Frama New Catalogue

I received the new Frama catalogue a while ago, the photos are so beautiful I wanted to share some of my favorites on the blog. I love the moody colors and the beautiful light, I do not own an apartment right now but when I do I can see a Frama kitchen fitting quite nicely in it. I already own a few select pieces from Frama ( AJ Otto tableware, their signature soaps etc ), but I feel I can never have enough. Everytime I visit Kollektedby store in Oslo (so lucky it is in my neighborhood) I end up buying something more. Take a look at the new catalogue but also at their webstore if you are not able to visit their beautiful store/showroom in Copenhagen.

At home with some of my favorite essentials

Since getting a bed in the bedroom (sneak peek of the bedroom)I feel the whole apartment has finally come together, it feels much more like home now than it did when I first moved in July. I love spending time in here now, and since I have been a little bit sick last few weeks I have been working from bed much more than I would normally do. I don’t have a speaker in Oslo for my bedroom so the new portable Beoplay P2 has become my best companion ( mine is in color Sand ). It doesnt have any controls on it, but tap it twice to pause any song ( double tap again to resume ) and shake it sideways to skip a song are all the controls I need :)  It also has a microphone so when I get calls I dont even need to pick up my phone! I always take it with me when I travel too, it is lightweight and then I can listen to music or podcasts or audio books while in my hotel room, its a win win. The sound is great as well for such a small speaker, it is now firmly on my essentials list.
To make the bedroom a little cosy, I like having a candle on the windowsill next to the bed (the bedroom has two big windows), and with some books and magazines, a mirror and a lamp the scene is almost complete.

On the window you might have noticed some products, they are from the Nuori face care line, the Perfecting face oil on the left and the Supreme moisture mask on the right. If you don’t know about Nuori already, apart from their super minimalistic design, what distinguishes them from other skincare is that their products are always fresh. Mine were mixed right before they were delivered and their ingredients are 100% natural. A lot of brands claim this to be true, but Nuori actually delivers, read more about it here if you want and I promise you , you will be converted.
Last but not least my top favorite brand Aesop launched a new perfume! ( They are currently launching a new website , I will link to it as soon as it is up! ). When it comes to how it smells, you should really visit one of their stores, it is a little too masculine for me but I love how it smells on my other half :)

Ferm Living : The Home

A couple of weeks ago I visited Copenhagen, invited by Ferm Living for a very special dinner and the opening of The Home, their new Showroom in Amagertorv Square. If you follow me on instagram ( and you should for candid everyday moments ), I snapped the whole dinner and gave a quick sneak peek of the private showroom, and today I am finally sharing the photos I took. Everything in the showroom you can find in the Ferm Living webshop apart from small details such as perfumes or crystals. The Home is not open for public viewing but I will be more than happy to take you on a tour below.  Follow me!

I am starting the tour from the living room, where the light is ample and the windows look directly at the Amagertorv Square. The Turn Sofa and the Kelim rug are few of my favorites from the collection ,  while the poofs are new for AW17 and can be found here along with the rest of the news.

Walking past the living room through the double doors we enter the office. Here the table and chairs or the Haze Vitrine need no introduction, however I loved the new Pin board , while the Haze collection that the Vitrine belongs to is getting new additions, trays , cabinets, shelves, check the whole collection here

Through another set of double doors and we can find ourselves into the bathroom/bedroom, one of my favorite rooms in The Home of Ferm Living. The small boudoir area must be the most photographed area in the showroom, and it is quite easy to replicate right from the AW17 news. Lucky us! The Plant box in new color rose serves as a storage box , while the addition of the Brass tray that is made for it allows for leaving on top some of bathroom essentials. I love the Sekki Salt jars that here are used to hold small objects, also in the box you can find a variety of Salon Purses lined with velvet, perfect for storing cosmetics. The Balance candleholder in brass is actually from this years Christmas collection, while you can find all the Stone Hooks here in various sizes and colors. The Poise hand mirror that is hanging from one of the hooks can be found here!

The kids room is situated right after the bedroom ( so sweet to be in there ) and we keep on walking we find ourselves on a small blue corridor that is in fact the entrance of the showroom.

To the left of the corridor we find the dining room that connects to the living room through another set of double doors. I loved the deep maroon color on the walls ( all the decorations can be found in the Ferm Living collection ), while if you turn around you find another color in a nook that accentuates the 19th century details. On the wall the Hanging Tealight Deco in Oval shape (also comes in a brass version)  , again from the Christmas collection ( expect to see it in my apartment when I am ready to go festive).

Turn right in the same corridor and you find yourself in the kitchen, bright white in one side and a beautiful green on the other. Here new collections are fusing with old , from the beloved Neu Tableware and the Ripple line of glasses, to the all new Sekki Collection of bowls, jars, cups and pots (see top of the shelf photo above). The Sekki collection will be available from the 5th of November and I personally can’t wait, the unglazed solid dyed stoneware is almost calling my name.

Last but not least, right through the kitchen, inside a little nook, the most adorable bathroom ever. Here you can see more of the Sekki collection, the Poise mirror and new accessories from Ferm Living. Funny anecdote, I came directly to the bathroom as I entered the showroom, I was a little late in my appointment due to my plane landing slightly late so I just took my clothes and cosmetics and excused myself until I was looking a little bit more presentable, so I got the chance to do my make up in the bathroom, believe me, it is as cozy as it looks!

This concludes the tour of The Home of Ferm Living in  Amagertorv Square, I hope you enjoyed it! I made notes of some of my favorite items, but if you see something I have not mentioned , just check the Ferm Living webstore, you will find everything there ;)

Beautiful Apartment in Kungsholmen in Stockholm

A home for sale up on Fastastic Frank caught my eye , and of course I recognized it from the first Melo Studio shoot Sara Medina Lind did there with Pella Hedeby on the styling wheel. Situated in the island of Kungsholmen in Stockholm , it is really perfect for a young couple , a classic 19th century renovated apartment in a beautiful area, it would be so easy to move there even for me and I am very picky when it comes to apartments for myself. I have assembled some photos below but for even more photos and information check Fastastic Frank .

Simple Scandinavian Living Room Styling

Sponsored post in collaboration with Nest.co.uk
I had a little time this weekend and I finally styled my own living room a little bit, so before I start sharing photos from my trips last month I thought I would show you how the room looks like right now after a few recent additions!

Starting off with the biggest one although I recently showed it off as I assembled it on my instagram , the Menu Stick system in white. I needed a shelf system and I couldn’t decide if it should be mounted on the wall or free on the floor, but I found the Menu one on a great sale in a shop in Oslo which made my decision pretty easy. And if after a few months I need a little bit of change I can always sell it and buy something else, recycling interior pieces is something I firmly believe in, I much prefer buying something that has value that I can later sell and get something else, then start over again when I need a change.
Another two additions in the room are the Kizu Lamp from New Works and the Hay Slit table in Mirror, both of which I was lucky to have delivered on my door by Nest , one of the stores in UK that I recommend heartily to my readers from UK (and the rest of the Europe) for their great selection of brands that are on the forefront of interior design last few years. I have talked about a lot with the owners as well and we both share the same values when it comes to furniture recycling, and not only. Recently we were discussing the concept of Lagom, exactly because we both love simplicity, roughly translated from Swedish as ‘appropriately in balance’ or simply ‘Just right’.

Lagom is not an interior ‘trend’ but rather a way of living in balance, of having just the right amount of anything you need. I wrote a piece for Nest about our discussions and my thoughts on the subject that was published on their web blog , if you want to read more about Lagom and life in balance through my eyes you can find it here

Finally, when it comes to my living room , some details really set the mood and their are very easy to apply. A rather bulky plant will cover an awkward space and make the transition from a piece of furniture to a corner seamlessly (I bought my Fiddle fig tree from the flower market a week ago although I only potted it in a simple terracotta pot yesterday ) , while a simple poster on the wall will give a polished finished look. My poster is a limited edition art concept from  Therese Sennerholt ( one of Swedens most famous and most talented Art Directors) called Full Moon Doodle in grey.

I have used my Kizu lamp on one of the windowsills in my living room, but I think it will look just as nice on the Menu shelves, while the round Hay table I am temporarily using as my main table but in the future it will either be a side table or a night stand ( on my Bedroom sneak peek post I used the brass version I got temporarily from Nest, I loved it as a solution!).

For now I will leave this space as is, but I am adding some new things as October goes by, plus painting the walls, I love changes and I need warmer colors on the walls for the winter!

Bedroom Sneak Peek in Oslo

So much good response on Tuesdays post about the Thorvald Meyersgate apartment, thank you so much for all your kind words! I am so glad everyone loved this collab between me and Elisabeth Heier, we will be working on more things together so keep an eye for upcoming news!

Today I wanted to take the opportunity and talk a little bit about last few weeks, I have fallen behind on the blog due to a lot of work, travelling etc, but I promise I will make it up going forward. I feel the blog is my own personal space that nothing affects it ( instagram changing the algorithm for example ), so I feel bad I haven’t been able to find time to update it more often last month. I am not using this as an excuse but if you are following me on instagram you know I have almost not been at home at all, so now I am so happy to finally get the time to work without distractions.  For the next couple of days, I have planned to finally show you where I have been in detail ( again sneak peeks of which I have shared on my instagram along with stories so if you dont follow me there, you really should!), what has caught my eye recently (favorites, places, just about everything really), and some new additions on the blog. I dont want to reveal too much but it has to do with something a lot of people have been asking me lately, so I hope it is going to be a welcome addition!

Finally having some free time has also led to being able to organise the apartment in Oslo a little bit more. It still has way to go until it is finished, but at least I got a bed and the bedroom is now my favorite place to spend time in! So far it is very simple of course but it still has a nice vibe, and really it is not going to be filled with things anyway. I am lucky that the apartment has a walk in closet so I dont need a rail for my clothes ( although I might regardless since I have one in mind that looks great), but I might instead use the space for a small office. And paint! I didnt let the owner paint the walls since I wanted to make my own decision on what colors! Either way, it wont take me too long to make up my mind, I only rent this apartment for a year and I want to make every week count. Tip : There always going to be sneak peeks on my instagram if you cant wait for a blogpost ;)

Latest project : Oslo Apartment for Sale at Thorvald Meyersgate

A few days ago me and my talented friend and colleague Elisabeth Heier teamed up in order to style and shoot the rental apartment that she is currently living that is up for sale. The photos turned out amazing , it was difficult not to when Elizabeth did such a great job styling the whole apartment, I only had to point and shoot :) I am starting my tour from the bedroom, easily my most favorite room in the apartment, but as you can see, the rest is fantastic as well! Following the master bedroom, the kids bedroom, the living room, dining room and kitchen, bathroom, hallway and last but not least some photos from the yard! More photos are up on the ad for the sale here, while you can always find more details at Elisabeths blog about the rooms and the styling.

Sunday Thoughts and Upcoming Plans

Lets just say it has been a busy August and September looks just as active. Even though I am constantly sleep deprived and my feet feel like I have been running the marathon every other day, I love it when there are so many things to do, and honestly, even when fairs and press events and travelling doesn’t take so much time in my weekly schedule, I already have plans for things that will occupy me other than work. I am quite grateful my planner was empty for this weekend though, I have managed to finally clean the house, do all my laundry and finally rest. Resting involves planning ahead, responding to emails and organizing my calendar and upcoming shoots/stylings, but it is something that I love doing, it really doesn’t feel like a job.
For now, next week involves a quick 3 day trip to Paris/ Provence until Friday noon with Pillivuyt, while Friday night and the weekend, Designers Saturday will be at full throttle in Oslo with so many brands showcasing, plus all the parties! Cant wait! However this year sadly it coincided with Maison et Objet in Paris , and with the Pillivuyt trip getting most of the time while in France I will not be attending this year.
From tomorrow I will be sharing however some of the highlights of this and the previous week , just stay tuned ;)

Menu Space AW17

The last few days have gone by much too quickly and if you follow my instagram stories and generally my instagram you know why. Since I wasnt able to post while spending a week in Copenhagen , I will take everything backwards and start from the last day! On friday after all my meetings and press events were finished I decided to visit again the Menu Space at Nordhavn, Menus new showroom and open cafe in the area. The last time I stopped by was for the openings night dinner during 3 days of design and I didn’t have time to take any photos, I more than made up this time around however. I was delighted to see some of the news coming out now and in the following months , if you are interested in sneak peeks there are plenty below!

The Offset sofa by Norm Architects as seen in the photo above is one of my favorites. The name comes from the design process when the architects experimented with its shape by offsetting proportions, playing with narrow armrests versus a thick generous seat while trying to research balance . The result is a welcoming sofa, contemporary yet very inviting.

New Norm Dinnerware will also be launching this Autumn in a new color, stormy grey. The dinnerware is finished in a special glaze that gives the porcelain its elegant watercolour-like texture.

The Zet storing system as seen above is a new shelving system with a light , airy and minimalistic appearance. It consists of only two parts, the wooden u-shapped shelves and the metal frame. By combining these two one can create endless formations while it can always be disassembled and reassembled in a different shape. On top of Zet lies the new Stone Lamp. Norm architects intended for it to be used exactly as a candle so it is designed to create a soft cozy light.

Another one of my favorites that will launch later this year is the Monuments Magazine holder. There are many magazine holders in the market, and certainly we can also build stacks of them right on top of our floors, however the Monuments plinth like design with two identical marble blocks imbues the holder with a monumental architectural feel, hence its name! This one got immediately on top of my wishlist.

Although the corner for the Eave modular sofa was still under construction, I managed to take a sneak peek photo for you. The sofa takes its name by the “eaves” the lower edges of the roof that overhang a wall. I expect to see the Eave in many combinations in many homes and offices alike, its versatility and its shape, a perfect blend of style and comfort, make it a great choice for any space. Sneak peek on the plinth, the TR bulb, the first collaboration between Menu and Tim Rundle. The dimmable lamp can be placed on the table or the wall, while its opal glass diffuses the light and prevents glare.

The last sneak peek for today comes in relation with the TR lamp in a form of a combination of the Tribeca series by Søren Rose Studios and the TR as seen on the top right of the photo above. This photo even though it only shows part of the lamp is one of my favorite photos, I feel it captures the essence of scandinavian minimalism perfectly.

I hope you enjoyed the small tour in the Menu Space, some of the things I saw made it on the top of my wishlist so I am hoping I will be able to budget some of them for my own space at home soon!

August Favorites

Usually every month I make a wishlist, but this month I thought I should just share some of my favorites that found their way in my apartment. First up, some goodies from Ferm Living , in the photo above spotted : a Neu mug, a small brass spoon, a brass candle extinguisher and a special chocolate I brought with me when I visited Ferm Livings new showroom The Home last week (what a fabulous dinner and company!). I will be travelling to Copenhagen again next week so I will be stopping by for some photos, but for a sneak peek and some photos from the dinner you can check Elisabeths post at Elisabeth Heier.

I am waiting for quite a few deliveries next few days but a small one arrived yesterday with just the right accessories. One of them the mirror Aura by young and talented designer Bjørn van den Berg manufactured by New Works. I got the wall version and now I am thinking I need the table version as well, for now the wall version looks perfectly at home on my windowsill.
A few days ago I realised I was missing pencils and pens, so I hopped over to Lush Dive that’s just in the neighborhood for some office supplies. I am very peculiar when it comes to pencils, I prefer writing with B, HB, or H depending on the paper , while a 2B is always great to have around for sketching. I think I got enough for a few months though!
I love a minimal speaker system and I was lucky to be gifted a new Stammen from Urban Ears. I got the Indigo Blue version and I love it. The sound is great partly because the speaker doesn’t run on battery, so all the space is used for sound. Unfortunately what makes it so great it is also its only downside, since it doesnt run on battery it is not portable at all, it needs to be close to a power socket and the wire always shows. If you can live with the downsides, it is otherwise a great sound system with powerful sound.

Last but not least, one of my favorite perfumes Santal 33 was nearing its end, but I was lucky to be gifted a Neroli 36 by Le Labo which came just in time. I dont think I can have enough of their custom made perfumes, but Santal 33 will always be my first love. Oh! I also found a marble Hay tray 70% off at a local furniture store in Sogndal right before I left, how lucky am I? It is a great solution for gathering all my face care essentials in the bathroom and it definitely deserves a place in my favorites!

My Kitchen in Oslo

The kitchen in my apartment in Oslo is one of the rooms I spend most of my time in. Partly  because it is the most furnished room, but to be honest, I love working on the table. I showed a sneak peak of the kitchen here, where you can see my working spot, but I thought I would share what can be seen in the opposite direction as well. I already have a small routine after waking up, and it mostly came to be because the cooktop is not induction and since I didnt bring with me an electric water boiler, the water takes about 9-10 minutes to boil. So I wake up, turn the cooktop on, then I have a good amount of time to brush my teeth, wash my face, ( bathroom routines ) before I get dressed and head to the kitchen for a morning tea and something light to eat while I open the first emails for the day. I am not showing the whole kitchen yet on purpose , I need to paint it, then change some shelves, decide what lamps I want, then finally change the water faucet and I think probably add some plants or a board to scribble on. There are lots to do then next month and with fairs, press events and projects coming up I am wishing the day had 48 hours and not 24. I know it seems  from the photos that the kitchen hardly needs any change but the details are those that will define the space when it is a rental although I am lucky the owners are open to changes.

Temporary bedroom

I just came back to Oslo and I am trying to make myself comfortable, but I am starting to feel the absence of a furnished home already. Due to summer vacations companies have delivery dates even longer than usual and as of now most of everything I have ordered has 6 to 7 weeks delivery time. I dont want to compromise on my coffee table or on the lamps I want, I would rather live in an empty house, which is how I ended up with one of course! I dont even have a bed , another item waiting to be shipped, but at least I have made myself an impromptu bed with a futon on the bedroom floor. I will love having an actual bed, but for now just the luxury of organic cotton sheets help a lot with feeling comfortable. One of the two big windowsills works as a side table above my head for essentials, while everything else I am spreading around me on the floor. Dont feel too bad for me, I am beyond excited to be in Oslo and in my beautiful apartment, and the journey is always worth it ;)

Spend the Summer outside with Ellos

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos
Just because August is so close, it doesnt mean the summer is over, far from it! I am getting back to Oslo from vacation today and my veranda doesn’t even have the essentials so I have gathered a few things from Ellos Home that will help me, I hope they inspire you as well!
:: Hammock | If you are lucky to have a tree in your garden or anywhere to hang a hammock at your balcony I highly recommend Hengestol Svea
:: Pillows | Velvet is not just for inside the house, get comfortable outside as well with the pillows Georgia. My favorite color is grey-green.
:: Carafe | Sitting outside in the sun requires something refreshing and this carafe ( Mugge Mary ) will hold any beverage in style.
:: Vase | The same rules apply outside as they do inside. A table is just better with a vase filled with flowers, try the glass vase Similla for a minimal look.
:: Flowerpot | Flowerpots are not only for flowers, I use the metal pot Allison with the embossed pattern and decorative patinated surface to plant herbs and keep outside. Herbs do so much better when planted, and with all the outside summer cooking, having a small herb garden is a must.
:: Rug | Last but not least, try a plastic carpet if you want to cover an ugly veranda floor that you cannot change easily, especially if you are renting. I like to use the same palette so the result is pleasing, so Peak fits perfectly with the styling of my veranda, but Ellos has a great selection of plastic rugs that can be found here . And of course, they can be left outside when it rains!

Vacation Mood

I cannot remember a time where I didn’t blog for so many days, it was certainly not intentional.  After my move to Oslo first of July, the month just went too fast. I made a few early posts from the apartment ( you can find them all in the Oslo Apartment new category ) but I am still waiting for a lot of things to be delivered so the space is still quite empty, but you can already see how it is turning out! A few days ago however I returned to Sogndal at the cabin to spend summer vacations and the weather has been so beautiful that we have spend all our time just enjoying the warm days. I kept up with working behind the scenes however, all the work that goes into the blog that no one gets to see and certainly what is the least fun. Accounting, cleaning up emails, scheduling posts, upcoming plans, ordering props, timing upcoming press events ( already from August my calendar is almost full ) , flights, hotels, etc. There is so much to juggle, it really takes most of my day everyday.
Today I am finally sharing a sneak peek of the bedroom up on the loft, I spend a few hours moving some things around and the result is a room that feels quite better than before. The basics are there,  a slanted roof , window with great view towards the fjord and minimal wooden floors. I removed most of the furniture that was in the room, but left the double bed , an old chair (not pictured here) and old wooden shelves filled with books that currently sit on the floor. Since this is a vacation house there are no plans in place for a big renovation, however I am looking forward to painting over some of the wallpapers with a neutral color, it is the fastest way to upgrade any space without spending too much time. I have also brought some of my old but favorite design items from the house, a small selection for now that will grow as time goes by. It is a sort of recycling that works great, things I have grown slightly tired can come and live here, while old favorites can move back home again. As for now, the small nook I created on the loft is perfect for the summer, the loft tends to get a little hot and moving the bed under the window was the best way to catch that soft cool breeze.

Styling Windowsills

One of the things that were very high in my check list when I was looking for an apartment was high ceilings and big windows with deep windowsills. I ruled out beautiful apartments because the sills in the windows were small, it has been a struggle to find just the right space but now that I did I feel it was well worth the effort. My windowsills are big and beautiful and create the perfect spot for either an impromptu workspace or more commonly, a lamp or two, candles, books etc. Since my apartment is still quite empty, they are a lifesaver, although I dont mind just having things on the floor on stacks of magazines either. My house, my rules ;) Some of my favorites as of late, the Standard Bordelampe from Menu (it looks amazing when lit at night as well well), Ferm Living marble candleholders (they are minimal and make a statement without taking too much space) and latest magazines and kinto cups (my windowsills also work as a side table for now). There are so many ways you can take advantage of big windows and their sills, I am really looking forward to finding new opportunities this winter , not just for photos, but I have to say, I love how they look everytime I turn around or walk in the room.

Todays Office

The apartment is slowly coming together, and although there are many essentials that I need, one I was missing sorely was a kitchen table. I had several designers in mind but I ended up founding an In Between &Tradition table on Finn for a very good price which made my decision quite easy . I already had 4 In Between chairs in the same colour , and although I didn’t want to go for an all uniform look,  it turned up looking very similar to what I wanted it to look.
The whole apartment has big windows that let plenty of daylight in, but I really love working from the kitchen especially this time of the year. The kitchen is also where the balcony is at which is looking towards the small private park of the building ( the whole block is build around it), something I find quite ideal during summer with the nature bursting in. Athough it is Saturday I need to catch up with emails and work (moving has taken so much of my time this week), so you will find me here for the next couple of hours. Since I came to Oslo I have been taking more instagram stories, so for highlights of my day or my whereabouts you can always get sneak peeks there, I love sharing some Oslo love!

Bolon | Innovators at Heart

Those who follow me on instagram a few weeks ago got treated with some sneak peeks from the opening of the Bolon Lab Store in Stockholm. Together with Elisabeth Heier (find her post about Bolon here but also a few highlights of what we got up to those 24 hours here), we met up with Susanna Vento and Therese Sennerholt and the rest of the Bolon team for a delicious family breakfast at the Bolon Lab Store, where we found out more about Bolon and its history.

But who is Bolon? I admit I had only known them by name and reputation as the highly renowned Swedish flooring company. What I was delighted to discover was that there is so much more passion , design and most of all innovation involved in the making and running of the company, something that in my opinion is the cornerstone of what defines Bolon and their success. Do read on if you are just as curious!

Bolon started as a labour of love. Founder Nils-Erik Eklund started making rag rugs out of textile waste and to this day Bolon is celebrated for the recycling processes that are the heart of flooring creation. Research and development at Bolon is a holistic affair, with a number of considerations about new products on a project-by-project basis. The recent collections with architect Jean Nouvel ended up as a six final colourways but generated over 150 samples over a two year development. Talented Annica and Marie Eklund ,Nils-Erik grand daughters who took over the family business a few years ago, are now the heart of Bolon, their vision and personality is what drives Bolon forward into an innovative future. They have been on a mission – to make Bolon a design-led innovator and fuse the conservative, traditional flooring branch with the boundless creativity of the world of fashion. In doing so, they’ve collaborated with world-renowned designers and architects as well as working with international brands.

In Projects we Love, Bolon magazine, we can find their most beloved projects intertwined with interviews, beautiful projects and compelling facts about the company as well as Annicas and Maries compelling facts and glimpses into their own lives. The women behind Bolon are fascinating and multi talented (Annica is a remarkable photographer, more of her works can be found at Annica Eklund Studio, as well as many of her published coffee table books with her photos) but at the same time so very approachable. They mention it is part of their upbringing, their house was always open to friends and family, so they are actively nurturing personal and professional relationships with the same passion. It is this humble but powerful attitude that has made collaborations with legendary names such as Jean Nouvel easy as sundays family dinner, and the same goes with Missoni , renowned fashion house. But it is more than an attitude that creates this feeling, Annica and Marie are not just hospitable, they are not just friendly, they believe in a personal touch when it comes to relationships passionately, it is so important to them and Bolon to work with people they have bonded with. Just a few of their clients include Armani, Google, Volvo Cars, Adidas, Skype, Missoni and Rezidor Hotel Group.
For more of their impressive projects, feel free to visit Projects we Love, while their flooring collection can be found at Collections.

The Lab Store is a hub of design where tactile flooring and textile installations serve as a backdrop for a rotating programme  of exhibitions, workshops, lectures and dinners. It is a space for designers, architects and enthusiasts to meet and exchange ideas. Bolon draws on its collaborative approach to design––which includes partnerships with Jean Nouvel, Missoni, Monica Förster, Doshi Levien, Färg & Blanche, Cappellini and more––to promote creative discourse around its architectural ooring. The Lab Store will provide a new forum in which to meet, enjoy a meal or coffee prepared by an in-house chef, engage in dialogue about ideas and plans, and receive advice and support from Bolon’s flooring experts.
We were also treated to a wonderful breakfast on the day of our meeting with Bolon, and the Lab Store lived up to its expectation magnificently. Everyone, guests, clients, designers, industry leaders, experts and manufacturers are an integral part of Bolon’s DNA, and they are all treated like members of the Bolon family. The in house chef prepared us exquisite breakfast and exceptional coffee and we were more than welcomed later to make ourselves fully at home in the Bolon world and interact with the exhibitions on display.
We were also treated to some exciting news , Bolons first rug collection which we were allowed to see some sneak peeks. It marks the debut of Bolon’s new direction toward interior design with its collection of rugs. In alternating stripes in muted tones with a subtle shimmer, the rugs are the result of an experiment to combine glitter thread and wool to achieve a tactile effect characteristic of Bolon’s unique refined look and durable quality. Its colour and material palette – the result of an extensive research and development process – take inspiration from the deep jewel tones and moody neutrals of fashion textiles.

As a final note, I would like to thank Bolon for inviting me to experience the opening of The Lab Store, but mostly, for making me feel part of the Bolon family. It is this very magical touch that nurtures all their relationships and propels Bolon into the future. I cannot wait for what comes next for Bolon, keep an eye on the blog for future news.

Hello from Oslo!

This weekend I packed everything my car could fit and drove to Oslo, this time however to stay! I finally found the most beautiful apartment a few weeks ago and from now, you can find me locally in Grünerløkka, hooray!  It is still quite empty since I brought only a few things, but thankfully the previous owner left me their couch to use until I get my own. I am also sleeping on it since I dont have a bed yet, while my duvets and pillows just arrived with the post today!  Did I mention I only have one pair of sheets and a blanket? I feel like a student again and I love it. I wanted a fresh start so I only brought with me a few select things and clothes, but now realize I might have gone too far with my minimalist plan. There are many things that will come by mail as I ordered them before I left, but they could take a few days to be here so for now, the apartment will be without plates or even cutlery for example. I should be ok, after all , sushi only needs a set of chopsticks right? The plan for the next few days is, get a table for the kitchen and a bed, while I ll need several trips to the super market to stock up on necessities. For now I am happy to set up my office on the couch, the windowsills work as side tables perfectly ;) I will be posting more updates on the blog as I settle in, but if you want sneak peeks and live updates of the apartment, just jump over my instagram and stories, for candid moments and moving tips ;)

Home Spotlight | The Private Residence of Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen

I recently got a press release for the new Menu Space, a newly finished showroom, office, and café, designed in collaboration with Norm Architects for Danish design company MENU. While browsing in the downloads folder however I stumbled upon a full set of photo of the the home of Norm Architects founder Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen. Since I am moving this Sunday to Oslo to my new apartment, I thought I was appropriate to share Jonas home first to serve as inspiration, get to know a little bit of his style and where he lives, before sharing the press photos for the new Menu Space which I was lucky to visit first hand a day before its official opening, while in Copenhagen for 3 days of Design (read more about that here).
Some of the items featured in Jonas own home happen to be on the top of my list , from Menu to &tradition to the custom marble office desk that is not for sale unfortunately. However if you are in love with the style, Menus new Plinth tables/podiums will alleviate some of the longing, at least it will for me.

Early Green Mornings

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos

Today I woke up really early ,right when the first rays of sun started hitting our small veranda. Scandinavian days are so long during this time of year, the sun is out almost at 6 in the morning. I usually start my day with water, during winter it is hot water with a little bit of lemon, while during summer I make a carafe with infused water that I keep in the fridge so it is ready whenever I want to enjoy something cool with a little bit of flavor. My favorite is really simple, just add fresh mint, some cucumber, lime and lemon slices in a carafe, fill it up with water and let it infuse for a few hours in the fridge. It coincidentally matches the all green clean white mood in my veranda as well, the look I created for this summer. It is really easy to replicate and budget friendly and it fits small verandas perfectly.
Start with painting the floors and the rails white if you can, but grey rails or black will work just as well. (I painted the veranda white last year and I barely need to wash it, it doesn’t show its dirt at all and my veranda is not covered. The paint handled snow and rain great too, no peeling ). Cafe style chairs and cafe style table match well with the mood I wanted to create, they are easy to find in any store (mine are from Ellos but check measurements first before you order as they run much smaller than the usual cafe style furniture). Add a garland of string lights ( again you can fine the exact ones at Ellos, they are suitable for outside and they also come in black color) , they give off a French country cafe feeling even during the day! For a clean green look choose all green plants , a monstera and a pilea where the plants of my choice, but mostly I just use the plants I already have in the house.
Bring out a magazine, a cup of matcha tea or infused green water and enjoy an all green clean crisp mood in the comfort of your own home ;)

I will leave you with a photo from my instagram stories earlier today, it is not the best resolution, but it gives the exact feeling of a crisp early morning, or at least how my morning was exactly! And such a beautiful warm day it turned out to be!

Summer Wishlist

I haven’t done a wishlist for a while, it is mostly because I have been too busy to even find time to shop, I lately just pop in the store and buy quickly what I need. Summer is here however and there are somethings I want to buy and I thought I should share some of what has been on the top of my wishlist for the last few weeks!

:: For the beach | COS bathing suit that can be worn at the beach but also during the day.
:: For the home I am moving next week and the apartment is quite empty so far, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t smell nice. Aesop is launching a new line with home fragrances in the beginning of July, lucky me Aesop store in Oslo is right next to my door!
:: For me | Speaking of fragrances , Frama released a new perfume St.Pauls. I have smelled it during 3 days of design right before its launch and I cant wait to get one for myself soon.
:: Accessorize | And speaking of moving, a new leather key companion for my new keys from Stolbjerg Copenhagen I think will be very appropriate.
:: For the sunglasses | Don’t change your Raybans for the summer, just change their case
:: For your hair | Summer can be hard on the hair and being Greek and living in perpetual summer has taught me is care for your hair. Kiehls Damage repairing and Dehydrating series is the perfect summer hair companion to your hair.
:: Walk in these | Summer is not only for sandals and open shoes and I need a new pair of adidas, this time in grey.

Styling tip : Brass trays

If you are tired of the small messes next to the bed, the bathroom or the coffee table, just gather your little things in a small/medium tray. I know its a such a simple solution, however it is the simplest solutions we tend to overlook. My tip is, choose a flower pot saucer instead of an actual tray, they tend to be very thin so it will stand out less! My favorites are the Edge brass plates from Skagerak ( in small above and medium below) , but for a less expensive solution the zinc saucers from Granit will also work just as well.

Oslo Design Fair – August ’17

Oslo Design Fair is back again on the 30th of August until the 2nd of September, and this time around I will be in Oslo to enjoy it in its entirety since in a few days I am finally moving to Oslo permanently!
This is the fourth installation of ODF and it is a pleasure to see it grow more and more with every passing year. This autumn the theme will be Past – Future and as always it will be explored through exhibitions, lectures and inspiration areas. One of the exhibitions I am looking forward to is “Everything is Connected” first showcased in Milan fair this spring. A critically acclaimed showing of objects and designs whose concept is deeply rooted in the past in an effort to connect to the future. Stylists Kirsten Visdal and Per Olav Sølvberg are behind the trends exhibition that will interpret the Past -future through interior.
See you there!

Salted Laccino

I have been trying to find a name for my favorite childhood drink that I still drink every morning to this date and I think finally I thought of one that seems very appropriate! I present you with Salted Laccino! It is really not complicated at all just warm up some milk,  add a pinch of sea salt and stir! My grandmother who lived in her farm would make it for me when I was really young, which is probably why I grew up thinking this is the way to drink your milk in the morning. She would get fresh goat milk and bring it to boil, adding a little bit of salt at the end. The way I prepare it is even easier, I just add milk and sea salt in the Nespresso frother and a few seconds later my morning drink is ready. During winter ( or a cold day ) I will have some sort of porridge while during warm days I will possibly skip the salted laccino and make a cold brew with milk instead. I am not big on breakfast, I prefer instead eating something an hour or two later. Again something I have been doing since I was very young, possibly because I would wake up so late to go to school, that I only had time for a rushed milk and then I would eat during breaks. Old habits die hard :)

Hotel Danmark

A few days ago I posted my highlights from 3 Days of Design ( Part 1 and Part 2 ) , but what I haven’t yet shared other than sneak peeks was the place I called home for these couple of design days in Copenhagen. I usually stay at SP34 while in town but this time around Brøchner Hotels happened to open the doors to its new luxury boutique Hotel Danmark that coincided with our stay.  I really wanted to experience the brand new hotel even though it wasn’t yet officially opened so I booked a stay, but I didn’t get to shoot all the spaces for this post that I wanted to (the rooftop terrace and breakfast area were not finished yet for example), which means next time I am in town I could be stopping again for those extra photos. For today however I am glad to share the room that I stayed in and some speak peeks from around the hotel, so scroll down for never before seen photos of the rooms from my perspective ;)

One of the first thing I noticed when I entered my room were the big windows that offer an amazing view of Copenhagen (Tivoli is a few meters away as well) right in front of me. All rooms regardless of size offer the same views, for me light and big windows is a winning point for any hotel room, but also something I value in my own apartment as well ( my new place in Oslo has similar windows and I can’t wait to move in first of July!).  The windowsills are also big enough that when I needed to work I could set up a working spot on any of them and enjoy the view while emailing or editing photos (one of the sneak peeks while I was there was Todays office in Copenhagen where I showed the spot I was working on that day). However the double superior room also offers a very comfortable couch and side tables, a solution I used a lot to work from.

My bed was comfortable ( to my opinion and liking) with Aiayu  details standing out for a luxurious feel. From the Hollie bedspread to the Heather pillows ( not just in the bedroom but also in the living room and lobby of the hotel), the brass and marble details and designer furniture,  Hotel Danmark offers a unique experience that is very connected to Danish design today.

Generally the hotel was not quite finished at the time of my visit, so there were some details that I expect will be fixed by the time it is officially up and running. I will not dedicate time into listing them, however one the things I would like to see fixed would be the bathrooms that did not feel completely renovated. The rest of the hotel has gone into extensive full renovation and it would be a shame for the bathrooms not to receive the same attention as well.

When it comes to the lobby there are two spaces that the now famous and much loved wine hour can be enjoyed , while guests are welcomed to sit outside as well but also on the rooftop terrace too.
Overall and with the exception of a few hiccups that I am sure will be resolved within a few weeks after official opening,  I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Danmark, the rooms were big and beautiful while the stuff was as always very accommodating. If I have any advice is bring a sleep mask, the curtains that are a beautiful cream color are not shielding against the morning light.
Before I wrap up this post, probably I will get this question a lot so this is the perfect time to answer. Do I prefer the new Hotel Danmark or the old and favorite SP34? Both hotels are unique in their design, both luxurious and in a great location but ultimately I find SP34 design more to my style. The fact that it is closer to Metro station is also a plus but the winning lobby and designer bathrooms as SP34 will always win me over.

Spending time in the bedroom

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Room21.no
These past few weeks of constant travelling between Norway/Denmark/Sweden has taken a little bit of a toll on me and I found myself taken with the common cold/flu, probably a bug from the airplane/airport air. I have found a new appreciation in my bedroom, having to spend all day in it for several days has added to that profoundly. This should go without saying, making the bedroom a comfortable and familiar space to be in, but since I have spend even more time here I changed my side of the bed to fit my needs.
I am sure you have seen glimpses on my instagram, I recently got 2 items from Room21.no  from their Menu selection (Menu is among just a few of the leading Scandinavian brands that can be found in Room21) , the Standard Bordlampe and the Jewelry Box in white oak. Never underestimate how useful a lamp can be next to you, no matter how many hours you spend in bed or not, this one sheds the softest light ( adjustable) , while the Jewelry box is really useful for anything you want to hide. I tend to take off all my accessories before I sleep and since my cat likes to play with everything, it is best to just hide them away. The box can be open or closed, it looks great either way, plus the clever design with the mirror makes it very versatile for quick touch ups in the morning. Danish design, you can hardly go wrong with it :)

3 Days of Design : Part 1

As promised today I am sharing a few of my highlights from 3 Days of Design I attended a few days ago in Denmark. If you don’t know already, 3 Days of Design is a design event held annually in Copenhagen for the first 3 days of June. It draws journalists, buyers and design enthusiasts from around the world to Copenhagen, to experience a new and refreshing look on design presented in a unique collaboration between top design companies and designers in their own showrooms. Everyone has the chance to participate at various events, happenings, product launches, exhibitions and design talks while enjoying a breakfast, brunch or dinner being held in most of the venues. It is truly a unique experience and even though this was my first year visiting, I will make room for my calendar already for next year as well.

In today’s and tomorrow’s posts I will share some of my favorite moments from my favorite showrooms and try to pass on some of the spirit of the design festival, if you want to know more, keep reading below!

Curiously enough I am starting my post with the very last place we visited with Elisabeth ( my partner in crime for everything design related ) , the Pop-up at Lindencrones mansion for HAY. The Lindencrones mansion was built in 1753 in a restrained Rococo style and consists of three storeys and a high celler under a black mansard roof. The facade is constructed in limestone ashlars from Lindencrone’s estate at Stevns.
HAY’s continued vision is to create straightforward, functional and aesthetic design in cooperation with some of the world’s most talented, curious and courageous designers. There were many news shown at the
Lindencrones mansion, some of the previews include the Rope Trick light, the Result Chair and Pyramid Collection along with a first preview of the new HAY kitchen market. What is interesting is that the kitchen market will be staying at Lindencrones mansion for a while! For more HAY news and some beautiful lifestyle photos in the mansion, check the gallery here.

At the very top floor at Frederiksgade 1 one can find the beautiful showroom of Overgaard & Dyrman , a contemporary furniture maker who is successfully merging traditional craft techniques with modern technology. We got to see their new Wire Lounge Sofa while I was lucky to find the time to take some photos taking advantage of some peaceful moments during lunch hour. New leathers and colors were also added to the collection and the showroom is boasting a new look so do stop by if you are close! If you are lucky you might get to see some exclusive prototypes or items that are not even for sale, like the beautiful limited edition leather cardholder that caught my eye in one of the cabinets made exclusively for Rogoba in Tokyo (take a glimpse here).

At Frederiksgade 1, a venue that houses some of my favorite showrooms, one can also find on the first floor the House of Finn Juhl.  In 2001 Ivan Hansen and Henrik Sørensen were trusted with the exclusive rights to manufacture and re-launch Finn Juhl’s sculptural and iconic furniture by Finn Juhl’s widow. Today the unique Finn Juhl collection consists of 40 classic masterpieces, all of which House of Finn Juhl manufactures with the utmost respect for the original heritage and strict demands for quality.
For 3 Days of Design, all the iconic chairs were lifted up for a better viewpoint in one of the most memorable and most photographed displays, but even darker corners looked just as unique due to the shape, the aesthetics and the design details that makes for the signature of the House of Finn Juhl.

On the last day we finally took one of the 3 Days of Design boats towards Nordhavnen where we found the showroom and offices of Gubi. A mind blowing beautiful open space hosts designs from Gubi Olsen, Mathieu Mategot, Greta M. Grossman, Henning Larsen Architects to Space Copenhagen , Gamfratesi and many more ( for a full list of the many designers check here ). I showed some of the news from the Stockholms design fair here , most notable the new upholsteries for the Beetle Dining chairs and the new Pedrera Ana Pendant Lamp Black, created as a tribute by Ruiz Millet to the designer of the original Pedrera lamps . I was excited to see everything settling in, along with some of my old time favorites the Multi-Lite pendant and the Stay sofa.

Another interesting stop was at the Fredericia new showroom, at the top of the historic former Royal Mail House in the heart of Copenhagen.
Fredericia presented its entire brand universe for the first time with stories from its founding in 1911 until the present day. Visitors can experience everything from classic design icons by Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner and Nanna Ditzel to creative product news by Jasper Morrison, Aurélien Barbry and Geckeler Michels including an inspiring gallery with special highlights, such as Børge Mogensen’s original 2213 sofa, which for many years stood in the designer’s own home.
For the 3 Days of Design festival we were invited to the tactile and visual experience showcasing iconic and new furniture dressed in innovative fabrics by Kvadrat/Raf Simons along with brunch on the rooftop, a truly amazing experience.

Last but not least, a quick shot back from Frederiksgade 1 of File under Pop.  The vision of File Under Pop is to transform rooms fundamentally by clothing the surfaces. Unique hand crafted ceramic terra-cotta tiles, lavastone, wallpaper and paint are designed for walls, floors and ceilings.
File Under Pop has it’s own production of wallpaper in Copenhagen. Paint is used together with copper- , silver-, white gold- and 23 carat gold leaf. Paint is created in collaboration with Jotun Denmark – a leading Norwegian producer of quality decorator’s paint for more than 85 years. What better when two great ideas come together for a stunning result?

A visit at Skagerak Showroom in Copenhagen

I have been travelling a lot last few weeks and I find it increasingly more difficult to find time to edit the numerous photos I have in my folders in order to make my blogposts in time, thankfully there is always instagram that is always updated in time. When it comes to the blog however, for me nothing beats a little bit more details, insights and bigger photos, but I don’t want to lower the quality of the posts so they have been a little delayed lately. However I am finally back for a few weeks and I will not be travelling again due to moving in July so I will be finally catching up and getting everything in order. Lets do this!

Today I am sharing one of my favorite places I visited during 3 days of design, the Skagerak showroom/ lifestyle store.

Simple frame styling with Desenio and a 25% discount code.

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Desenio.no

As I am packing to move in a few weeks I am constantly wondering what to take with me and how I will style the new apartment. Since it is a rental there are some restrictions although instead of being bothered by it I think it is actually quite fun to find solutions to work around any styling problems. One of the most common is hanging anything on the walls, but while some cannot be helped ( big furniture etc ) , some can have interesting solutions instead! When it comes to frames thankfully they look great on the floor just as much as on the wall, if anything I think I prefer them this way at this point.
With the help of Desenio and their great variety of posters and frames I think I am off to a good start on making a nice little frame corner don’t you think? I started with a few frames and few foggy botanical posters and I will be adding more of this collection soon, I find the bigger this frame arrangement the better it looks.

A small tip for you : Leave a few of the frames empty, it makes for a more delicate arrangement while at the same time it doesn’t look overly styled!

The frames I used are from Moebe and they can also be found at Desenio under their Frames category. When it comes to botanical posters they can all be found under the Botanical category . My top picks and the ones I chose as shown in this post are :

1 | Misty Poster  2 | Palm Silhouette  3 | Foggy Poster

Frama Studio Apartment

I am back home from Copenhagen until Wednesday before I fly to Stockholm ( I will let you in soon about this ), and finally I have some time to look at the photos I have taken during 3 Days of Design and edit them. I have already posted on my Instagram about some of the showrooms I visited but I think my stories are even more fun plus they are always live and in the moment, so if you are wondering where I am and what I am doing, checking up on them is the best place to start! My schedule during 3 Days of Design was very hectic even on the 31st up until the 4th when I left, tomorrow I will be posting about my highlights so stay tuned!
On June 1st me and Elisabeth were invited to the opening party for the Frama Studio Apartment. The space which is the home of Frama founder Niels Strøyer Christophersen and it is only open for public viewing only 3 days per year during the design event in Copenhagen. I took a few photos of some of the rooms, mainly the bedroom, walk in closet and kitchen and dining room, I wish I had more time to go around and shoot more but between mingling and enjoying myself time just flew before we had to dash for the Menu dinner party later that evening. Niels home is an experience on its own, an impeccably styled space but very inviting at the same time. If you happen to visit next year 3 Days of Design don’t miss the public opening, this was one of the most soulful places I got to see during my stay.
Unfortunately I didn’t get to visit the Frama store due to lack of time, but I did get to smell the new fragrance St. Pauls and I highly recommend it, I didn’t buy it in Copenhagen but hopefully Kollekted By in Oslo (which is in my neighborhood very conveniently) will stock it as soon as I move , this and a set of Frama hand wash and cream it will be the perfect gift to myself to celebrate my new apartment!

Todays office in Copenhagen

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
I haven’t posted on my blog last few days, if you follow me on Instagram you already know I am in Copenhagen for a few days now attending 3 days of Design and my schedule is very hectic! In fact I think I am so exhausted at this point that yesterday I felt so sick I had to leave the &Tradition party, and after almost 12 hours of sleep I still don’t feel like myself. Which gives me the time to blog, a little bit of ironic isn’t it. Usually I carry my macbook with me when I go out (even when travelling) since working from a coffee shop is one of my favorite alternative locations, today however I am blogging from my hotel room in Hotel Danmark. I made myself a comfortable spot on one of the big window sills because I love the view, there is nothing quite like working  with Copenhagens city scape in front of you!Hopefully I will be able to get out again today and visit a few more of the showrooms I haven’t had time to visit the last 2 days . While feeling sick is not ideal, I will feel even worse knowing I lost a whole day being inside my hotel no matter how beautiful my room is. I have already posted a few of my highlights on my instagram, plus I am documenting on my instagram stories anything that catches my eye along with highlights of my day, do follow if you aren’t already for live updates. I will be making a post about the hotel and where I have been the last few days while in Copenhagen, it has been very exciting few last days !

Styling ideas for a small apartment

I run into this small apartment styled by Emma Fischer for Bjurfors in Stockholm and I was immediately inspired by her styling of such a small space. With some smartly placed furniture (a few from IKEA as well for a friendlier budget ) Emma has delivered a space that is comfortable to live in, as well as beautiful to look at. I am getting so many ideas from this space for my own apartment in Oslo, although mine is quite bigger than this one, it still only has one bedroom so there will be considerably less space than what I am used to now. A daybed is a great idea, as well as a simple corner office as seen in this apartment. On the other hand I am thinking, since the new kitchen is spacious enough, possibly in the beginning set up a home office there. After all, I only need my macbook and my camera, my set up can be pretty mobile luckily. I am in the lookout for a new kitchen table , I am thinking possibly round but I have neither settled on brand not material/color. Hopefully 3 days of Design will be inspiring enough to get the ideas flowing, I am really looking forward to early releases and possibly new designs. Stay tuned!

Affordable bedroom essentials from Ellos Home

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos
A few days ago I lamented on how it has been very difficult to find an apartment in Oslo that would tick at least some of my most important boxes (a more in depth discussion about it can be found here) . Luck had it however that a friend decided to rent out her apartment instead of selling it, and with an incredible sigh of relief I can finally stop my search! The apartment is very beautiful, high ceilings, big windows, beautiful floors, marble bathroom and packed with character, right in the middle of Grünerløkka. I cannot wait until first of July to take it over, but until then, I can finally start planning!

Moving can be more expensive than originally thought and can quickly get out of hand if not careful. There are so many essentials that need to be bought or things to be done that we don’t really consider as extras , at the end it can completely throw us off budget. Searching for affordable solutions without sacrificing quality can be daunting, so I hope today’s tip will help out, whether you are moving to a new place like I am or not! One of the first rooms I will tackle before even moving in is the bedroom. Really I can sit on a sheepskin on the floor when it comes to the living room and I don’t need a table or chairs asap, but a bed and linens is something that has to be in before me.
Ellos Home own line, when it comes to house essentials, is remarkably versatile and especially when it comes to the bedroom products I give them top points on their quality. Their selection of linens is quite big with something for everyone, while there are bed skirts to dress the bed if it doesn’t look great and elevate its look as well as quilts, throws, pillows and pillowcases and duvets, practically everything that one might need when it comes to bedding. Below you can find some of my favorites, expect to see them in my new bedroom come July!

Remember if you log in your account in Ellos, under the tab Offers/ Tilbud there can always be found great codes tailored for your account, for example one of mines is 40% off my most expensive item with a bedlinen gift or 10% off the whole cart! –

Guest bathroom organization tips and tricks

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Room21.no

When it comes to having guests in the house, I always try to make them feel at home. I find that a few touches can be really thoughtful and welcoming, just what your friend needs when they visit. I have a few tips and tricks to share that work well plus they give a personal touch!

:: Think outside the “box” | The Jewelry Box in ash by Menu ( can be found at Room21.no ) can serve as more than just an organizer for jewelry , here I fill it with cotton pads, a travel size hand cream, some cotton swabs, anything that my guest would want to have in the bathroom for their day-night routine care. The box is very versatile since its lid also has a mirror in one side that can conveniently be propped up, while when it closes the top part can be used for a space to lay your watch or rings before sleep, so they can be easily found next day in the morning.
:: Use your travel sized goodies | Something else I always do, is leave travel sized essentials from my favorite brands for my guests to use. This way they get to try my most loved products without having to have an extra full size, plus I can always refill them easily and take them with me when I travel!
:: Mini soaps trick | I always get one of the small soaps when I visit hotels from the bathroom. I love bringing them back and using them, they remind me of the time I spend while on holidays , the smell just brings me back. With my traveling however they tend to accumulate so, I find that filling a jar or a vase with mini soaps (check last photo) not only is useful but it looks quite nice as well! Plus all the hotels tend to have great brands, my vase is filled with Diptyque, Aesop, Penhaligon’s etc Whats not to love when it comes to having such variety?

Sneak peek news from Melo Studio

//Photography and Styling by Sara Medina Lind
I have been a fan of Sara’s work for a long time not just as a photographer and stylist ( her work can be found at Sara Medina Lind ) but also as the design force behind Melo Studio, a design brand that came to life to celebrate handcrafted minimalism. So far Melo Studio has been known for its exquisite handmade ash pieces in Dalarna,  unique in their craftsmanship and design. I was so excited to find out about the birth of a new line of ceramics and to share a sneak peek today on the blog, I love the soft lines but at the same time the powerful raw texture. I cannot wait to see more of this beautiful new line, until then, keep an eye on the blog for more updates or follow Melo Studio  on Instagram for further sneak peeks and news.

Calm moments in the living room

I have been back from Zurich a couple of days now and I am especially enjoying sitting in the living room. Some new books, some new items , spring feeling and some rays of sun, everything makes for an atmosphere that I especially enjoy being apart of,  so this is where I can be found with my macbook working the week away. I needed some rest from travelling I think, because I have hardly ventured out of the house other than to shop and visit family. It feels good to be able to relax with a cup of tea and finally focus on everything that needed my attention, in fact I have gotten more work done this week than any other, right at this spot. The next few days are filled with photoshoots and stylings, I really can’t wait to show you some of the things I have been working on but also a new and exciting project I have just started creating! But before I go, happy 17th of May Norway! Gratulerer med dagen !

Travel Diaries : Marktgasse Hotel in Zurich

//Travel and accommodation was sponsored by Marktgasse Hotel in Zurich.

A few days ago I traveled to Zurich where I stayed in one of the most beautiful boutique hotels the Marktgasse Hotel. If you have been following me on instagram you have already seen some sneak peeks and video stories so you know how it looks, however today I edited some of my favorite photos from my visit and I am going to take you on an official tour! I had a hard time choosing from my photos so today’s post will have a little more than usual, but I think this is a special occasion!
Before we start you can also see some stills from my room in Todays office in Zurich post while for a different point of view check my friends Elisabeth Heier post whom I had the joy of travelling with together.

The Marktgasse Hotel is a destination on its own when in Zurich. Just a short walk from the cities top sightseeing highlights, the lake and the main train station, situated right in the middle of the old town. A building from the 15th century that recently got a comprehensive renovation that carefully and lovingly preserved the heritage elements that enjoy protected status. The result is a timeless unique building that mixes history with contemporary design, from the Mayor AJ5 & Tradition sofas in the reception area and the Gubi Grossman Gräshoppa Task Table lights , Gubi Grossman Cobra wall Light , Gubi 3D Stool , Artek Stool 60, Dante Memoir Hanger while the rooms are equipped with a desk and chairs from Københavns Møbelsnedkeri . There are plenty of magazines to browse through while sitting in the relaxing sitting area at the lobby such as 59 Magazine and Nopi Cookbook along with many travel guides to point you to the right direction while in Zurich.

While in the lobby one can find complimentary Nespresso and a variety of tea served in Kinto teapots and mugs, a small luxury I enjoyed everyday while working in the pleasant environment and planning the day ahead. You can choose to relax with a magazine in the reception area sitting in the comfy Mayor sofas, or if you are like me and like to work a little bit as well there is a variety of options to choose from! In the lobby I found myself usually sitting on the long table so I could have more room to work while enjoying my tea. There are nooks by the windows with computers for guests to use as well while if you like more privacy and less commotion, a short half a floor away you can find the library and the living room.

When it comes to breakfast, the Delish Cafe juxtaposed to the hotel (the elevator takes you right in the middle of the cafe)  offers a great breakfast variety as well as a great selection of pastries and one of the best lunches I had the pleasure of having in the city. I really liked  the idea of the cafe being open for everyone during and after breakfast, it gave a feeling of casual gathering of the guests along with the locals, probably gathering at the cafe for their renowned homemade cinnamon buns that would disappear by midday.
If it is dinner or a drink you are seeking instead, the Baltho Restaurant and Baltho Bar at the hotel offer great food and drinks! Same concept of openness invites everyone to join, I particularly liked the buzzing warm atmosphere at the bar, were we could be found every night after exploring the city.

As I mentioned before, I showed a sneak peek of the room in my Todays office in Zurich post , and finally today I am able to show more! The boutique hotel in its entirety was stunning, but my personal favorite was in fact my very own room. From the striking original floors, the original and carefully restored painted grey panels that covered the rooms, the big windows to the carefully selected furniture , the room invites you to stay in and relax. I spend as many hours as I could afford on the Københavns Møbelsnedkeri desk and chair working, drinking my tea and trying to take in my environment and the view of the old town from my ceiling high windows ( a total 3 on my corner shaped room). A detail I really liked, the custom made shelf on the wall, used for magazines but more importantly for a carafe that I could refill with fresh water just outside my room on a stone basin.

All bathrooms are equipped with Aesop products, it really felt like home since I am using the exact same products, plus I didn’t need to bring with me as many as I usually do! You can ask before arrival for a bathroom with natural light, they usually have marble details under the windows which in my opinion gives a feeling of luxury when you leave your make up bag on! All bathrooms are newly renovated in a black and white minimalistic scheme.

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
I enjoyed my stay at the Marktgasse Hotel immensely , I would love to visit again next time I m in Zurich for either business or fun!
A special thank you to the very helpful staff and the General Manager, Olivier Gerber, who all make me feel so very welcomed.

Sunday tips

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Stelton.
I love having some flowers in the house, I am not a big bouquet kind of person but a few select blooms always lift up my mood. Today I took a short walk outside and discovered a small bed of wild poppies, they are so beautiful even when not in full bloom! I selected a variation of them (some with closed some with bloomed buds) so they would look even more delicate in the vase by the bed. And here is my tip of the day which I am sure you saw coming, when spring is in the air, always try to venture out in case you find a hidden flower bed, wild flowers are so much more beautiful in my eyes than any other flowers! And much more economical as well ;)
For the vase I chose the new Concave Vase from Stelton ( mine is in size medium) designed by Søren Refsgaard. I really like how the powder coated aluminum body contrasts with the polished steel ring top, I have been using mine just as decoration without any flowers in the last few weeks, it looks great with or without blooms!

The other new addition in the bedroom is the carafe I am currently using (always have water by the bed) also from Stelton and it is their new Emma serving Jug 2l along with their Simply Glass glasses in grey. The Emma pitcher combines stainless steel and a beach wood handle for a contemporary look, while the glasses are in minimalistic design with the gray shade elevating them from the ordinary. You can see them also in my kitchen here , I will move the pitcher around the house during the day, as for the glasses, it is always good to have more than 12 as a set so there are always extra when you need them!

The hunt continues for the perfect apartment in Oslo

One of my favorite upcoming stylists Annaleena Leino, styled an apartment for Alexander White agency, and the result is breathtaking. I am now looking for inspiration more intensively since I am looking for an apartment in Oslo for my move, and this is one I would move in immediately, furniture and all.
My plan was to move by June however it seems the search for the perfect apartment is going on forever. Since I will be renting I cannot expect it to be “perfect” but I am looking for something with big windows and in classic style, 3 rooms , bedroom, living – dining room, kitchen. If there is one more bedroom in my price range that would be ideal. However it seems everything I find is either perfect size perfect price but kitchen and bathroom have not been renovated for a long long time, or completely out of my price range. Some are in bad location, some have floors that just wont photograph well at all, some are even great but with no bedroom (kitchen-living room-bedroom one room). I am not in a hurry but I am getting increasingly disappointed since most are handled through agencies that will not let me speak with the owners to possibly reach an understanding before I move (for possible renovations), and I cannot possibly commit to an apartment that would look great if the very old bathroom, kitchen and floors were fixed. And so the hunt continues , I am hoping I will be able to find something that will tick most of my boxes!

Juicery 21 in Zurich

I just came back home from Zurich yesterday and although I want to make a post about some of my favorite places to visit while in town, I am not sure I will have enough photos for it, but for today let me tell you about this little gem we found with Elisabeth ( from Elisabeth Heier, do visit her for additional photos and her view of Zurich and our stay) while trying to find a place to sit in the rain and eat lunch. Juicery 21 in Zurich can be found near the Botanical Garden of Zurich, very close to the old city center. The Swedish young cool owner took great care not only with the products that he is serving but also with the styling of the cool lunch/coffee spot. Here you can find not only spectacular healthy fresh cold press juices, but also a variety of raw shakes, smoothies, acai or oatmeal or quinoa bowls, bagel sandwiches and warm blends. Sit inside or outside on Menu WM String dining chairs and enjoy either a few minutes of relaxation , or stay more if you like and work . The music and atmosphere are very relaxing, perfect work environment, their playlist is up on Juicery21 website! I had a quinoa warm bowl for lunch ( as seen below) while I brought back with me at the hotel a fresh cold pressed juice ( Hot Lemon blend – lemon/apple/ginger) to drink next day in the morning before breakfast ( and yes, I brought the bottle back with me in my suitcase!). I wish we had something similar in Oslo, I can promise you I would be there every single day and I know a lot of others that would as well. Maybe we can convince the cool Swedish guy to move back closer to Scandinavia?

Todays office in Zurich

I woke up today in Zurich in my room at the Marktgasse Hotel , the most beautiful morning light was softly filling the room. Before I go out and explore the city, and after having breakfast downstairs at the hotels cafe/brunch shop (it is open for locals as well during the day), I made myself comfortable at my office desk in my room to finish up some work. Usually I rather work at the lobby of hotels (with my trusty macbook, my phone and my notebook from Paper Collective’s collaboration with Sørensen Leather ) , and although Marktgasse Hotel lobby is truly beautiful, I couldn’t resist sitting on the Københavns Møbelsnedkeri desk and chair, while enjoying the beautiful view of the old town. One of the details that I loved, are the Kinto teapot (latest brand crush) and cup that can be found in the lobby where there is a small kitchen that guests can make their own coffee and tea during the day, I chose to bring mine in my room since I would be working for a few hours. I will be sharing more photos of the hotel and its beautiful details soon, but for now, I need to start exploring while the sun is up! Check my instagram stories for live updates and snippets from my explorations while in Zurich!

Fresh starts and memories

As my move to Oslo draws closer and closer and I am starting to organize what I will be bringing with me , I can’t help but also think of what I will be leaving behind. The house I live in, although far from perfect, it has been my home for the last few years and I have had many good memories here. The room I will miss the most however is definitely the bedroom. I am sure I will make a cozy nook in my new apartment however I doubt it will be better than this newly renovated one. Even on a cleaning day (photo below), this space has so much character and charm, but instead of feeling sad for leaving it I will focus on feeling excited for a fresh start! The bedroom doesn’t have a lot of furniture so by default I will not be taking too much with me (something I am thankful for), but I will probably need some sort of extra storage space, something to think about in the future though. I am sharing some photos today of some of my favorite nooks from my bedroom, scroll down for more!
In other news, I am travelling to Zurich tomorrow in a surprise destination, so this is a good time to be checking on my instagram stories, as I am always updating them often when traveling! I wont reveal too much here,  I think since this is not a trip for a fair , some mystery will be nice! See you on my stories!

SHADE : Norm Architects new Collaboration with Sørensen Leather

I am always keeping a close eye on cool collaborations in the design world and Sørensen is one of my favorites to watch closely. I met with them in the Trends and Traditions meet up in Copenhagen a few days ago and I had the chance to check on the beautiful new leather palettes that were produced from their collaboration with Note Design Studio, the lookbook with the samples alone was something I would gladly keep on my desk as decoration. I am very excited about everything Sørensen is up to and for todays post two of my favorites to watch are combined in the form of a new and exciting collaboration. Norm Architects have launched Shade a velvety soft leather collection created to reflect the quiet, innate beauty of muted, earthy tones. The leather selection is quite unique with high-quality protected Aniline leather, and as shown in the photo perfectly fits an Afteroom chair. I was already considering getting Afteroom chairs for my new kitchen and now with the addition of Shade leather, it will be hard to think of any other contender!

New and favorite Kitchen essentials

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos.
While I am planning my move to the apartment soon I am in the process of thinking what to take with me, what to leave at the cabin and what to donate/give away. Moving is a good time to purge of any extra or old things with no sentimental value, but I will make a different post on how to deal with something like that efficiently soon enough!
When it comes to the kitchen, a few things I will be taking with me include a set of plates from Marimekko I got from Ellos ( series Oiva), along with their cups, bowls and teapot.  I like the simple design and even though I am not sure of how the new space will look like I am sure these will fit in the new kitchen very well. Some other new additions that I barely use so I can take them with me new are new cutting/serving boards from Bloomnigville and brass measuring spoons ( also found at Ellos ),  cheese cutlery with marble handle from Ellos Home line (found here) as well as a coffee dripper. I am still considering what else to include and boxes are already on the floor with things, but for now I will opt to only put in them completely new things, and I will see what I ll do with the old!

Hotel SP34 in Copenhagen

A few days ago I posted Today’s office as I was working in the lobby of SP34 Hotel in Copenhagen. Even though I have been to Copenhagen a few times , this was my first stay at SP34 and I can see this hotel becoming a regular from now on (unless the new Hotel Danmark proves to be an equally great place to stay!). I loved the cool hues in my room, the attention to details, the big windows and ample light, the surfaces and the play on the different materials, everything has a design story to tell. From the spacious lobby where you can work during the day that is comfortably buzzing from the company of the other like minded visitors, to the incredible organic breakfast that is served in Väkst, the in house restaurant, SP34 is the place to call home in Copenhagen, at least for me. Next time I visit I will make sure to take more photos of the lobby and Väkst

A new type of imprint : New edition launch at Frama Showroom

If you have been following my stories on Instagram then you have already seen some sneak peeks from the launch of the new edition of A new Type of Imprint , a magazine and platform on creative culture and design, that was held in the Frama Showroom in Copenhagen. In celebration of their 10th issue and their very first jubilee, the annual magazine comes in a special edition box that includes the People Passions Places magazine and an illustration by Laila Myrseth Tryggeseth. Number 10 of A new type of Imprint continues its travels in the Nordics, visits Denmark in a journey to uncover cool and talented Danes all the while challenging our ideas about Danish design. Dont miss its extensive reportage on new and exciting Norwegian creatives as well coming in the form of interviews, essays, photo series and illustrations, this issue is here to impress!

I was so glad I stopped by and got to meet editor-in-chief Veronica Mike Solheim, and even happier I had my camera on hand and managed to shoot a few photos of Frama and the launch of the magazine. Definitely a must visit if you happen to be in Copenhagen. Don’t be fooled by the photos, the space was packed! Hope you enjoy this small tour, I tried to capture the mood of Frama along with some of their products, while enjoying the party!

Today’s Office

I am back at Copenhagen for the Trends and Traditions 2017 meeting,  and I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else but at SP34 boutique hotel by Brøchner Hotels . I arrived sooner than expected and due to a system error my room wasn’t ready so the helpful stuff treated me to free drinks as I was waiting for everything to be in order. I had some work to do regardless so I made myself comfortable at what I think is the hotels premium spot for working down in the lobby. I will make sure to snap some photos from my room, but since I love shooting with natural light it will have to wait until tomorrow. Until then feel free to follow my stories on Instagram for timely updates of my whereabouts, beautiful Copenhagen views and of course, everything new and exciting from Trends and Traditions 2017 and the after parties!

Stylish Grey Apartment with a cleverly hidden bedroom.

While spending time at the summer cabin for Easter at my free time I am always looking for inspiration and ideas on small apartments. Thinking ahead about moving to Oslo in summer, it is very exciting but I am fully aware I am moving from a house to an apartment where space is limited. I am already cutting down on what I am going to be bringing with me but even so, I think I will find myself short in space more often than not. When I saw this beautiful grey apartment on Fantastic Frank, it resonated with me so much that I had to share. It is a very small apartment (I am looking for something little bigger regardless) but its styling is exactly what I am envisioning. Notice the clever partition in the middle of the living room? Behind it there is just enough space for a hidden bed, and it is done in a way that the “bedroom” still has ample light, texture, while it is completely hidden from the stylish living room. In a brilliant twist, the built double doors lead nowhere but they give depth in the design of the partition, making it feel more substantial, while it creates just enough space for the bed to hide behind. Swoon!

Simple Easter Table setting ideas

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos.

With Easter being around the corner, this week is the perfect week for inspiration for setting the table up. I would recommend a more elaborate styling for more people, but today I decided to share a few ideas for a young couple that is just starting out in a new home, possibly sharing the table with another couple for Easter breakfast.
I used simple white tableware from Marimekko I found in Ellos ( the line is called Oiva and it has a matching teapot) and decided to bring a little bit of Easter feeling on the table with an Okra colored linen thick tablecloth. Silverware are great if you have them but for a younger couple these matte black cutlery from Bloomingville also found on Ellos will make a contrast statement.

Tip | Instead of arranging the cutlery, just loosely place it next to each plate. This will make the table setting look more playful and fun!

I also filled the plates with small waffle linen towels, while I placed a vase with a few white lilies in the middle for the aroma and to bring a little softness on the table. Breakfast is served!

Hotel Danmark by Brøchner Hotels

I have known for a while that Brøchner Hotels are opening a new 4+ Luxury Boutique hotel in the best location in Copenhagen, central and right next to, and the first photos do not disappoint. I have already booked a room at the newly renovated Hotel Danmark in the following weeks, I am very looking forward to experiencing the rooftop terrace with the 360 city view, the urban indoor vineyard and the conceptual in-house restaurant. The hotel opens on the 3rd of May but I will be travelling to Zurich for a fun project on that exact date so I couldnt go to the opening, however after a few weeks I will be back in Copenhagen and ready with my camera to snap some photos to share. Is is so fun to shoot in a space that is not already exposed in the media as much, finding those spots and details that catch the eye in never seen before footage, I honestly cannot wait!

Jaime Hayon for Republic of Fritz Hansen

While I could not attend Salone del Mobile in Milan this year ( sadly missing all the cool parties as well), I have been keeping a close eye on the news. An early favorite is the new Lune modular sofa by Jaime Hayon for the Republic of Fritz Hansen. Jaime Hayon’s take on an aesthetic and welcoming modular sofa that doesn’t look like a modular sofa at all. Whether a 2 seater, a 3 seater or a 10 seater, the result is a timeless and sculptural design that meets functionality under the carefully curated Jamie Hayon’s artistic style. I have been thinking what couch I could get for my apartment when I move to Oslo and I have to say Lune just went on the top of my list.

Another favorite of mine from the Fritz Hansen collection the Fri Lounge chair by Jamie Hayon just got released in new colors as well, Dark grey, Beige and Iris Blue, the perfect complement piece for the new Lune Sofa. I particularly like the moody blue color with the matching legs, its curvy approach of design matches so well with my design philosophy as of late.

Styling with Corals

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos.
Some items have the ability to create calm vibes in your environment, and being from Greece I have always kept corals around me for styling for exactly this reason. Whether they have healing abilities as many believe it is not for me to say, however I find that their petrified softness gives me peace of mind when I glance towards their direction especially when going through tough times. Corals can be placed almost anywhere in the house, on the living room table on top a stack of magazines, by the bedside under the windowsill, even in the bathroom near the sink. Today I am sharing some of my favorite spots to place a coral in the home.  If they are native to your country then a walk on the beach on a warm afternoon is all you need, but if they aren’t, I have found a nice selection at Ellos Home. The small one as seen in the photos is the Dekor Korall hight 10 cm while there is a bigger one as well the Korall Serlina as seen here. Up until the 4th of April you can also get 25% of your whole purchase from Ellos, always a good way to get something that has been in your wishlist for a long time!

New additions : Muuto Ripple Throw

While at Stockholm Furniture and Light fair, one of my highlights was the Muuto stand. I experienced first hand some of my favorites from the new designs : The Outline chair by Anderssen & Voll , the new Ripple throw by Margrethe Odgaard and the beautiful new Workshop chair by Cecilie Manz . I think I jumped for joy when I opened the door today to find out I had a Muuto delivery that contained one of the Ripple throws in a beautiful auburn brown color. The fabric is quite unique, it looks monochrome at a quick glance from far away however, as one gets closer all the beautiful intricate details are revealed in its textured form. It is just the right amount of color for my bedroom as well, a perfect companion to the rest of the colors.

Bathroom tips

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with ByLassen.

I just came back from Oslo yesterday and I am already dreaming about a new bathroom in the city. While in Oslo I managed to sneak in visiting some potential apartments, some with bigger or smaller bathrooms. Generally it is quite hard to find a big bathroom in the city, storage is always something to think about. Organizing some of my things in trays or boxes is my go to solution, with or without their lids. Today I chose some of By Lassen’s range of Frame accessories to round up few of my beauty essentials, while I also decided to put some of the smaller bottles on the window, I think they look perfect right there! The Frames come in 3 sizes and different color combinations, for my bathroom I chose the Frame 14 in the new dark blue color and the Frame 20 in smoked oak to store bigger items. And if they don’t fit in my new bathroom, I will just move them in the living room or the bedroom for storage!

Windowsills

//Photography by Katerina Dima
I have a love for windowsills and Elisabeth’s apartment (where I have been staying the last few days while in Oslo) has the most beautiful big windows and high ceilings. I came to Oslo for a couple of press events ( Iittala press event for their Table reset campaign , and Georg Jensen Damask  press event where Andreas Engesvik spoke about his new work and the design process behind it), some meetings and scouting out locations for a new appartment. All in all a busy few days that as always turned out too much fun! It is getting harder and harder to leave the city that already feels so much like home and go back to the beautiful fjords, especially since it feels I am always in the company of the best ambassadors for Oslo city and Grunnerløkka neighborhood!

The Kerferd House : By Whiting Architects

As an architect myself I fully appreciate when I see projects that feature elegant design inside and out. A great example is the The Kerferd House by Whiting Architects ,a beautifully renovated house by architect Steven Whiting and Carole, his creative-director wife.
The details of this renovation are, I think, worthy of looking into more carefully. From the beautiful materials that adorn the walls that seem to coexist perfectly juxtaposed to the original presently exposed brick walls, to the selection of muted colors that accentuate not only the design but also the shape of the cleverly designed spaces. Do check the rest of their residential projects for more inspiration or even for ideas on minimal architectural design.

New Tone Cabinets by Norm Architects

Norm Architects need no introduction on this blog, the architectural team based in Copenhagen are behind many big projects few among them exceptional designs for Menu as well as well as most notable renovations for The Village, &Tradtion headquarters in Copenhagen or The Kinfolk Gallery. Today I am sharing one for their newest projects, one I was happy to see up and close at Stockholms design fair a month ago the sound absorbing cabinets for Zilenzio .

“Designed to absorb certain frequencies of sound where it is needed the most, our new collection of acoustic furniture for Zilenzio was designed to improve sound in the spaces that matters to you the most. Entitled Tone Cabinets, these sound dampening design pieces were made to help built a balanced acoustic environment in the workplace or at home, ultimately making it easier to focus and concentrate.” By Norm Architects.

As I will be moving to Oslo soon this is a great idea for a city apartment, the design is flawless and I need cabinets that I won’t want to hide, plus they will work on transforming the new space into an acoustic haven.

Pilea Love : How to propagate your Pilea

//Photography by Katerina Dima

I am so happy to see my little pileas grow. I propagated them from the only pilea peperomioides I have and since it was my first time I really did not know what to expect. It turns out it was quite easy : with a sharp knife cut the new pileas that naturally grow around the plant, then plant them in a new pot (I found a useful video here). Water when the dirt dries and keep in a sunny window. After a while the pilea baby will start to grow once its new roots take in the new soil. It took about two (maybe even a little more) months before the two that I propagated started to show any growth though. There are many techniques as far as I read, one suggests putting the new pilea in water until it grows roots, another that states the pot must have a drainage hole, and another that suggests using a pot without it. I used pots with and without drainage holes and the baby pileas show the same growth, in fact the pilea without the drain takes longer for its soil to dry so it needs less watering thus making it easier to maintain.

Beige in the Bedroom : Early Spring signs

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos. All opinions are my own.
As the weather continues to surprise us every day, from intense snowing to intense sunlight and warmth after just a few hours, I can’t help but dream of spring. While for most people spring translates to bright yellows, greens and pinks, to me all the exploding colors of the nature outside are enough, which is why I chose to bring spring inside my bedroom with various tones of beige, a color that to me represents tranquility and mindfulness.  In other words, perfect combination for the bedroom! I like to change my pillows often but when it comes to the fabric, I almost always stick to linen. I have had my eye on a particular design of pillowcases on Ellos Home for some time now and when they arrived on Friday I was so glad to see they fit with my plan perfectly. The pillowcases Putevar Candra in washed linen come in many different combinations, but I chose a plain white/silver so it would pop out against with my beige duvet covers and the rest the pillows. As the weather gets warmer I find that linen is perfect to sleep on, so all my bed covers are in linen as well by choice. My duvet covers are the Sengesett Candice in washed linen  (color beige), while the ice blue/white blanket is the Pledd Hannelin in washed linen (color grey-blue) also from Ellos home. And with this change of color, I am happy until summer!

Friday Thoughts

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima

Lately I have lost track of time, so it came as a surprise that today its friday. Between tax season, renovating downstairs and keeping up with the blog and freelance work, I am so behind that I doubt I will have any time during weekend to relax. And with some press events coming to Oslo next week that I will be attending, I will definitely have my hands full next few days. Looking forward to sharing some highlights from the trip, as always the best place if you want to keep up is my Instagram. When I travel I always update my stories daily, it is a great way to show where I am or what I am doing in a fun and refreshing way!

The IKEA House

Livet Hemma (Life at home) is the IKEA inspirational blog, where various notable stylists and photographers regularly contribute posts, mostly including IKEA products, styled and photographed to reflect the Scandinavian style and way of life. New IKEA designs include updated materials, silhouettes and colors, all curated towards mirroring new trends in Scandinavian design. I regularly visit the blog for inspiration, today I am sharing some of my favorite photos as of late that make up for a full home tour, a home I would gladly move in today even. Below you can find inspiration for the office, the living room, the kitchen, the bathroom and the bedroom. I particularly love the new color palette, green and beige is a combination I turn to a lot lately. The details in some of the photos below are equally notable, I am convinced I need an IKEA herringbone counter in my next kitchen!

Birthday Girl

Today its my birthday and I treated myself to some gifts. Some magazines and books that were missing from my collection and a new Byredo perfume and bath products. The magazines arrived yesterday (photo above) while the Byredo additions probably will be here by the end of the week. When you shop for yourself time is irrelevant! Even though I am quite busy, I am trying my hand in a cake, the recipe of which I found in the Kinfolk Table book, Hummingbird cake with Cream cheese frosting. Fingers crossed! If there is any left by tomorrow I ll be sure to snap some photos :) And with these few words, I need to rush and get the cake out of the oven and then finish off my new media kit!

Dream Collaboration for Rum Hemma

I have been waiting for the full spread of these photos since Sara Medina Lind and Pella Hedeby teased some previews on their instagram accounts and surely enough , the dreamy collaboration is a stunning collection of soft minimalism. The resulting photos can be seen at this months Rum Hemma. Pella and Sara Medina used some of my personal favorites for this shoot when it comes to interior , but most of all I cannot wait for the COS SS 17 line to hit the stores! I have seen some of the items already in a closed press preview (some of them are pictured above) and I can only say, if you like soft lines, cotton, linen and hemp, you will love what is to come.

Spring Tip

I get a lot of questions about my avocado trees, and if I have one tip (earned from a few years of experience now), is to plant them early around January so they start growing when spring hits. They get most of their growth these following few months so if you want to plant one,  now is the best time. I have grown 3 now and although they grow a little bit during winter they do show almost triple the growth during Spring and Summer. Since I live in a small city for the time being, it is very hard to come by fresh flowers of my taste so I prefer either planting my own or buying a plant when I visit Oslo or Bergen. Avocado trees are very elegant and easy to grow, while they only need water and little care after that. Plus I always feel so guilty to throw all those stones! If you want a simple guide on how to grow your own from an avocado stone I made a blogpost a while ago (with step by step photos) that might be useful to a beginner. Now I am off to work for a few hours on my tax return and receipts, the glamorous side of my job!

Bedroom Update

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos. All opinions are my own.

I have been wondering what to put on the other side of the bed for a long time now ( you can see my side here ) as up until this point it was actually empty. Due to the bed taking a lot of room and its alignment under the window , this side has very little space as it is and I did not want to overwhelm it. I found that the best solution was to mount a lamp on the wall directly above the shelf, this way there is still just as much space as before for everything else I might want to include! I found my lamp on Ellos Home , it is the K-Fab Vegglampe Dexter and I combined it with an Edison type bulb the Led lyspære 64 mm that emits a soft  yellowish light. I hid the long wire behind some books and with the addition of a pilea on a stool and some books, this corner is now finally looking exactly as I had in my mind. The lamp can easily move from side to side completely which makes it ideal for this corner of my bedroom. I really like how a small addition can change a corner completely and this one took me less than 15minutes to achieve (see how it looked before here). Ellos extensive lamp selection can be found at Ellos- Belysning while there is a special offer of 40% off the most expensive item during the whole weekend in your basket, if you want to make a similar change as I did now is a good chance!

Gothenburg – Hotel Pigalle

As I mentioned in the previous post, I spend the weekend in Gothenburg with my friend and colleague Elisabeth Heier ( you can see some snaps of her home as shot by me here) where we attended Fridas Trendensers influencers meetup. My hotel of choice this time was Pigalle, a destination on its own while in Gothenburg, not only for a place to stay but also for its great restaurant the Atelier, which is situated on the top floor (where breakfast is served in the mornings) as well as for a drink at the Bar Amuse located at the lobby. The hotel has a special old Parisian vibe, from the decoration to the music that serenades you as you walk around, and even the elevator has something to tell you secretly while you wait..It is truly a unique experience and I would heartily recommend at least visiting Pigalle while in Gothenburg. Below you can find some photos I took during my stay, my room, the Atelier and finally the lobby.

Beautiful apartment in Oslo

As you might have noticed if you follow me on Instagram, I spent this weekend at Gothenburg, where I attended Trendensers influencers meetup. The meetup was very inspirational and informative, we had a lot of fun and it was great meeting everyone involved. I traveled to Gothenburg late Friday night by train from Oslo, accompanied by my friend and colleague Elisabeth Heier from ElisabethHeier ( I will share some photos of some of the highlights soon). Before we left for Gothenburg I managed to snap some quick photos of her beautiful apartment found in Grünerløkka ,that she has styled herself to perfection shortly after moving in( you can see more photos of her home in Oslo in her blog, under the Interior category). Some of my favorite designs can be seen in the dining room and living room, Inbetween &tradition table, Semi Pendant by Gubi in chrome, SV6 Marble Light Table Lamp by &tradition, Aura Mirror by Bjørn van den Berg, a page from Plethora magazine serves as wall decoration, just to name a few. There is nothing out of place although in her words she still has plans to introduce some designs and finish up styling.  Elisabeth is an unending source of inspiration and I cant wait to see whats next, especially since I am moving to Oslo soon myself.
