started wearing it with everything, starting with a …

Best of MET Gala 2018

Fashion’s most stylish (and stylishly controversial) night has come and gone with in my opinion one of the most exciting themes ever: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. To people who don’t know what it is, MET Gala is the opening of Costume Institute’s exhibition for that year where guests are supposed to dress up according to the theme (and not take it too literal), most of which unfortunately fail every year. It’s also a night where Rihanna always wins. Always. For this year’s theme there was lots to work with; embroidery, fabrics like jacquard or velvet, religious symbols, spiritual elements (such as saint and evil), structure, shape and more importantly head pieces. If none of those work for you, it’s quite the opportunity to make a perfect statement like Lena Waithe. source: fashionista

One Lingerie Fits All

When it comes to lingerie, I’m neither a connoisseur nor an enthusiast. Lingerie to me has only one purpose and it is to provide me comfort and shape my body without pinching, hurting, squeezing or lifting any part of it. Laces, chiffons, push ups, modern day corsets, superfluous straps, bows or wires are not my friend. Always trying to figure out my bra size (which is somehow different for every brand, wasn’t it supposed to be a size that works internationally?) or worrying if my bum will fit the panties are also not my favorite daytime activities. My lingerie has to be elastic, invisible, extra comfortable and flattering at all times. But even when I’m writing these lines I realized that I’m asking for a lot, and there aren’t a lot of options out there that provide for these very basic and essential needs. Thankfully I am just recently introduced to Soft Stretch: the seamless, one size fits all, ultra comfortable and minimal line from my favorite French lingerie brand Chantelle. Safe to say I …

Into: Baroque Pearls

I never thought a day would come (before I turn 50) that I’d spend hours and hours lusting after pearl necklaces and earrings but it turns out all it takes is finding out there’s a disfigured, less polished and more rugged option out there: baroque pearls (or nucleated pearls). Thanks to brands like Esra Dandin, Sophie Buhai and 1064 Studio, we now have a lot of gorgeous options to shop from, price range $100 – thousands. Tip: pair pearl jewelry with chunky or delicate metal pieces you already own to make the look less girly and more quotidian. image sources: esra dandin, sophie buhai, w concept

Tulum Diary

Last week I was in Tulum for only 4 days, which may be too short a period of time for some people given all the expenses and the effort to go all the way from Canada, but for me it was like a therapy. It was more than a therapy really, I struggled with severe winter depression for the entire month of December (happens to me every winter unfortunately, but only gets worse and worse every year) and spending care-free time with my husband in paradise was exactly what I needed to feel alive again. Read along to see more photos of my Tulum trip, the beautiful hotel we stayed at, our favorite restaurants and touristic attractions! . White long v neck dress Tome . Best of 2018 SAG Awards Red Carpet

This year I decided not to write anything about the Golden Globe Awards red carpet neither on the blog nor on Twitter, because it was ludicrous and superficial to compete dresses on an event where the message was so much stronger than fabric. But now that the #TimesUp movement is off the red carpet and more on the stage at SAG Awards, I felt like I can go back to picking my favorite looks – because there were SOME. Even though she didn’t make many people’s lists, Saoirsie Ronan is my favorite in her pink Louis Vuitton and messy hair. She is my new red carpet star and I’m always looking forward to seeing what she’ll wear. Margot Robbie, Allison Williams and Natalia Dyer were tied for the second spot as they all looked dreamy; with Millie Bobby Brown, Yara Shahidi and Olivia Munn not so far behind… Check out my 30 favorite looks from the night! source: fashionista

NYE On The Go

New Year’s Eve is usually a grueling time for me; the pressure to have fun is so overwhelming that we end up either spending a lot of money for overpriced dinners and surge Ubers or we stay at home and I can’t get in the spirit at all that I end up getting really bored. We did both, we spent it in Turkey, spent it here in Montreal, we did it all – I can’t remember the last time I had a decent NYE celebration. Which is why this year we decided that we’ll either splurge and go out with friends to somewhere we know we’ll have fun or stay at home like it’s any other day, just dinner and movies – no expectations (possibly wearing this sweater dress, or something super cozy like this sweater). We were very much set on the latter, until we had it enough with this depressing winter and decided to head to Toronto to spend a fancy night with friends. This change of plans meant coming up with a …

Etsy Giveaway & Holiday Picks

2017 was a crazy year for me; we moved to a new house, my husband started his new job cementing our residency in Montreal, I hit over 100k on Instagram, I went to Iceland and saw Northern Lights with my own eyes, celebrated new marriages and little babies of dear friends AND I became one of the ambassadors of Etsy Canada which believe it or not, was one of the biggest highlights of my year. Etsy has always been my biggest obsession, where I found all my vintage and handmade clothes and furniture which helped me build my own unique style over almost a decade. I’ve converted many people to Etsyism and this year I took that mission to a more official and Canada-centered level. I’ve discovered so many amazing shops and their even more amazing owners. Now Etsy is not only the place I shop at but also a place I have friends at, it’s a tight community of people creating & appreciating unique and creative goods. Favorite Etsy Vintage Shops

I don’t remember the first time I discovered Etsy or the first time I started wearing vintage, but I’m guessing I’ve been a fan since my early university days. I was living in Turkey and it was hard to get everything shipped there but I still couldn’t stop myself from spending hours and hours on Etsy just looking for new shops and unique pieces. It was a whole new world to me and still to this day, the beauty of vintage never ceases to amaze me. To know that you are not harming the environment while shopping, on top of the feeling of owning a one of a kind item is unparalleled. Anyone can spend tons of money and go to a store to buy season’s hit pieces but only people with a true eye for style can know how to pick quality vintage pieces. Though with the expanding universe that is the internet, it’s getting harder and harder to narrow down the best stores and spend the time to pick the worthy pieces. I …

Blooming Into My True Self

I always make sure to surround myself with people, objects and feelings that inspire me which is probably why flowers have always been one of my biggest joys. They help me express myself in ways I can’t do with other means, create new stories every day and celebrate life – pretty much all the ideas that Gucci Bloom also revolves around. This gorgeously rich floral fragrance (with THE most beautiful bottle) has tones of blooming Rangoon creeper whose flowers turn from white to red when they bloom imparting a slightly powdery floral perfume (which is used for the first time in perfumery by the way), unique jasmine buds and authentic tuberose that brings sensuality and femininity to the overall scent. This perfume is like the holy grail of all floral fragrances, it makes a definite statement but still light and fresh at the same time – feminine in an unconventional way: much like Alessandro Michele’s groundbreaking Gucci itself. Eclectic, contemporary and romantic. Gucci Bloom celebrates the authenticity, vitality and diversity of the women who always …

Belt the Bag

I literally can’t get enough of this belt bag trend, and I have to say I’m not always this well put together when I wear one. I usually just hang it around my shoulder and forget about it –  but that’s the whole point. Whether it’s around your waist or on your shoulder, you can just forget about it. And whilst I love the style factor bags brings to outfits (+ the color factor for me) I simply can’t stand carrying something with me all day. Shopbop October Picks

As you know by now, Shopbop is not only a long-time partner of The Fashion Medley but it’s also my favorite online retailer thanks to their wide product & price range and the crazy easiness to shop from Canada (prepaid custom taxes, free shipping & returns). That’s why I visit shopbop.com everyday (yes, everyday) and save all my favorites for future reference which makes it really convenient at the time of a sale or when the time comes to make shopping lists for the blog. Not in my wardrobe they don’t. That’s why I never had winter-summer wardrobes, all of my clothes are always sitting side by side, waiting for their turn to make a surprise appearance in outfits. Best of Bridal Fall 2018

Yes, I got married more than 4 years ago. Yes, almost all of my friends (who were supposed to get married) got married. No, I’m not looking forward to having another wedding (maybe a small one to celebrate our 5th year?) and no, none of my friends asked me for advice or listened to me when I told them my opinions (because a wedding dress is an extremely personal purchase and your mom liking it is always more important than your blogger friend liking it). Having said all those things, nothing stops me from following bridal fashion weeks, lusting after beautiful gowns and dreaming about how I’d look like in one of those. Maybe I can wear one to a gala someday? Like Jennifer Lawrence, no? Just look at these beautiful dresses, 45 of them to be precise, and tell me you don’t want to wear them, even just for a little bit, around the house. source: wwd, vogue Save Save Save

Best Street Style Looks of MFW Spring 2018

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Milan and fashion in the same sentence? While for most people it’s heritage or leather or stuff like that, for me it’s always PRINTS. Followed by COLOR. And preferably a stylish mix of both; head to toe reds, prints over prints. Lots of sexy pumps walking the same streets with a parade of masculine sandals. If you need inspiration to get out of your style rut for the upcoming fall, here are my favorite picks of Milan Fashion Week street style! image sources: the impression, the cut, fashionista, vogue.fr, vogue.es Save Save Save Save Save

Jacquemus Spring 2018

Three weeks has passed and Jacquemus managed to be the first collection that dazzled me with every single piece. The styling, the details – Simon Porte Jacquemus got inspired once again by his late mother and her days in the village with a scarf around her head, ceramic earrings and a pareo tied around her waist. His mother has been his muse since day one, because he lost him at a very young age, and I think that’s how he managed to stay true to his aesthetic even though the is creating conceptually different collections each season. It has always been about her; her house, her clothes, her attitude. He has his story to tell and we are just happy to be invited to be a part of it. source: vogue Save

Best Street Style Looks of LFW Spring 2018

Two down, two more to go – the fashion week that’s the least cared about (despite giants like Burberry and stars like JW Anderson, Joseph, Rejina Pyo and so on; I don’t know why people still don’t take London seriously – to me it’s a lot more relevant than NY lately) is over now leaving a pile of Gucci fanny packs, mid-length dresses styled in not such a feminine way (my favorite!) and lots of blazers. Fanny Pack Dorks

Don’t get a wrong idea because of the title, it’s just a How I Met Your Mother reference, I in fact do not think fanny pack wearers are dorks. I think they’re practical, brilliant people. I for one never let them go, they were always my music festival bag (once you get the hands-free, shoulder-free experience there’s no turning back). I don’t know when and why exactly they fell out of style but I know for sure they are back now with a bang. And while Gucci’s GG Marmont Matelassé is the official king of the year, any fanny pack would do the job. In fact, if you ask me, the more 90’s looking the better. No matter what you call it: bumbag, belt bag, waist bag (that’s how it’s called in Turkish); do yourself a favor and get one of these before it’s too late. image sources: the impression, whowhatwear, dailymail, tommy ton, the cut, my dubio, elle, harper’s bazaar, team peter stigter, make your style Save Save

Best Street Style Looks of NYFW Spring 2018

The last thing I needed during a “we moved, we traveled so now we have to save a little” period was a fashion week that pushed me further and further to shopping with its street style scene but I guess we all knew it was coming. Even my husband knew it was coming. When it’s fashion week he just lets me be, possibly praying I’ll just stare and not try to buy every single thing on every single gorgeous woman. So far the damage is manageable but we have 3 more weeks so who knows what other piece I’ll attack next. More sock boots (more being the operative word here)? Printed long dresses? Polka dots? Balenciaga pointed toes or Celine toe cap sandals? A friend that I can twin with? Thank god I already have a fanny pack and biker shorts… The list goes on and on, so do the photos of best street style looks from NYFW and here they are, all 90 of them. image sources: the impression, the cut, vogue.es, vogue.fr, fashionista …

Carrera Bound

As I was trying to find a witty title for this outfit post (which quite frankly is the hardest thing after finding Instagram captions) I realized the Carrera sunglasses I’m wearing already have the perfect name. Created using the retro aesthetic of the classic pilot shape bound together with a double metal bridge and the iconic Carrera logo, the name may be hinting at anything; a destination, a root, a union… For me, it’s a bold way to embrace the good old pilot with a hint of red, a color I’m trying to adopt into my everyday looks. . I See You 90’s

90’s have always been my favorite era (and when I say 90’s I’m also thinking about early 00’s), not just because I lived my childhood in it but also because it’s the time that I resonate with everything the most. The music (open one of my playlists and you’ll see where I got stuck), the minimalism, technology we grew up with… Everything I remember from 90’s and can’t remember but find out now is fascinating to me, everything but the sunglasses and the eyebrows. I know you weren’t expecting me to bash 90’s sunglasses in the first paragraph of a post about 90’s sunglasses, but it’s true (I’ll get into the eyebrow point in a separate post, when thin line eyebrows become a thing again in a couple of years). I’m usually uncomfortable with any super trendy sunglasses trend, huge or small, and prefer wearing classic models year after year. That’s why it really irritated me at first when I started seeing super thin rectangles all over Instagram, to the point I felt worried for …

BUT, even with all the moving/vacation craze, I wouldn’t (couldn’t) miss Copenhagen Fashion Week: my favorite of all non-major fashion weeks. So Millennial

One of the best feelings in life (besides peeing when you have to and drinking water when you’re thirsty) (or seeing that one item you’ve been lusting after for so long on sale) (OK there are many amazing feelings but this is also good) is finding something hanging in your wardrobe from years ago not only into which you can fit but also is super trendy. I Never Expire

I always believe there’s a funny plot twist in every person’s life story, something that happens to them very ironically when they think they’re the last person it can happen to. To me that thing was getting married. Despite the endless – sometimes subliminal – pressure you get all your life as a girl to get married, to have kids and live a “proper” life, I kept on chanting Anouk’s “Nobody’s Wife” like it was my personal anthem. I kept on laughing when my friends tell me despite what I say, I’ll be the first one to get married. I couldn’t be in serious relationships and marriage simply wasn’t fit for me. Then, at 19 years old, I met the love of my life. After dating for 7 years we got married when we were 26 years old. And yes, we were the first ones among our friends to get married. It wasn’t a splashy proposal and a show off wedding. It wasn’t because we had to get married because we’ve been together for so …

Harriet

I think there was only one way to make a slip dress look cooler and even more sexy at the same time and Millie +Lou managed to find it: hot pressing harriet prints on a vintage ivory satin apron dress. I’m so insanely in love with this dress I even got over my “wearing sleepwear outside” phobia (FOWSO?) – I needed a trench to make it more city-friendly but I’m taking this baby to vacation and there will be numerous nights where it will be just me and her (and some underwear probably…maybe). . Spirits Bay

This year I had to postpone all my summer plans (for a little while) thanks to my huge move, but as a Mediterranean at heart, summer starts within before it does anywhere else. Which is why the minute the temperature hits above 20 degrees Celsius, my style changes from structured minimal to clean and laid back almost-bohemian. Leather cross bodies are traded for wicker baskets, bras disappear, anything that touches my skin is doomed to dust until September and of course, my jewelry gets a lot more joyful. Michael Hill‘s Spirits Bay collection is inspired by the form of Totorere shells, which are worn down by the elements until only the strongest part of the shell remains. Designer Christine Hill’s fascination with these shells began 50 years ago and since then she kept on collecting and sketching them; searching for the purest, most graceful form to transform into a celebration of resiliency and strength. Each piece in the Spirits Bay collection represents a remarkable journey: A masterpiece of nature, shaped by the elements, brought to …

Rove Concepts

Those of you that follow me on Instagram may already know (because it’s all I talk about lately) that I’m moving to a new, bigger and brighter house next week which means only one thing in my universe: endless furniture shopping. I’ve spent so much time online looking for the “perfect” everything, trying to find the best version of an interior concept I have in my mind for the best possible price. Vintage is usually a good option but for some things (especially big furniture) you just want to have something brand new – with a vintage look – and that’s when I dove into the world of Rove Concepts, an exceptional Canadian destination where one can find handcrafted impeccable mid-century and modern-European furniture and home accents. Millie + Lou

This year I’ve become one of the ambassadors and insiders of Etsy Canada, which quite frankly was a no brainer for me the minute I got invited. I spend I don’t know how many hours every day on Etsy looking for handmade home accents or vintage clothes and furniture that I already felt like an honorary Etsy insider anyway. What changed is now I’m more focused on Canadian Etsy shops and this shift of focus made me discover some amazing boutiques – like the incredible Millie + Lou. This Vancouver based Etsy gem focuses on one of a kind reworks, which means they only use vintage items and recycled textiles for their garments and then use heat transfer techniques to create unbelievable prints on said garments, resulting in one of a kind artwork like ethical clothes. I now own many items from them, but this white denim jacket with an Alexander Calder inspired print at the back has to be my favorite. I really don’t know if I’m cool enough to pull it off but …

I fell in love with this dress the minute, nay, the second I saw it (and here’s proof) so it’s no surprise that I immediately made it mine. Nanushka Spring/Summer 2017

The Hungarian brand Nanushka may sound new to your ears but it’s actually an already almost-established brand in the fashion industry. In the short span of a few months, it has become a fashion girl favorite and started popping up in a lot of Instagram photos – if you are following the right girls that is. It’s not mainstream or a “blogger favorite” brand, on the contrary, it only appeals to a certain girl with the certain style, who is looking for ethical fashion in functional pieces where she doesn’t have to sacrifice spirituality or her natural essence. And the spring/summer collection perfectly embodies the urban escapist woman, who is always in the traveler state of mind. source: nanushka Save

Slow Down The Fashion

Lately I’m all about (or trying to be all about) slow fashion rather than high street. For years we were taught it either has to be luxury or cheap and any designer who tried to do something in between – luxury basics, handmade goods, ethical fashion – were doomed. Luckily consumers started turning their faces to the good side, appreciating the value of design and quality for the price they actually deserve, and new wave bloggers and influencers play a big role in this change. I hardly ever enter Zara anymore (I still shop there every now and then, but compared to how much I used to buy before it’s almost nothing), only check H&M for accessories and couple of trendy pieces every season and I don’t even pass by other high street retailers. Now I buy one slow fashion item instead of buying 10 of the knock off and my wardrobe has become so much more refined and of quality lately. One of the hardest parts of shopping slow though is the custom tax …

Best of Tbilisi Fall 2017

Tell me where your favorite designer is from and I can tell you the fashion landscape of the entire city. I know this phrase can’t be applied to every designer in the world but it perfectly explains the relationship between Demna Gvasalia and Tbilisi. The resemblances are so freaky that I’ve started to think either Georgians really, truly love the 80’s more than anything right now OR Gvasalia is such a big fashion royalty that all emerging designers are following his footsteps, so much that sometimes they stepped a little too much on the back of his shoes – sock boots, extreme shoulder pads, suiting – everything Balenciaga was on Tbilisi runways. There are of course some designers that, let’s say inspired by others instead of Gvasalia, like Materiel by Aleksander Akhalkatsishvili, Gola Damian or Dalood, but the Gvasalia effect was instantly recognizable, which is why Tbilisi has become one of the hottest fashion capitals lately. My favorite red carpet event of the year has come and gone (though I must admit the past few years I love Cannes red carpet more than the MET Gala) and I’m left with the task of narrowing down my favorite looks and choosing a winner, which quite frankly wasn’t hard at all this year. Resident MET Gala winner Rihanna came in and shot the whole thing down, she is the unanimous queen, best dressed in every single list you’ll find online today. Everyone else, well I chose them either because they stayed true to the dress code, which was to dress “avant-garde”, or because they stayed true to the theme, which was Rei Kawakubo x Comme des Garçons (no one else managed to tick off both boxes besides Rihanna and Helen Lasichanh, maybe Katy Perry). Here are the 45 best looks (yes that’s my narrowed down version) from MET Gala 2017: Rei Kawakubo x Comme des Garçons. source: the cut Save

Best of Bridal Spring 2018

One thing I’ve learned as a former bride and resident fashion blogger is that you never ever stop looking at wedding gowns, even years after you get married. Either they are too beautiful to ignore or all your best friends are getting married the same year and your camera roll is filled with bridal ideas from Pinterest or bridal shop dressing room photos (living thousands of miles away from my friends doesn’t stop me from interfering in shopping decisions, I’m that annoying) so it’s no surprise that once again I’m all over bridal trends this year too. I actually love wedding dresses so much that we (me and my best friend who isn’t getting married – we are 3 really close friends) even made a joke about buying the other two wedding dresses my friend didn’t choose and wearing them as bridesmaid dresses. Sounds a lot more fun than generic bridesmaid looks, no? Having said that, I’d gladly wear any one of these 70 gorgeous dresses from Bridal Spring 2018 collections to go grocery shopping …

Spring In My Step

I’ve decided this year, after 4 years of denial and suffering, that I’m going to stop pretending I’m living in a regular winter climate city hence stopped taking photos outside during harsh winter and risk hypothermia or pneumonia (happened once, not kidding), so this is my first non-sponsored outfit post in a long time and it really feels good to be back. It feels good to go out, it feels good to feel my skin filling up with vitamin D again, it feels good to wear my beautiful clothes. Life is good in spring, I can tell you that. . A French Lovestory

The new collection of my favorite hat brand in the world Lack of Color has just been released and without surprise, I want every single piece. To be even more accurate, I’ll probably get every single piece (I’m secretly setting up my very own LOC shop at home). For the new A French Lovestory collection inspired by carefree European sun-lit days, Lack of Color have extended and re-worked some of their most popular styles from previous ranges and have included fresh and new textures and fabrics. Many styles are unisex as usual, keeping in tone with the theme of the lookbook which was shot at Villa Goupil in France by Australian photographer Brydie Mack, encapsulating the endearment of Him & Her – capturing the love-story between two, lounging in the solitude and bliss of each other. This has to be my favorite lookbook of LOC as of date, with the 2015 lookbook Luxe & Mens coming in second (man they know how to shoot good campaigns!). And now, while you’re checking out the rest of …

Best of Coachella 2017

I’ve given up on indie-rock-pop music festivals approximately 2 years ago when I had the worst time at Osheaga and realized I was the only one bored because I was the only one there for the music (and was not high) and didn’t care at all about how I looked. Ever since the first time I went to a rock music festival (I was 17) I’m all about “Will I be able to pee comfortably in this?” “Will I get sunburns in this?” “Is there enough space in my tent for this?” “Will my feet hurt in this after 15 hours standing up?” so girls in flower crowns and white crochet dresses with sandals or boys showing off their six packs in trucker hats that attend the entire festival (whereas I buy tickets to only the days I’m interested in) but have no clue about the music started to freak me out. I’m still attending rock festivals where we dance and jump in dust all day and eventually sleep in our car at night, but …

My Very Own Vestiaire

I don’t know how many of you spend as much time as me online looking for a designer item that is sold out, from seasons ago, from a limited collection or just looking for a more affordable price but for me, it takes up half my life. Sure, it’s also my job, but I can’t tell you how many hours I lose everyday before eventually finding everything (and I mean EVERY SINGLE THING) on Vestiaire Collective. Case in point, these Vetements cowboy boots for which I scavenged the entire internet for months before finally scoring them on Vestiaire Collective, receiving them within days in its original box and not even a single scratch on it. For those of you who don’t know, Vestiaire Collective is (the world’s best!) marketplace for pre-loved luxury and designer fashion where you can shop the pieces directly from the closets of the world’s most stylish women. Most of the sellers are from Europe which makes the website even more unique and remarkably more fashionable compared to other marketplaces. Every item …

Yohei Ohno Fall 2017

If you ever thought to yourself, like I occasionally do, does the world need another Acne Studios or is just one enough, I have the answer for you. Yes, the world absolutely needs as many Acne Studios as possible and I recently discovered one from Tokyo. Yohei Ohno’s debut collection at Tokyo Fashion Week nailed the retro-futurist look, giving me tons of styling inspiration already. source: vogue runway Save Save

15 New Shoe Brands For The Cool Girl

Somewhere between the land of super expensive shoes that you can’t afford (and will probably go out of style not even a year later) and the cheap high street stuff that is %99 not manufactured ethically and %100 will be on at least 15 other women’s feet, there stands a new wave of independent shoe designers that create some of the coolest and affordable footwear on the face of the earth. You may have heard of some, may have seen some on Instagram or may have been seeing it for the first time here but what they all have in common is that you need at least one pair from each, if you can stop there. Here are the hottest 15 independent shoe brands of 2017: Mercedes Castillo After working for Gianfranco Ferré and launching Tory Burch shoes in 2005, designer Mercedes Castillo created her namesake brand this year. Cane Back’s Back (Alright!)

I love how everything I’ve seen in doctors’ offices when I was growing up is coming back one by one; first the monstera plants and now the Cesca chair (Cesca is the name of the chair with a cane back and a cane seat with a metal frame, named after its founder Marcel Breuer Cesca, which is sometimes also referred to as the Breuer chair) but it’s not just the Cesca chair that’s having it’s moment in the sun right now, it’s ALL cane back chairs. With or without arms, wood or metal frames, brown or black edges – it simply doesn’t matter. And because they’re so popular right now it’s extremely hard to find one for a reasonable price however I managed to spot one in one of the second hand furniture depots in Montreal and scored one for $10 (yes, that’s $10, I’m not missing a zero there). May the force be with you during your search! image sources: blissful blog, evablack design, the socialite family, arent&pyke, los mundos de alisia, crookedseam, unlinked …

Favorite Fall 2017 Looks

Every year I religiously follow fashion month, checking every single show on a daily basis and try to take mental notes of new styling tricks and trends, what I should buy for the coming season and what I should write about. Though this year it got kind of hectic with my ongoing sickness and by the time Paris Fashion Week kicked off, there were already too many things to talk about so I decided to wait till the end and make a post of all my favorite individual looks rather than collections and trend breakdowns. I do this every season anyway, save all my “I can use this styling trick” photos and check it regularly, I’ve just never shared it with you guys. So here goes; my 100 best looks from Fall 2017 fashion month to buy (pink, plaid, oversize blazers, sock boots, long fur coats), to admire (Balenciaga, Céline, Ellery, Proenza Schouler), to inspire (one shoulder knitwear, tops over shirts, belts over jackets, monochrome, clashing stripes, luxury kitsch). source: vogue Save Save

Best Street Style Looks of PFW Fall 2017

Fashion month is finally over and despite not getting off my couch for even a second this whole time, I’m exhausted. But luckily it all ends with Paris so we are left with lots and lots of Balenciaga and Céline in our minds, to keep it going for the months to come. My one trend takeaway from the whole thing though: if you ever bought two different colors of the same shoe just because you like it so much and have always felt guilty, now is your time to flaunt both of them at the same time with no guilt. For more inspiration (because we won’t be getting a new batch of street style looks until June) here are my favorite 90 looks from Paris Fashion Week. image sources: the impression, harper’s bazaar, the cut, collage vintage, style du monde, vogue es, vogue fr Save Save Save Save

Best Street Style Looks of MFW Fall 2017

If there’s one upside of being stuck to bed not going out at all sick, it’s spending hours and hours watching SATC on repeat and scrolling through street style photos all day long with no guilt at all. Don’t get me wrong, I do it on a regular non-sick fashion month too, only this time I don’t feel like screaming “get a life Elif!”. Anyways, as Paris Fashion Week approaches and inspiration is piling up, my many many shopping carts on multiple websites are overflowing. In terms of inspiration that will influence your spring/fall shopping, there are two major take outs from Milan Fashion Week streets: 1) pink and orange explosion (which I personally can’t get behind) 2) Gucci and suits (this I definitely can get behind). image sources: the cut, the impression, collage vintage, style du monde, harper’s bazaar, vogue.es, vogue.fr, refinery29 Save

Best of 2017 Academy Awards Red Carpet

If it weren’t for Taraji P.Henson and the final 4 (meaning the last 4 memorable arrivals on the red carpet: Emma Stone, Brie Larson, Viola Davis and Naomie Harris) this red carpet could have easily gone in history as the worst of the worst. So many fails, safe and boring choices, I’m really underwhelmed of everything I’ve seen tonight – and quite frankly really disappointed since this will be the last major red carpet till MET Gala in May. It was so bad that I HAD TO add Dakota Johnson in that should-have-been-beautiful-but-it’s-not butter Gucci and her weird hair & Jessica Biel in that gorgeous Kaufmanfranco that she managed to ruin with that horrible necklace to the best dressed list in order to reach 20 looks in total. Couple of notes to take before wedding/prom season: black velvet is IN so deep that.. OK I’m not going to make a sex joke about it but it’s IN. Also high neck red gowns, if you’re looking for an alternative style that non of your cousins will …

Best Street Style Looks of LFW Fall 2017

Despite being the least favorite fashion week of many – and therefore the one that’s taken the least seriously by fashion industry – London Fashion Week always manages to deliver with the street style thanks to big European guns like Camille Charriere, Lucy Williams, Pandora Sykes, Hedvig Opshaug and so on. It was a breath of fresh (and hot) air after frigid NYC and a subtle and quotidian transition to Milan and color/print extravaganza, with so many seasonal and next-seasonal inspirational looks. Here are my 75 favorite street style looks from LFW… image sources: the impression, the cut, style du monde, collage vintage, vogue.es, vogue.fr, harper’s bazaar, fashionista, wwd Save Save Save

Best Street Style Looks of NYFW Fall 2017

Fashion weeks usually make me really happy, despite all the “circus” leading up to fights between bloggers and editors (that I find really, really lame of editors btw), I look forward to fresh inspiration from runways and streets. However this time New York Fashion Week kind of made me sad when I saw all these amazing women looking just as fine even during horrible winter conditions, something which I always claim is the reason why I look like crap in winter. Apparently it’s not winter, it’s me. Here’s hoping these 100 best looks from NYFW starring Ramya Giangola and Jan Michael Quammie will light a fire in me. image sources: the impression, the cut, harper’s bazaar, refinery29, fashionista, vogue fr, vogue es, style du monde, wwd Save Save Save Save

Shop: Statement Earrings

If you’re following me on Instagram you probably already know that lately I’m obsessed – OBSESSED – with earrings. I had both my ears multiple-pierced for the first time since high school and suddenly everything was about statement earrings: a line of hoops, single ear metals, fringes and so on. I guess I’m somewhat lucky that I was always into jewelry, even when I wasn’t wearing any, that I bought some great statement pieces in the past like Anissa Kermiche Les Paniers Dorés or these fan earrings I bought from an Etsy shop almost 6 years ago. Of course that didn’t stop me from expanding the collection, I’m literally buying a new earring every 2-3 days. Beaufille Fall 2017

Once again I feel great pleasure writing about the coolest Canadians on earth, sisters Chloé and Parris Gordon who gifted the world Beaufille couple of years ago and like most gifts that keep on giving, it gets better and better every season. Their signature flares took a more subtle turn for fall 2017 and emerged as voluminous silhouettes whilst two other Beaufille signatures patent leather and and whimsical cut-outs were as strong as ever. Contrasting stitch details and newly introduced prints – together with over the dress corsets which already seems like one of the biggest trends of the year – elevated the entire collection up up and away. PS: I want those earrings, right now. source: vogue Save Save Save
