Perpective Studio in Stockholm

While in Stockholm for the Furniture and Light fair, I managed to find some time on the very last afternoon to visit Perpective, a new space that works as a Lifestyle store & design studio. I found many favorite designs in the store and I left with some things that have been in my wishlist for a while along with music recommendations from the very engaging owner Robin (check Available from Erik Rapp). The studio is located at Sankt Eriksplan 15 in Stockholm while their online store is due to open very soon. If I was in the city however I would just stop by, if only to enjoy the beautiful space and catch the latest news from Robin. Below you can find some of the photos I shot during my last visit, my only regret not having enough time to visit during the day for moodier photos in natural light!

Residence Bookazine

After a long hike in the snow, I will gladly spend the rest of my Sunday on the couch finally catching up with the new Residence bookazine I got while in Stockholm. Its a busy week ahead plus I will be travelling to Goteborg for a long weekend, today might be the only chance I get for some rest so I am taking advantage of it. I post many live updates on my instagram stories, so if you are curious what I am up to, feel free to follow me there!

SFF Stockholm 2017 : Part 2

As promised today I am sharing Part 2 from my time at Stockholm’s Furniture and Light fair with some of the things that caught my eye (Check part 1 here).
At Louis Poulsen their vision is to create designs that forms light. To complement the environment with just the right light. Light which gives a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. The Panthella MINI (as seen above) is a smaller version of Verner Panton’s classic lamp from 1971, and I think it embodies that vision perfectly. As captured above, in a combination of black and white acrylic, both lamps emanate a soft light that hugs their environment in the softest way.
A few weeks ago I wrote about the news from &Tradition , I was looking forward to seeing some of the new designs and additions and I was not disappointed. Some of my favorites include the brand new In Between stools and the Working Title table lamp as seen above while I also spotted new sizes (below) for the very successful Fly series by Space Copenhagen : A new one seater and a taller sofa table.
One of the places I absolutely want to visit next time I am in Copenhagen (hopefully before 3 days of design in June) is the Frama headquarter and Studio Store, located in central Copenhagen in the historic and protected neighborhood of Nyboder. I stopped by their stand and was treated to the beautiful Frama world of hues and unique craftsmanship. Frama won this years award for Kitchen of the year at Elle Decoration Swedish awards, it is always so great to see more ideas come from the team and be able to experience their universe first hand.

I spend a long time at Muuto stand where I experienced first hand some of my favorites from the new designs :  The Outline chair by Anderssen & Voll , the new Ripple throw by Margrethe Odgaard and the beautiful new Workshop chair by Cecilie Manz (all news can be found here ). A seen above in an office styling setting, the Ambit lamps in new dusty blue color, the beautiful Fiber side chairs, and the Folded shelves on the wall in the background in olive color. Below something that has been on my wishlist, the Compile shelf system in grey (combination 2).
At Skagerak the new Hven series designed by Swedish Anton Björsing were the center of attention and rightfully so. The armchairs and tables are designed to make you invite your family and friends over a little more often. Build with high comfort, a light and simple expression and from FSC-certified wood, Hven is a long-term minded series with regard to aesthetics, functionality and environment.

Last but not least at the press brunch at Gubi, we were treated with some of this seasons exciting news. most notable the new upholsteries for the Beetle Dining chairs (as seen above) and the new Pedrera  Ana Pendant Lamp Black, created as a tribute by Ruiz Millet to the designer of the original Pedrera lamps (as seen below).

SFF Stockholm 2017 : Part 1

Today I will be sharing some of the news from Stockholm’s Furniture and Light fair I attended a few days ago. I had my camera out the whole time trying to get opportunities for photos in the crowded booths and while I didn’t think I would be lucky, when editing I realized I had more photos that I though so I will be splitting this post in two parts. I hope you enjoy my tour around my favorite stands in SFF17 !

I have already featured some of Menu’s news on the blog (check here for the press photos), so I was very much looking forward to seeing some of the much anticipated designs up and close, and I was not disappointed. The Tailor sofa (above) that is meant to be seen by all sides as per designers Rui Alves words was a delight see, while in the same photo we can catch a glimpse of the new Afteroom bar stool by talented young Taiwanese duo Hung-Ming Chen and Chen-Yen Wei and hanging above them the Cast Pendant which embodies Menu’s philosophy of soft minimalism. A detail on the far left of the same photo above reveals a new color/material  for the Pepe Marble Mirror designed by Studio Pepe and a closer look at the delicate Afteroom bar stool. On the last photo of the Menu highlights the much photographed front of the booth featured the September sofa designed by Theresa Arns.

I was delighted to see a fresh design for the booth of Ferm Living as well (photo above taken in the Fair). Usually very visually crowded with news, this years design of the room allowed for more negative space which I felt brought an elegance that suited Ferm Living style. Among the news (photo below) we can see the Punctual shelf in new Rose color, while on the shelf the Buckle Jars in all 3 color variations, the new Medley Knit Cushions, Plant Box in Ochre and a glimpse of the Herman Chairs in the front of the photo (all news can be found at News – Living SS17).

I could not help but stop at String and take some photos. This year the stand ,dressed in white, presents a contrast from their colorful press photos (as featured a few weeks ago on the blog), which I feel accentuated even more the lines and minimalism of the classic design. New shelves and new additions where incorporated neatly into the elegant space with the new wardrobe additions displayed beautifully on one of the walls (photo below).

Fritz Hansen was always so crowded, a second visit was required in order to capture some of the highlights. As seen above the office of Fritz was re imagined and displayed as a cozy space with mood boards providing plenty of inspiration and an insight of Fritz Hansens world of design. Below Arne Jacobsens series 7 chairs gets a new colorful look. Fritz Hansen’s Choice 2017 is a new interpretation of Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Series 7 that imbues the functional, minimalist Danish design form with the soft, feminine colours of Japanese cherry blossoms. The shell of this special 2017 edition is available in two colours – a deep-red merlot and a serene, pastel nude – developed and perfected over time in the Fritz Hansen design studio to match the new rose gold coating on the four-legged base.

Last but not least for todays blogpost a detail at the Vitra stand that caught my eye. I love seeing moodboards and a behind the scenes look and this photo captured that feeling perfectly.

Looking forward to reveal part two tomorrow with more news and highlights!

Intimate Valentines Day

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos. All opinions are my own.

It is Valentines day today and even though I am not a super fan of the holiday, I am always up for a any excuse to make brownies and take out the new tableware and cutlery. While at the Oslo Design Fair I stopped by Bloomingville’s exhibition where immediately  a set of handmade ceramic tableware caught my eye. The line Sandrine (the plates and cups I used)  can be found at Ellos Home (among with an array of other Bloomingville designs) as well as the black cutlery I combined them with. I would have loved to get some anemones for the day (or any day as they are among my favorite flowers), however I did not find any so that tradition for the day will remain unfulfilled. There is plenty of chocolate though, a homemade brownie (I spoiled the surprise with the recipe in this post a few weeks ago ) and delicious chocolates from Chokladefabriken that I brought from Stockholm. We chose to spend the morning in bed, enjoying a cup of coffee after we prepared the brownies with the ice cream with chocolate upon chocolate. If anything, the day calls for it ;)

His…
And hers…

A good idea if you prefer enjoying a more toned down version of the day, is of course to light a candle or burn some incense. I bought a candle just for today while in Stockholm, and I avoided burning it until this very morning. This way it feels a little bit more special even if it something that can be done at any day of the week. I also bought the most beautiful brass incense holder , as seen below, but burning both can be overwhelming, so best to chose either one or the other.

Stockholm : Mornington My Home away from home

Tomorrow I will be finishing up the post with photos of the news I shot while at the Furniture and Light fair, but today I thought it would be a good idea to show off the beautiful premises of Mornington hotel in Stockholm, my home away from home for the week.
Located in Nybrogatan 53 , close to the metro station and just a few minutes away from the best restaurants, cafes and shopping in the city, Mornington offers not only great location and service but also multiple newly renovated rooms to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Do ask for a room at the second floor for a similar look to mine, the stuff will do their best to accommodate you! This is my second time in Stockholm and the second time I have stayed at Mornington ( you can find the previous post  here). This time around due to visiting in winter, my photos turned up a little moodier, a little darker, but at the same time I think they convey my mood better.
Due to being extremely busy while in Stockholm, I did not spend as much time as I would have liked to in the room, however I still found time to enjoy a warm coffee by the window while answering emails early in the morning before going down for breakfast. It is these moments that I feel make for a good start of a day, no matter how busy!

Lotta Agatons Trends Exhibition at Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair

Contrasts is the underlying theme for and name of the Trend Exhibition 2017/18, which has been created by stylist Lotta Agaton, one of the main attractions in Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair this year. The exhibition offers contrasts in materials and furniture as well as surprising combinations. The spaces are interconnected so visitors can see from one to another and vice versa.

The exhibition space is my reflection of our times. I wanted to create a space with no set rules and to inspire people to play more with what they already have and use new materials, colours and textures. I wanted to create a space where contrasting materials and colours met in unexpected ways and show that a room and its furnitures could behave in a new way just by changing the wall colour. I have chosen furnitures and products that all have a clean lines and timeless design. When lined up together all the furnitures would fit together but by placing them in rooms with different wall colors and change the fabric, every room and piece of furniture got a totally different mood. : Lotta Agaton

From an all pink office , to a green bathroom, the perfect beige kitchen, the blue dining room and the red terra cotta bedroom, Lotta Agaton defines a trend that is here to stay for a while, the one that comfort and safety combine perfectly with style and high end furnishings. Darker, warmer and more embracing, one by one the rooms in the makeshift house invite us to stay for a while.

My photos depict a close up look due to only bringing with me only one 85mm prime lens for my camera. For wider perspective beautiful imagery, visit my talented colleagues Elisabeth Heier blog post , with whom I traveled with to the fair.

IKEA Stockholm SS17

Today I am sharing the beautiful new Stockholm line from IKEA Spring Summer 2017 news from the press launch I attended 2 days ago. I shared some insights on my instagram stories where I also did live broadcasts of the designers that were present and being interviewed, while today I am happy to share some of the official photos I received in the press package. There were two new lines presented, however, my favorite pieces all came from the Stockholm line. A new couch in 3 colors, a table and floor chrome lamp and a wooden tray by Ola Wihlborg,  a rattan/ash sofaboard and cabinet in the same material by Nike Karlsson, plus new beautiful fabrics from Hanna Dalrot. The collection will be available from 7th of April in all IKEA stores.

Inspired by nature, the new Stockholm line wishes to become a new favorite and help create a cozy and harmonious home that brings well-being to people, saysViveca Olsson Creative leader.

Designer Nike Karlsson says : We make many chairs before we come to the final version. You make a prototype , change it here and there, move things a little. Thats how you move forward in the design process.

I wanted to make a really big sofa, that could carry the whole family at the same time, notes designer Ola Wihlborg.

In flight essentials and tips on packing

Today I am packing for my trip to Stockholm for the Furniture and Light fair, thankfully the flight is really short (less than an hour) so I am packing a light in-flight bag. My first tip is to pack a backback rather than a handbag , a tote or even a crossbody bag. Now that most travel documents are in electronic form ( early check in, automatic bag drop, e-boarding pass) all I really need is my phone, so I keep that in my pocket and everything else can be carried in the backpack that is far more comfortable to carry than a bag. I usually carry a lot of heavy things in my in flight bag , inevitably my shoulder would always end up hurting so the backpack is the perfect solution for me.

When it comes to whats in my bag this time, below there is a full list with everything I carry, although this is the lite version since the flight is so quick!

:: Leather Passport holder | This little wallet fits my passport , a printed boarding pass (just in case my phone fails), some cards and usually any receipts I might acquire during the day.
:: A Water bottle | Flights are notorious for dehydrating the body , water is essential. While security will not allow you to go through check in with a full bottle, I usually  drink the water I packed then fill it again from a drinking fountain that can be found in almost all airports.
:: Headphones | Airports are also infamous for the cacophony caused by crowds, announcements, commotion from the planes etc, a good pair of noise cancelling headphones saves me the headache plus allows me to relax more in such a crowded place (and usually work when I have extra waiting hours). The ones I use are the Bose Quiet Comfort 35, they are wireless so I don’t need to worry about cables while their sound and noise cancellation is the best I have tried. Very comfortable ear cushions as well, I can, and I do, use them for hours.
:: A big scarf | I usually get cold in flights (and at the movies), a big scarf is easy to carry and it can double as a mini blanket.
:: Hand Sanitizer | I don’t really care about germs as much but I am quite clumsy, so I mostly use a hand sanitizer to wash my hands here and then especially since I am prone to spill some coffee or otherwise. This one from Aesop also smells really good.
:: Hydrating hand Cream | My beloved Byredo Bal D’Afrique goes everywhere with me, no exceptions.
:: Power bank | While the flight is short, the rest of my trip is not, so a power bank to charge my phone on the go is a must. I use this model that charges my phone up to 6 times before it needs to be recharged itself. It can also charge two to 3 devices at once so you can share with a friend or charge your camera or iPad or even the wireless headphones if they need it (or any other device) simultaneously.
:: Small Cosmetic pouch | Not pictured in this post however small touch ups on make up (even though I do not wear a lot during the day) are necessary after a flight, plus it also carries the sanitizer and the hand cream and small bits and bobs I use otherwise, lip balm, hair clips, paracetamol etc.

As for my last tip, if you shop at Aesop as much as I do then ask for an extra small bag next time at the cashier. I fit my headphones/camera or anything I need to have in my backpack/bag and not just for travelling. They compartmentalize the space in the bag, while they keep all my valuables scratch free without taking too much space on their own.

The above is all I really need for a short trip however, when I know I will be spending more time at the airport or in flight my backpack will also include : My MacBook (I cannot live without a computer), my iPad and/or my Kindle Paperwhite so I can read or watch movies, extra soft long socks, a camera, gloves and a beanie and finally my sunglasses.

Nytorgsgatan 19A for sale

It wasnt long ago photos from Lotta Agatons new apartment surfaced and eveyone savored on the complete dark look that swept the interior blogs with the daring look and the beautiful details. Now so soon again the apartment is back up on sale for a new lucky owner. It has come to my attention that there has been some controversy over this sale, possibly caused by the fact that it wasn’t not so long ago that Lotta moved in (although for the record it must have been at least a year or even more ago). Very few people can know the details on why this apartment is on sale, maybe the family needed more space, maybe they needed less space, maybe the location is not as comfortable as it was imagined to be, maybe they just needed a change or even maybe there was profit to be made out of selling it now. Regardless, the negative comments are very concerning, I do not find necessary for anyone to speculate and more so, voice those thoughts in an inappropriate manner. In many ways, this has turned to be a matter of gossip for some people, a very sad development. The plan is to also move myself sometime in the next few months, and I am already under a lot of stress about all the procedures, selling the house, moving, starting over. Of course it is going to be ok at the end, and hopefully I will look back at this time fondly, however I would find negative comments, gossip and speculations alike, very daunting , and they would add to my stress making it even more difficult for me. For now I will try to alleviate some stress by looking at the photos of Lottas beautiful apartment, take some inspiration for it, and plan for my future place as well!

3 ingredient Nuggati Brownies

Some testing for a surprise dessert I am planning to make for Valentines day. I came across a recipe for 3 ingredient brownies that seemed perfect for the occasion , but also for more than just this instance. I am not very good at baking (or cooking) and having a go to, easy to make , bulletproof dessert can be a lifesaver. The recipe itself is famous for using only 3 ingredients and it requires no special skills. If you want to replicate this you will need :

400gr of Nugatti (or any chocolate-hazelnut spread) – 2 whole eggs – 70gr of flour (optionally add at the end half a cup of chopped pecans and a pinch of sea salt)Add all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Pour into a 18cm round pan and bake for 30min at 175C.

Simple and easy in its execution, it requires minimal effort and it tastes incredible. I combined it with a dollop of good quality vanilla ice cream ( I tried to make a teardrop by scooping it with a heated tablespoon, video tutorial here ) because I prefer to have something on the side to balance the chocolate flavor. Do try it!

Signs of Spring in the Living room

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos. All opinions are my own.
Even though spring is far away for now, especially in Scandinavia, I think after Christmas holidays are over, we all long for warmer weather and the first signs of green. A good tip for those that cannot wait is to start introducing more greens in the house, add textiles that remind of Spring in light colors, new cushion covers or even a light colored carpet. In collaboration with Ellos Home I styled my living room with some fabrics and some greens to serve as an example for anyone that wants to bring some Spring feelings in their house, do read on for more details and tips!

One of the first things I did was to get some extra linen pillowcases. My sofa is getting really old now and I don’t like how it looks, but with new pillowcases and a throw or two it looks as good as new! I decided to also add a carpet underneath so it can provide with some definition of the area. I really like how it softens the dark color of the floorboards, but also it makes for a great place to sit on since it is so soft and cozy.
When it comes to greens, my tip would be to choose plants that look great on the floor. My Monstera Deliciosa is big enough now to stand on its own but I decided to put some magazines under to give it a little bit more visibility. A simple Pilea Peperomioides is all I need for my table (which is filled with magazines and books), but if I had the luxury of fresh flowers I think a vase would also look quite nice and fit perfectly.

All products I used can be found at Ellos Home :

The softest throw from Himla in Gråblå color –  Pledd Hannelin i vasket hellin 130×170 cm
Linen pillows from Himla various colors –  Pute Hannelin 50×50
Fluffy cozy carpet from Ellos Home –  Ryeteppe Tanger 160×230 cm

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
I am also thinking some new curtains could complete the look, if you are missing curtains as well Ellos offers 25% off to all of their curtain selection!

Oslo Travel Diaries

While in Oslo this week, I made myself comfortable at the Bloggers Inn room in the Scandic Solli hotel near the Royal Palace. What is interesting about this Scandic is that this room is what we could only call : blogger friendly. The spacious room (separate living room and bathtub in the bathroom) is equipped with iPad, tripod and self-timer cameras for more flexible shooting and wireless speakers. Any blogger can apply for a free stay (for up to two days), enough time to enjoy a weekend in the city. I took some photos while there, my interpretation is a little bit more moody when it comes to the colors and perspective, I hope you enjoy some of my favorite corners of the hotel as shown below.

Back from Oslo

I came back from Oslo yesterday night, however I just started unpacking my suitcase. I did a little bit of shopping (stopped by Byredo, Acne, COS and Aesop), but I was also lucky to receive in the form of press samples some early copies of books I wanted to purchase as soon as they were available (courtesy of New Mags , with my thanks).

The first book, by Katariina Lamberg , Sacré Cœur, is a compact travel guide to Paris ( a sneak peek can be seen below). It includes maps, locations for restaurants, cafes, even ice cream shop locations, all neatly arranged in an A5 book that can fit in my bag. A must have next time I visit Paris , which will hopefully not be too long!

The Green Home Book does not need many introductions, but with a little more than 4 weeks before launch I am happy I get to peruse through it and finally have in one place all the care tips for all my plants. While it acts as a guide, it is so beautifully made, the photos and content so well curated, that it fits any coffee table easily as well.

All books can be found at New Mags in Norway and various other sellers around Scandinavia and the rest of the world.

Grey Apartment with beautiful details

While at the Oslo design fair today, I captured a lot of photos which I couldnt wait to share, however luck had it that my SD card seems to have been damaged and I try as I did, I couldnt save any of them. So instead I decided to share a beautiful grey apartment I found a few days ago on Entrance Mäkleri ( you can click on the link for more photos as well). I especially like the entryway and the simple kitchen, definitely one to be inspired from for those that live in small apartments!

Woods Agentur Showroom – SS17 Styling

Today, my first day in Oslo, first thing on my schedule was to visit my beloved Woods Agentur showroom ( the talented ladies also behind one of my favorite online stores Mitthjem ) where I got to see news first hand from the collections of Serax, Frederik Bagger, Vibeke Scott – Langkilde & søn -Valerie Objects and Ole Gjerløv Knutsen / Skovshoved Møbelfabrik. From new tableware to lamps, to new fabrics and new materials (check below the bamboo bowls stacked neatly on the windowsill), there was something for everyone in todays fresh styling. I tried to capture some of the mood with a few photos, I hope you enjoy ! You can see the Summer styling in August here if you want to see the difference (it is really the same showroom) , it is really amazing what these ladies can do when it comes to styling!

Terracota pots in the kitchen

Today Stilleben is opening their second Copenhagen store No22 at Frederiksborggade 22. I wish I could attend and usually I travel a lot to Copenhagen so I try to fit such events in my calendar, but the next few weeks are going to be very busy with travelling already for design fairs and press launches in Oslo and Stockholm. However, I will definitely be stopping by next time I am around, Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft that are behind the Stilleben concept stores are also the designers of the Edge pot for Skagerak as seen in my kitchen in this post. I really love the design and the natural terracotta colors, and while the pots come with their own drain system making them stand out from other pots, I also use them as storage vases for my kitchen utensils. Tip of the day!

Linen Love

Since I renovated the bedroom in the house ( you can see before and after photos here) , I find myself spending more and more time there. The newly painted white floors, the soft grey walls, the oak furniture, it is all calling out to me. I had my hesitations about painting the rest of the floor downstairs but after 2 months have passed, I see the floor paint is holding out really well, so I will go ahead and finish up the whole floor. Regardless of the color of the floors however, if I have any tips for a quick bedroom makeover is to invest in new good quality linens. From sheets and pillowcases to linen throws, I have not looked back since I changed all my old sheets and bedwear. I find they add so much to the feel of the room, and they are so comfortable and soft to sleep in as well. As you can see today it is cleaning day downstairs which means fresh linens and delicious fresh throws!

&tradition SS17

New colors, new materials and new shapes for some of the beloved classics are part of the Spring Summer 17 news for one of my favorite brands, And Tradition.
I am most excited for the Catch Lounge Chair designed by Jaime Hayon ,but also for the new seat cover colors and tube legs on the classic Catch Chair. I have had my eye on the Catch chair for my office, I am glad I have even more choices now with the new additions!

Speaking of updated materials and colors, the Copenhagen Pendant by Space Copenhagen now also comes in matt opal glass and brass detailing. I have always found a quiet elegance in the original version and I find the updated design just as beautiful.

I just recently bought a full set of In between chairs for my dining room in ash, so I am excited to see the launch of the In between  Bar Stool. I would love to see a steel or brass rod as support for the feet however instead of wood. I think it would elevate the design even more plus give the bar stool more longevity as the wood tends to chip in that area with time.

Amazing Appartment in Stockholm

Stunning photos of a small apartment in Stockholm have me looking forward to moving to the city even more than ever. I am in love with old century apartment buildings, big windows and old wooden floors. While this apartment only has one bedroom, I would still move in a heartbeat. Even though there are only two main rooms, they are very spacious, while the kitchen is situated in a separate room which is a huge plus in my book. Lofts became the dream space to live in a few decades ago, and they are still viewed as such by many, but as far as I am concerned I have always appreciated separate spaces in the house that I live in. One thing I know for sure, if I am to rent an apartment one of my main priorities will definitely be big beautiful windows with deep windowsills and hopefully tall ceilings. Fingers crossed!

Tip for a Quick Bathroom Makeover

Right before Christmas I bought an amaryllis that took much longer to bloom than usual, in fact it just bloomed a couple of days ago. I love this flower even though it does not last long, it is very elegant and adds personality to any area in the house without taking too much space. Here I moved the amaryllis in the bathroom and it immediately lifted up the mood in the room. I recommend using seasonal flowers for a different mood throughout the year , place them either on the window shill or near the sink, add a favorite candle and maybe some new waffle linen towels (I recently got these myself) and you have a quick bathroom upgrade in under 5 minutes. Tip for the weekend!

Spring Summer 2017 Menu News

Today I am sharing some of my favorite news from Menu SS17. Some of the designs are instantly elevated in the category of classics, with their timeless design and distinct materials.
The versatile, multiple-use Copenhagen Tray Table ( as seen above) combines the functionality of a traditional tray with the elegance of a side table. Designed by Norm Architects for use in the home, office, even the garden, the table is portable and slender enough to slot stylishly into any corner of the room.

The Afteroom Counter, Cafe and Bar Table (as seen below) is yet a supplement to the beloved Afteroom Chair, constituting the same concept – a tribute to Bauhaus and functionalism – reducing the amount of material to a minimum and enhancing the aesthetic appearance to a maximum.

There are two sofas that caught my attention from the SS17 lineup, the Godot sofa ( above) that is displayed along with the new Plinth Podium (coming in 3 sizes, can be used as a table or a pedetral) and the elegant Tailor sofa (below).

Designer Rui Alves says : “I wanted to show all of it, the structure, the beautiful oak wood. Nothing should be hidden, as is normally done in sofa design. The sofa is meant to be seen from all sides.”

It is especially beautiful from behind. The sofa has a light and airy appearance, the structured upholstered part supported by the wooden frame for a comfortable and practical sofa for everyday use.

Another favorite of mine that jumped on the top of my wishlist is the Meet bench (above and below). Simple and beautiful, I can see it in many places around my own home, from the bedroom to the entryway.

The Echasse Vase combines the classic elegance of a traditional glass vase with a playful, light expression. The word échasse is French for stilts – and this round-bottomed vase is anchored to the table by four slender legs that resemble stilts. The vase takes inspiration from test tubes in laboratories, and like the original the Echasse has a classic drop-like shape, constructed from coloured glass that gives the vase a unique expression. Echasse is available in a large version, which stands on the floor.
Below last but not least, a new small lamp that caught my eye, the Cast Pendant. An honest light, Cast Pendant embodies Menu’s philosophy of soft minimalism. Hang one lamp on its own or cluster several into an installation. The lamp is available in three variations, and a splitter allows for variety of configurations.

String News

For the next few days I will be sharing some of the news that land on my inbox from my favorite brands. I am starting today with some spectacular press photos of String Furniture, by stylist Lotta Agaton , photographer Marcus Lawett and art director Magnus Ingerstedt. The imagery conveys perfectly what String is all about and how it can fit seemingly as much in an industrial space as in any home or apartment.

I particularly like the new perforated metal solutions for the kitchen or storage areas. Stainless steel will never be out of fashion in my opinion, especially not when combined with other raw materials.

Last but not least,I couldn’t help but notice the new additions for home use, such as perforated plates for shoes, solutions for a walk in closet or cloth hunger in the entry, while some classic solutions in white and oak show why String pieces have become timeless and a great addition to any space.

Home Office

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
I have had the same office space for a long time now, and I feel it needs a change. First thing that comes to mind of course is a new desk and a new chair. I will be making a wishlist soon that will include some of my choices, however don’t be surprised if I end up changing the room altogether as well. I moved the office upstairs so that it would have more light, but I miss a more private space to work, so I might move it back downstairs now that I am renovating the second bedroom. With the right paint on the wall and the right ambient light, even a small room with a small window can look great, and with winter still around I think a cozy office space will not be a bad idea at all. In the meantime I am gathering ideas on my Pinterest board Home – Office. You are welcome to stop by and see where I get my inspiration from.

The small things

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima

It is the small gestures that can make any day start well, and today I woke up to a small surprise in my mailbox ( I usually wear my robe and then barefoot I dare the cold and the snow to check my mailbox for some reason). Studio Esinam surprised me with their yearly planner in beige in A5 size, which will have a permanent spot on my office desk from now on. I had already purchased my 2017 planner ( in A6 size) that is already quite full if you can believe it, so this new addition will be perfect for anything extra and quick notes while I can keep the smaller one in my bag on the go. Since January and February are months that see a lot of travel ( due to press events and fairs) it is always good to prepare early!

Below some impromptu snaps from my instagram story I shared right after I received the package, as taken from my phone.

New Mirror in the Bedroom

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Skagerak. All opinions are my own.

Right before Christmas I finally got an item that had been on my wishlist ( as seen on November’s Wishlist) for a while now, the Georg Mirror by Skagerak. There are two colors to chose from, one in black and one where the oak wood can be seen in its natural hue, I decided on the latter.

Designed by Chris L. Halstrøm , the Georg collection ( check all the line here ) is inspired by the furniture that we often look upon as secondary in our homes. The expression and functionality of the different products in the collection are made to fit in many different situations. And it is true, I feel, that it is the small details that are so very important in the final look of any space, especially when we chose a minimalistic route. My bedroom has very few furniture by choice (as can be seen here from all angles on the Before and After post) so the Georg mirror blends in perfectly and defines the wall that is resting on. With the addition of a poster on the floor next to it, it is the perfect spot to get ready in the morning, or have a last look before leaving the house.

Travel Diaries London : Royal Exchange Grind

Thinking about taking a short weekend trip to London soon while it is still cold, if only just to enjoy myself a warm cup of espresso in the Royal Exchange Grid cafe and bar. Part of the Grind &Co network of cafe bars ( Covent Garden Grind being one more of my favorites) , Royal Exchange is the newest in line, created with contemporary minimalism in mind. Century-old floorboards were restored underfoot, while the same herringbone pattern in the marble wall tiles was employed in order to define the space even more.

Thoughts on the design process : “In developing the interior for this project, we wanted it to feel more like a bar than a cafe. The materials and colour palette extend this idea of refined, simple elegance, perfect for the area’s affluent clientele” by Biasol Design Studio.

The timeless material palette reflects the project’s context – located in a bustling commercial district alongside high-end boutiques, the cafe attracts a sophisticated clientele. A sleek Carrara marble counter is paired with matt brass foot rails and hooks. Behind the bar, bespoke display shelving continues the brass theme, with bedknob-topped rods capturing a certain nostalgia. The service space was designed to enable quick takeaway orders, while still offering comfortable dine-in options for those with a little time to linger. The lightness of the interior fitout is also manifested in the furniture choices. White three-legged stools with peacock-green upholstery from Danish design house Menu line-up along the marble bench that gazes out the windows onto the busy London street scene.

2017 Goals

Happy 2017 everyone! I didn’t intend on making a blogpost today, but as I sat down to write on my new 2017 planner ( I should mention that I have been using it for at least 2 months now due to noting down scheduled tasks for the new year), I thought about some of my top new years resolutions and how instead I would prefer to have goals. Goals are something I can work to achieve, something that is more of a journey towards what I want rather than an abstract idea that is a resolution. So many times I am trying to get from 0 to 100 and I set myself an unreasonably small amount of time to achieve this, so I am hoping that setting up goals instead will also let me enjoy the journey there too as opposed as focusing only in the final destination.

Some of the goals I would like to achieve this year include big and small things, some of the bigger ones are the following.

:: A bad habit I am going to break |  Stress Eating
:: A new skill I am going to learn |  Skiing
:: I am going to do better at |  Time management
:: A place I’d like to visit |  Reykjavik , Iceland

I have made a much bigger list than this with smaller things I would like to happen, and this time I am going to focus on starting on the things I want to achieve, even if I am halfway into my goal it still counts as a tick on my list.

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima

I hope this year is a happy and productive year, it does not have to be great but I will feel amazing if at the end of it I can look back and know I achieved most of my goals.

Pinterest Lately – What I’ve been obsessing about during the holidays

Images from Pinterest//Collage by Only Deco Love

It has been very serene and quaint during these holidays and on my downtime I have been decompressing with searching on Pinterest for inspiration on my latest obsessions. From woolly clothes ( winter is going to be around for quite a few more months ),to ideas for a shorter haircut and maybe color for my hair? I have had the same haircut and color for so many years now, I am ready for a change. I think starting off with a shoulder length long bob will be a good idea, and possibly go even further after a few weeks. New running shoes, concrete stairs (a project I am working on lately), Frama hand soaps and lotions(I am obsessing about all sorts of bathroom necessities) and of course ceramics for the house. In a nutshell everything that has been on my mind the last few days. It might seem random but in my head all this just makes sense. However, the colors of the collage are not random, they are all my favorite colors as of late.

Christmas Eve

The last presents arrived yesterday, and to my delight they came already beautifully wrapped in white paper and white ribbon. Minimal and understated, much like the rest of my Christmas decorations this year. I have just a few minutes before I wrap the last presents , then I am off for Christmas dinner, then cake and finally unwrapping the presents! I will be taking a small break until New Years from the blog, however you will always find me on Instagram, especially spontaneous Instagram stories! God Jul and Merry Christmas to everyone!

Nordmann fir : Christmas tree tradition that will grow with you

It is almost Christmas (how did the year fly by so quickly?) and our tree is ready in its little corner. I decorated a cedar tree for early  Christmas ( more photos here ) , and I really liked the result for an understated holiday decoration, however we also bought a Nordmann fir of about 1m tall as our main Christmas tree. The idea is that it will grow with us as years go by and be our tree for all future holidays. I think it is a great idea for couples that are looking at creating their own Christmas traditions, and for us this is the one!  After all it is used to cold and snow so after New years we can leave it outside to decorate our veranda until next time. In order to make it look a little taller we put it on top of the low cupboards in the corner and surrounded it with gifts and minimal christmas decorations. A handmade felt Santa, some walnuts and a brass wreath all create a nice festive but also minimal mood, perfect for this year. Our tree ornaments are porcelain balls and bells in white, from Lyngby Porcelain, brass and porcelain ornaments from Stelton and some glass balls I found at Illums Bolighus (I cannot remember the producer but I am sure if you stop by Illums you can find them still!). With this and that we are almost ready for another Christmas Eve tomorrow, I wish Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!

This Weekend in Pictures

December has been a quiet month by choice, most of the days I have spend at home and the town around. January and February are going to be very busy months due to press launches and fairs and I do not expect to spend so much time at home. There is much to be appreciated when it comes to quiet comfort and I have tried to make the most of it while I still can. Since this weekend was the last advent of December I got some extra unexpected gifts in my mail, some hand soaps from TangenTGC, a gift much appreciated since I was running out of my favorite Aesop and was wondering if I could get a new one by mail before the holidays. The Georg mirror by Skagerak also arrived (it has been on my Novembers wishlist and I was right, it does fit my newly renovated bedroom like a glove). It is the perfect spot to get ready in the morning and this is usually how I have been starting my day as of late.

Speaking of the new bedroom, in a rare sighting, Milo has also been enjoying it immensely. Maybe it is the new soft linen throw ( the Crush Oro linen throw by Hale Merchantile Co) because she is always on top of it. It comes in many beautiful colors and although it was difficult to chose, the Oro hue won me over.

First attempts on making an avocado flower. I think I should have cut it in even thinner slices because it was very hard to wrap around itself. Still delicious no matter the shape, and if you want to try it out here is an easy very good explanation video.

Wrapping up the weekend, when it comes to the weather it was a beautiful one. We woke up both days in a completely foggy town,  so much so that it looked quite airy since it was hard to see even 15 meters ahead. Long walks in the mist are very unappreciated, so we made the most of it while coming back to a warm home.

Libratone Zipp Copenhagen Mini : Luxurious Sound

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Libratone. All opinions are my own.
Christmas is just around the corner and some preparations are in order. Baking some traditional cakes, preparing gløgg, the house smells like gingerbread cookies, anise and orange zest. Christmas tunes are as necessary in the house as cinnamon or cloves to holiday dishes, and I have been meticulously adding new ones to my Christmas spotify list ever since last year (the list can be found here).  I have been carrying around my Libratone Zipp Copenhagen Mini everywhere I go in the house, it is so easy to stream music from Spotify it is practically playing holiday tunes all day long while I am busy with Christmas preparations. While I move around the house,I usually end up carrying it around with me, from the bedroom to the kitchen and back at the office, it is always a great companion for music lovers , even more when the season is calling for all day music binging.

Have you noticed I have changed its cover from grey to blue? ( You can see it in grey along with the bigger version of the Libratone Zipp Copenhagen and a review in this post ).  It took me just a few seconds to zipp the grey one out and zipp the new one in and it really feels like it is a new speaker. I liked the cool wool blue cover better in this case since the Zipp Mini mostly spends its time in the bedroom, and since my newly renovated bedroom now is so grey it gives the space more personality when it comes to its details.

While in the bedroom I usually listen to music when I am getting ready, I almost always end up carrying it with me when I want to work by my office desk. It wirelessly connects however you want: WiFi (longest range and highest music quality), Bluetooth (stream from any device, anywhere), Airplay (iOS) etc so it is easy to play music from your phone but just as easy to pair it with your laptop. No excuse to work silently :)
In the bedroom, at the office, in the kitchen or in the living room, the Libratone Zipp Copenhagen Mini makes for a great companion if you enjoy music as much as do.
Christmas Gift tip :  If you are still indecisive when it comes to a christmas gift for a loved one or for yourself, the Zipp mini is a great idea and you can still order it in time for Christmas as late as the 22nd of December ;)

My Bedroom : Before and After and a giveaway!

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos. All opinions are my own.

( In collaboration with Ellos and to celebrate finishing the renovation of the bedroom I am hosting a giveaway for 3000NOK each with two winners. More information and how to enter at the end of this post).

This week I finally put the finishing touches to the bedroom and today I am happy to share the final result along with some before and after pictures. Here is what the bedroom looked like before I started the renovation, dark laminated floors, brown walls, a questionable choice of brown wallpaper and brown furniture. I originally only painted the walls about a year ago but I wasn’t very happy with the result so I decided to commit to giving it a proper facelift this time around. With the help of a lot of paint, some tools and some choice selections from Ellos I created a look that is very representative of my style. Read on below to find out how I changed the look of the bedroom with minimal effort and on a good budget!

First of all I build a fake shelf under the window ( before photo of the same view as the photo above ) using wooden panels that I later painted on the exact color as the wall so the box would blend in and become part of the room. The box serves both as a shelf but also as a headrest for the bed that was moved under the window. I threw all the old furniture (expect for the bed that was new) and painted the walls a soft grey and the floors along with the lists I painted white. ( The painting process took about a week since I have to wait between layers of paint to dry. There are many floor paints out now that do not require sanding the floors first, so I recommend painting the floors heartily).

After the floor was dry I moved in the bed. As can be seen here the bed was also brown so I decided to cover it completely with linens for a softer look. I used a simple white linen bed gown  and an extra linen sheet from Ellos to drape over the bed ( the bed is in layers so I decided it was best to also dress it in layers for a more uniform look). In this way there is no need to change the bed to change its look, and when I want a different color combination than white I can simply change the bed gown. Next step was to hang a white linen canopy above the bed ( the exact same one I used can be found here). After the canopy was set, I dressed the bed with new linens ( I used these ones in a beautiful beige color), brought in a chair and a marble side table , and added some details in the form of plants, books and a mirror to complete the look. I always have an extra blanket on the bed during winter, this linen one can also double as a carpet ( you can see how I used it in this post in my living room)!

Tip :: I also painted the pots in the same color of the wall so they would blend in! Try it not only when you want to make your pots blend seamlessly with the room like I did but also if you are just tired of their color!

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
Do you want to also change a room in your house like I did? Just leave a comment below with your email address and you can win a 3000 NOK gift card for Ellos ! There will be two winners for 3000NOK each and the giftcard can be used for the whole store. If you want an extra chance to enter, head over to my instagram and leave a comment there as well! Mornington Hotel in Stockholm

During my last stay in Stockholm a little while ago I had the pleasure of staying at the Mornington hotel in the heart of the city. Just a stone throw away from the metro station and a few minutes walking distance from an array of shops and restaurants, with its beautiful mellow style, brass, marble and its welcoming feeling, Mornington is a great place to stay while in Stockholm.
The hotel has a restaurant that is divided in different spaces with different design approaches. In the morning breakfast is served between the areas that stretch all the way to the lobby to enjoy your meal with a cup of coffee, read a newspaper or even pick a book from one of the shelves.
The lobby is equipped with large sitting areas, comfortable couches but also a corner with Macbooks that are available for anyone to use. By the windows, old style leather seats with brass small tables make for a perfect spot for a quick coffee while waiting for a friend.

I stayed in one of the newly renovated suites with a separate bedroom and a living room. The bathroom as well was separated in two with two different entrances which makes sharing the room very comfortable. Furnished with Gubi designs, And Tradition lamps , a full wall of String solution shelves and a carefully curated selection of antiques, the room was much comfortable as sleek with its design.

The bedroom itself was separated by double doors from the living room, however both spaces have direct access to the big balcony with a great view. A small desk in the bedroom served as the perfect spot for the mornings when I needed a little bit of time to send emails and catch up with my work.

If you decide to stay at Mornington while in Stockholm make sure to ask for a newly renovated room, the staff with do its best to accommodate you :)

Dream team work for H&M

Dream team Therese Sennerholt ( Art Direction ) , Lotta Agaton ( Styling ) and Pia Ulin ( Photography) came together to produce an amazing series of photographs for H&M and their home product line. I love the combination of prevalent Danish design with some of H&M home products, I find the result quite amazing both in terms of concept and presentation.  Here is a preview of what is to come this Spring!

Winter Sunday : A day in an interior bloggers life, sunday thoughts and conversations.

Some shots that describe how I spend a normal Sunday during winter (when I get to spend it at home). My day starts of course in bed, I will light a candle or my side table lamp until there is daylight coming from the windows ( not before 9 in the morning during December in Norway) and relax with a cup of tea while I go through Instagram or emails and arrange my week to come. It is also a good time to read up with magazines I haven’t gone through, check my favorite blogs and generally catch up with anything that I missed during the week. It is not possible to clear all my to do list but I have come to terms with that long time ago. Nightstand essentials as can be partially seen above : A bluetooth speaker for impromptu music ( the Libratone Copenhagen mini in blue wool cover). Stelton brass bonbonniere to house all small things such as headphones , charger etc, this one in large size. My very old ipad mini ( I don’t use it for anything else other than to watch a movie before sleeping ) can be seen standing up behind the sheets, while my new Kindle paperwhite is also always on my nightstand ( it is a joy to read from ).

After I get up, it is time for breakfast, maybe some coffee and possibly back at the living room table with my Macbook for a couple of  minutes to tidy off what was left from earlier. I will usually work from here a lot during the week as well however, so I have introduced more plants for better working conditions. Last week I took the time to paint some of my pots in a neutral grey color, they now house my pileas,my new avocado trees and also this years christmas tree, which contrary to general perception it is not the cedar tree as shown here. It was much too early to shoot for the Christmas tree so I prepared it silently until it is time to make a post about it. I painted the terracotta pot from IKEA that we planted it in the same grey color as the pots above, I have to say, I love this color more and more as time goes by. Favorite cup to drink from lately, the Broste Copenhagen from Nordic Sand line.

I packed a lot of presents this week (some I wrapped early for shoots as well) but today I will finish off whatever is left, it is a good thing last ones came by mail just yesterday morning. My trusty Hay brass scissors is an accessory I cannot live without.

Next up after taking care of the gifts is some organising and cleaning up in the form of arranging things. On my list a trip to Copenhagen and Oslo in January, so excited about my new leather travel wallet from Status Anxiety (as can be seen on my Novembers wishlist ). The size is perfect,  I love the tan color and when it comes to its utility, there are many pockets to hold all essentials. It will get a lot of use in 2017 and I cannot wait to see it form a patina.

Sundays are also for visiting friends or family, having a home cooked sunday dinner or finally going to a restaurant that has been on the wishlist for a while ( any day is great for that however, depending on how busy the week can get), going for a run or a hike (this is where I capture some of the winter wonderland shots as seen on my posts here or here ),  some exercising, a movie at the movie theater, online shopping.. I guess the possibilities are quite vast, at the end I just end up doing what I feel like doing while I focus also on relaxing and enjoying my Sunday. Regardless of what I have done during the day however, come night I can be found where it all started, in bed by the candlelight!

Christmas Gift ideas : Daniel Wellington Classic Black collection.

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Daniel Wellington. All opinions are my own.

A few weeks ago Daniel Wellington launched their new collection of their much anticipated new Classic Black watches and Classic Cuff line. If you want to read more about it (and see more photos of the colors and new accessories you can visit my post Getting ready with Daniel Wellington). The new look is very elegant and timeless, it makes for a great Christmas gift for a loved one especially when accompanied with the new cuffs. I have packaged 3 combinations already for my close family as gifts, some in silver and some in the classic rosegold variation, with different straps to fit each personality. Scroll down for more photos, some Christmas wrapping ideas for a small package and I am also glad to share a discount code that you can find at the end of this post if you want to order one for yourself or as a gift!

When it comes to wrapping presents this year I have completely embraced the Scandinavian way ( can see more photos in this post), so all my presents are wrapped in simple recycled brown paper, wrapped with ribbons, twine and decorated with leaves and branches. While for all the other presents I used branches of cotton and fresh eucalyptus, for the packages with the watches I decided to go with more classic Christmas decorations of some spruce and rose hips from our backyard, along with thin black ribbon and white/black twine. Classic Green Christmas decorations with black accents for the Classic black new watch line, it made perfect sense to me.

My favorite combination of strap for the new watch has to be the Classic Durham . The tan colored leather strap feels instantly like it belongs to its new owner due to its predisposition to get patinated very fast. I love the look that is created merely moments after it is worn for the first time and I cannot wait to see how it will look after a few months of wear.

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
As mentioned in the beginning of this post, I am happy to share a code with you towards any purchase of any watch or accessory from all the Daniel Wellington collection including the new Classic Black and Classic Cuff line. The Classic Black is so very special because the dial is black, I find it especially elegant and stylish, perfect for interior lovers.

Discount code love
Use “onlydecolove” for 15% off and free shipping worldwide until the 31rst of December.

Also a little tip, you can get Eurobonus flight points along with any purchase from the site ( for every watch I believe around 1000 points) which can be spend towards free flights and duty free goodies!

Scandinavian Christmas Gift Wrapping

When it comes to wrapping presents there are many ways to do it, I personally prefer the simplicity of the Scandinavian way so this years theme was very much based on that style. I used paper drop cloth (usually used for masking floors while painting), ribbons in various sizes ( mostly black, navy and white color), some string and name tags that matched the color of the paper, and for decoration I used some branches of cotton and fresh eucalyptus. I wanted the presents to also have a personal feel, so every one of them is wrapped and styled slightly different, so they are all unique.

I also wrapped a few of the smaller ones with linen napkins (mine came from Hale Merchantile & Co). This is a great way of wrapping a present in a very sustainable way for no extra waste, but also for something extra in the form of the napkin.
There are so many more unique ways to wrap the presents using the materials I used, I also just wrapped them with big ribbons, you can see more of the presents under my early Christmas tree in this post

Inspiration from IKEA

Livet Hemma (Life at home) is the IKEA inspirational blog, where various notable stylists and photographers regularly contribute posts, mostly including IKEA products, styled and photographed to reflect the Scandinavian style and way of life. New IKEA designs include updated materials, silhouettes and colors, all curated towards mirroring new trends in Scandinavian design. I regularly visit the blog for inspiration, today I am sharing some of my favorite photos as of late that make up for a full home tour, a home I would gladly move in today even. Below you can find inspiration for the office, the living room, the kitchen, the bathroom and the bedroom.

Styling tips for Early Christmas with Stelton

This year I started decorating for Christmas and wrapping my presents a little earlier than what is usual for Scandinavian countries yet I did not want the house to look too festive too early. I ended up buying a small cedar tree which was perfect for early decoration. Stelton’s Nordic ornaments  and  Tangle Christmas decorations made for perfect fit on the delicate looking tree that I chose to keep as simple as possible wrapping it in brown paper for a Scandinavian feel.
The Stelton Christmas line consists partly of the Nordic ornaments, designed by Nordentoft and Secher Kau , a hanging heart, angel and cone in minimal lines, made of brass and porcelain. The ornaments are very light as well, making it easy to hang on the trees willowy branches. The Christmas line also includes the Tangle decorations, designed by Halskov and Dalsgaard, hanging ornaments but also candleholders and vases. All shapes in the Nordic and Tangle carefully curated collection are redesigned classic Christmas silhouettes, angels, cones, hearts and stars, but with a contemporary twist.
My favorites from both lines are the brass angel from the Nordic ornaments and the Tangle star candle holder also in brass from the Tangle line. I paired them together for a simple windowsill decoration.

I chose to wrap the presents in the same brown paper as the sedertre, wrapping them with various ribbons and strings. I also added some moss in the cedars trees pot for a more natural feel. However I am thinking of adding some of the Stelton Nordic ornament line on the presents (instead of using branches) , this way whoever opens them will also get an ornament for next years Christmas. The ornaments can also be used as napkin holders or even just displayed on their own as I already demonstrated above, I am sure I will find more uses by the end of these holidays to share!

Libratone Zipp Copenhagen Edition

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Libratone. All opinions are my own.
Music has always been essential to me, for any activity. While working, while training, in the car, travelling, it is is a big part of my everyday life. Finding the right speakers or headphones is quite important, I am looking for a combination of great design, great sound and utility and I am happy to have found everything I was looking and more in the new Libratone Zipp Copenhagen speakers. The speakers come in two sizes, in beautiful Danish design featuring interchangeable wool covers (just zipp one out and zipp the new one in), aluminum top and bottom,  and a black leather carrying handle. The sound is robust ( 360 degrees play), they connect via Bluetooth or your wireless network at home (streaming has never been easier) and with 10 hours of play  time you can carry them around anywhere at home, so you can always have your favorite music with you. One of the advantages I found very useful, is the ability to connect any number of the Libratone Zipp Copenhagen  and Libratone Zipp Mini Copenhagen speakers together and create a soundspace, effectively setting your music free,  and enjoy it in every room, every space, every part of your life.
In other words, you get the freedom to place the speakers wherever you want and move them around in your home as you like. And due to the beautiful design and the fact that you change the cover of the speakers they can always be part of your interior at home. Both speakers make for a perfect Christmas present as well!

Everything mentioned above are things that make the Libratone Zipp Copenhagen speakers a great portable sound system, but I would also like to share my personal experience with them, as I have been using them for some time now.
Apart from the overall beautiful design and great sound, what I enjoy most is the freedom these speakers give me. I always keep one upstairs and one downstairs so they can be connected and I can still enjoy uninterrupted music when I move around. The sound is controlled from the touch pad on top, the controls are very intuitive, I literally feel I have all my music in my fingertips. A wonderful surprise feature lets you hash the sound for as long as you like by simply placing your hand on top of the speaker without having to interrupt what you are listening to while you need to momentarily focus somewhere else. In my personal experience, the touch pad is very responsive, and so far it has registered every tap with extreme ease.

I usually keep my Libratone Zipp Mini Copenhagen with me upstairs by my home office desk , although I will take it with me when I either move to the dining table where I work sometimes or when I sit by the couch in the living room. The dining room, living room and home office are all connected so I can also leave one Zipp Copenhagen in the middle of the area and all the space will be filled with music when I turn it on. Since the battery lasts for 10 hours I find I rarely charge it more than a few times per week, however when I need to the wire sits comfortably on the table held down by an aluminum anchor.

Whether you will be wrapping gifts, cooking in the kitchen, working on your laptop or any other activity at home this holidays, the Libratone Zipp Copenhagen speakers will be a perfect companion for any music lover, and a great gift for yourself or your loved ones!

Lights on for Christmas

The simplest decorations are the ones that speak to me the most, almost always. In a time when I do not necessarily feel like decorating for Christmas for personal reasons this year, simple string lights will create a festive feel without committing so much into a festive atmosphere. I combine mine with a few choice candles as well, scents that will calm the mind and create an overall warm welcoming feeling.
Images Via Pinterest
I am sharing some inspiring photos I found on Pinterest with string lights, where the result is minimal yet very engaging. Wrapping a few garlands of string lights around mirrors, a makeshift wooden star or a ladder, will bring soft light into the house, creating an almost fairytale like vibe. I opt for simple white ones so I can possibly leave up for a longer period of time throughout the year, not just Christmas, however they are a top pick when it comes to decorating for the upcoming holidays as well, no matter if the choice is a minimal or a more festive feel.

Bedroom Sneak Peek

I promised I would share my new bedroom before November ended, and while it is not quite ready yet I am so happy with the result I am posting a sneak peak. I don’t want to reveal too much since a post with all the details (and before photos) will be up soon, but I will share some information and answer some questions I have been asked a lot.
We moved in yesterday night after letting the floors dry ( painted white) for a few days. So far the paint is holding on quite well although I did put protecting pads under every single furniture that I moved in, including the bed. The only problem is the floor will get dirtier faster, even after a few days and while it was empty, however it is nothing a simple quick swipe with a broom wont fix. I am proceeding with painting the rest of the floors downstairs starting from today so everything is going to be a mess at least until Christmas.
After we moved the bed in, the only furniture that made the cut were the bed (along with its linens), a marble side table, a table lamp, a pilea plant, a Bluetooth speaker and some hand care creams.
I returned from Bergen without the IVAR cabinets I wanted to place opposite the bed since they were completely out of stock, so I will have to wait for them or find another storage solution. I do not wish to overcrowd the bedroom, so other than a little bit of storage, a mirror (the Georg mirror from Skagerak is perfect) maybe a basket and am extra chair, I will not be adding too much.
For now, even as empty, I am very happy with the look, I am really looking forward to it finishing though, and hopefully the IVAR cabinets will restock quite soon!

Kitchen Christmas Inspiration

I am looking for some Christmas inspiration, especially for the kitchen for some new styling projects, and these images from an old Artilleriet Christmas exhibition are just perfect. I am very into the rustic Scandinavian feel lately, but I like to introduce some minimal elements as well to it, this way it feels I am making it a little bit more my own. As for the perfect pre Christmas afternoon, some gløgg , wood fire, music and a good book is all I need!

Travel Diaries : Bergen Mini Guide

Bergen is always a great destination for short trips, unless you already live there, with some great places to visit, eat and stay. I spend most of my time outside, shopping, walking around the city, watching movies, visiting some places I had on my wishlist for a long time, while any time I could spare (or when the rain was too heavy) I was to be found at a cafe working away on my Macbook. I shared quite a lot of videos on my instagram stories but some highlights (and my favorite restaurants) I am also sharing below, for anyone that wishes to visit Bergen.
I stayed at Scandic Ørnen, a relatively new hotel in Bergen right next to the central bus station. The positioning is great since the bus station has also a quite reasonably priced car parking, so it is easy to leave the car there for the entirety of the trip, while it is a short walk to the hotel and the very center of Bergen. All rooms in Ørnen are comfy and spacious with big windows overlooking Bergen. I especially love the minimal office corners as seen above.

Favorite places to eat while in Bergen :

::For a great lunch or dining experience I highly recommend visiting Lysverket restaurant. The space is designed and furnished by Københavens Møbelsnedkeri, while the menu is superb always prepared with freshly foraged seasonal ingredients.
::Another of my favorite spots to eat is Zupperia, and as the name suggests you can find some of the most amazing soups to eat on a rainy day. Tom Ka Gai and Eksotisk Drøm are my top choices when I visit, do try them!
::I also always stop by Sumo for sushi or Asiatic warm dishes. Pad Thai Noodles are great for those that do not love raw food as much while any sushi combo will satisfy sushi lovers.
::Last but not least for a quick bite or a normal menu, the best burger in town in my opinion is Royal Gourmet Burger and Gin. Try the Gourmet Burger (Brie, bacon ,mustard and honey, truffle oil) with one of their famous Gin combos.

Walking in Bergen is an experience on its own, however having a purpose is always better for me. For beauty/fashion shopping I always visit Pepper ( Acne, Aesop, Byredo are a few of my favorite brands Pepper carries), for interior shopping it is almost a crime not to visit Illums Bolighus, while around Bergens Blue stone (one of the main squares) you can find many malls and shopping streets with just about everything you might need. Bergen combines the charm of a small town with its cobblestone streets and small passages and wooden houses, with the flexibility of a big city with its shopping centers and the many activities to enjoy.

And if you are as lucky as me to go by Voss area on your way towards Bergen and back ,you will also experience one of the most idyllic Norwegian tours. During winter you are guaranteed to go by the most beautiful snowy sceneries . Just pop old ballads on your speakers and enjoy the ride.

It’s beginning to smell like Christmas

In Norway and all Scandinavian countries, Christmas is all about the smell. Or at least, this is my opinion based on my experiences. The houses fill with Amaryllis flowers, Pine, Fir and Spruce branches, while there is almost always Gløgg shimmering on the stove, giving out a distinct aroma of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. Gløgg is a mixture of mulled wine made with cloves and cinnamon, and served warm with a helping of almonds and raisins. You don’t have to make it yourself, several brands sell Gløgg in bottles and the preparation is as easy as pouring some in the pot, add some water and mix in your favorite nuts or orange slices. Blossa, a company that is very popular in Sweden for its authentic Gløgg recipe presented a few weeks ago its new bottle labels designed by The Studio , in a series of photos styled by Lotta Agaton and photographed by Pia Ulin. The effect is striking, the setting and mood fits perfectly with the Scandinavian Christmas feel and it leaves me even more expectant for the upcoming holidays!

Cooking with Eva Solo – Nordic Kitchen

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Eva Solo. All opinions are my own.

Cooking is always so much more fun with tools that are practical but also look so good, you hardly want to put back in the drawer. I have enjoyed using the pots and pans from Eva Solo’s Nordic Kitchen for a while now, the set also includes beautiful oak cutting boards and knife stands. The pots and pans themselves are made of sturdy lightweight aluminium that resembles cast iron in feel and design but without the extra weight. They are so easy to lift even when they are full, it is a joy to use them for everyday cooking. I am a big fan of the wooden details in the handles and the lids too, the design is so very Nordic indeed that it justifies the name of the whole line.

I have combined the cookware with tableware from the Eva Solo Legio Nova line, I find the white plates and accessories with the subtle lining the perfect companion for dinner and coffee. The set is complete with plates, jugs, serving platters, bowls, cups, butter box, glasses and thermo mugs in two sizes ( my personal favorite), so there is no reason to mix and match unless you want to. I am missing some pieces still from the collection but I am happy to slowly add to it as new pieces come out as well.

Today I am cooking baked cauliflower in the oven and on the side I whipped a quick chocolate cake for dessert to enjoy while we drink our coffee ( kept warm in the new light grey Fridge Carafe ). I found the recipe for the Baked Cauliflower in a new cookbook called Gone Fishing by Mikkel Karstad , while the chocolate cake is an easy flour-less recipe that can be found at Martha Steward site. It always turns out so great, I highly recommend trying it at least once.

As a final note, I want to make a note on how sturdy the cookware line is which makes me very happy. There is nothing I dislike more than buying something I really love only for it to age badly with use. I have been using the pots and pans from the Nordic Kitchen for at least 3 months everyday, and they look every bit as new as when I took them out of the box. You can see all the news of Fall ’16 if you click here , the collection includes the Nordic Kitchen line as well as the Legio Nova tableware and the new Carafes and Coffee makers.
As seen above :

Winter Scenes

Since I talked about how winter already here in my last post, I thought it would be very appropriate to share some photos I took while on a long walk while there was snow falling. I always feel like there is magic in the air when snow is slowly falling, whether it is in the city or a rural area. Next week I will be spending some days in Bergen and I do hope it is snowing instead of raining, although since it is Bergen after all, I highly doubt it. Some Christmas shopping is on my to do list, but also a little relaxation , though you will probably find me in Starbucks working while not out and about!

Winter Living Room Makeover

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos. All opinions are my own.
With the first snow falling, winter is officially here so I decided it was time for a living room makeover. Currently I love the feel of linens and marble combined with oak so I gravitated towards getting a few select pieces that would update my space without crowding it. All the additions are from Ellos, so they are very easy to find if you wish to easily replicate the look. Scroll down for tips and how I am using what I chose as seen above!

A while ago I mentioned I wanted to replace my sofa table (the previous can be seen here and usually appears in 2105 living room posts), and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. I chose the Sofabord Axx Stort , 75cm rectangular shape ,black metal frame with white marble top. I preferred it to be square and while usually most of similar style marble tables are 60cm wide, the one I chose is quite larger in both sides and it fits my big couch and my needs better. The marble top is quite beautiful  and everything seems to fit on top of it quite elegantly now.
Another tip when it comes to quick and budgeted makeovers is hidden in fabrics. From pillows, to throws or a carpet, you can change the look of a space in a matter of seconds without investing in any new furniture at all. Here I chose two linen blankets, one to serve as a throw ( Pledd Lilah) while the other ( Himla Pledd Levilin in silver grey color) to serve as a delicate carpet under the new table. In addition a simple belly basket can hold quite a lot of those extra blankets!

With the floor draped in blankets it is easier than ever to even sit down for a coffee and a magazine, something I have been indulging myself with a lot lately! I love the feel and look of linens to the point that I have slowly replaced all my blankets sheets and towels almost with them.

Posters are also an easy way to diversify the look of a plain wall (also easy solution is adding some wall lamps). I love graphic architectural drawings ( I can never escape my own profession) and the French poster Hotel des Ventes fit perfectly with my plans.

And there you have it! In 1-2-3 easy steps I overhauled my living room without committing to a renovation. Below you can find the links from Ellos for everything I mentioned above, if you wish to recreate my look or get something new for your own space. Next in line for a makeover is the bedroom , keep an eye for that post very soon!

Nordic Grey kitchen by KBH

KBH Københavns Møbelsnedkeri once again provides with the kitchen of my dreams. This time in light grey, with brass details and herringbone floors, this is a kitchen that everyone would love to cook in and most importantly, live in. I love the oak detailing in the cabinets as well as the brass feet the central island is wearing. All details are carefully considered for a harmonious and sophisticated effect proving that once more, KBH combines perfectly the tradition of well crafted design with new, innovative projects.

First Snow

The first snow fell this weekend, finally the mountains got all white and I can justify wearing a hat and a thick woolen scarf before going out.Surely who can resist a walk in the snow? I cannot help but drift a little bit when it is snowing outside like that, however there is so much to do in the house (painting weekend). Time to roll up my sleeves and stop looking outside the window, I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Getting ready with Daniel Wellington Classic Black

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Daniel Wellington. All opinions are my own.

Getting ready for a Sunday outing can be an either 2 hours process or it can take just a few minutes, depending on where I am going , how casual I am planning to dress or if it is a formal event. An accessory I cannot leave my home without is definitely a watch on my left wrist. Latest favorite comes from the new Classic Black collection by Daniel Wellington and their new Classic Cuff line. I shared how much I liked this design on my Octobers wishlist, and as soon as I got it I have not stopped wearing it. Scroll down for more photos from the bathroom around the sink area where I prefer to get ready and also for a small surprise at the end of the post and a tip frequent travellers like me will appreciate!

I really like the design of their new Classic Cuff line as well, in silver or rosegold, it is a really good companion to the watch or even alone. I have always been a fan of bracelets ( during summer I regularly buy various handmade leather ones from the street vendors in Monastiraki around the Plaka area in Athens), and I have to be honest these look great even on my bathrooms boudoir.

Now for the small surprise I promised in the beginning of the post, I am happy to share a code with you towards any purchase of any watch or accessory from all the Daniel Wellington collection including the new Classic Black and Classic Cuff line.
Use “Onlydecolove” for 15% off and free shipping wolrdwide until the 31rst of December.
Also a little tip, you can get Eurobonus flight points along with any purchase from the site ( for every watch I believe around 1000 points) which can be spend towards free flights and duty free goodies!

How to cure your own olives ( from your indoors olive tree)

I think every scandinavian house has an indoor olive tree. They are easy to grow and their look is so very unique , yet it fits in almost any style.I got two myself a couple of months ago and one of them quickly filled with olives.Today I decided to take a few minutes from my day and harvest my small olive tree ( you can see how small the tree is here). I wasn’t planning on doing anything with the olives , I mainly wanted to relive the tree of its fruits so it would grow during the winter. However I felt bad just throwing the olives away so I thought I would treat them so they become edible in a few months. I have done this many times while in Greece where I own my own olive trees, though we mostly gather the olives to produce olive oil. In fact the olive oil I do have at home right now comes from my own olive trees!
I felt bad for just throwing the only olives my little indoors tree produced for the first time, so I decided to treat them. If you have indoors olive trees and you want to treat them, do read on for a full tutorial. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes so you should really try it!

Instructions :

Step 1 | Pick the olives from the branches with your hands, this should take only a few minutes if you have a small tree. If you have a bigger one then you can gather them faster with a very wide plastic hair comb.
Step 2 | Make a small incision in each olive with a sharp knife.
Step 3 | Use a clean clear bottle ( a plastic one is recommended ) and drop all the olives inside. Add a little bit of salt but only a pinch.
Step 4 | Seal the bottle and let it rest in a cool place where the sun does not hit for a couple of months. It is important that the bottle lays flat and the water covers its neck completely so no air comes in at all.
Step 5 | Once the olives are cured (read below for tips on timing) make a brine with fresh water, some salt and vinegar. Taste the brine and make it to your liking. Some prefer it saltier, some prefer it more sour. Add more salt or vinegar to taste. Fill a container with the brine and mix in the olives. Keep in a cool place.

Depending on how big the olives are the process might take more or less than 3 months. The incision speeds up the process especially when the olives are bigger but it is not necessary. Since I already cut my olives (and due to their original size) I expect they will be ready around Christmas.
To test if the olives need more time to mature just open the bottle and try one. If it is still too bitter to eat then empty the water from the bottle, fill it with new one, seal it and lay flat as before for a few more weeks.
That is all it takes to cure your own olives. I am really looking forward to how mine will taste like, although they are so small there will be more stone than olive! Hopefully next year or the year after that (olive trees produce fruits every 2 years as a rule) my indoor olive tree will be big enough to give significantly more olives in a bigger size as well. For now I will let you know how this experiment turned out around Christmas!

Next week planning

//Photos by Katerina Dima
As the week draws to an end I find I am always at my busiest. Shoots, styling, extra paperwork, they all seem to accumulate during the weekend more than during the week. On top of working, I have some plans for next week and hopefully by the end of it I will have some results already to share.
Some of my thoughts and plans

:: Painting Plans | When it comes to the bedroom and the first floor, I am finally painting the floors and of course I am going with white or light grey. I am mostly doing this because it gives me the freedom to otherwise experiment with the wall colors! I have wanted for so long to paint in dark shades (grey or blue) and while the floors are a dark shade of red wood it just doesn’t make for a coherent final result. I am so excited for this specific change, it will change the whole look of all the rooms downstairs.
:: Reading Plans | I am becoming an even bigger bookworm than I already was, so I thought a kindle was in order. I have accumulated already so many books in it, I am already half way through Three Sisters ,  Three Queens by Phillipa Gregory from her Tudor court novels and I am planning on finishing it this weekend.
:: Travelling Plans | I am visiting Copenhagen around mid December and due to Christmas I have to plan earlier than usual. I have also to make time to stop by for a coffee and a chat at my favorite showrooms and check the new renovated spaces. You better believe the new Copenhagen Cereal guide is going to be my most trustworthy companion!

Cleverly hidden bedroom in a Cupboard

I have a habit of browsing through appartments for sale, and this one really made me do a double turn. The very cleverly hidden bedroom in this two room small apartment, is the star of the small space when in fact its design hints to the opposite, it is supposed to be inconspicuous and subtle. It manages both brilliantly.  First of all, since it occupies so little space, it leaves the rest of the apartment free to create a very spacious living room and kitchen, fully equipped with a big dining room table as well. And I have to be honest here, even though my bedroom is quite large I find myself not spending any time in it at all save for sleeping. This bedroom nook looks very appealing to me, so very cozy and inviting. You can check more photos of the beautiful apartment listing here.

Long weekend at the cabin

We took a long weekend to visit the cabin, but before we left home I had to go by the post office and collect my latest purchases. Since my favorite online store Mitthjem was still running a discount campaign on And Tradition designs, I put an order for a lamp I have had my eye on for a long time, the Flowerpot in grey matte color. I immediately unwrapped it and placed it in the nearest windowsill I found and it looked too good to move afterwards. I also got my new 2017 planner from Marjolein Delhaas , this time around in Almond Black. My 2016 was in White Black but I noticed it got a little dirty from everyday use and I honestly loved the new color too much to pass. This little planner has been my go to for every note and detail I might want to remember , it is so handy and versatile. I had to put an early order since they go out of stock super fast, so if you want to make sure you will get one in the color you prefer, you might want to do so as well!

Dinner for 4 friends with Eva Solo

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Eva Solo. All opinions are my own.
I often mention how Autumn is my favorite season, so when it came to styling my table for dinner for four of my closest friends, I immediately thought I should decorate for fall. Apples, cranberries and leaves from the trees create the perfect feeling along with a combination of an earthy menu. This was also a great opportunity to use my collection of Eva Solo Trio dinnerware, along with the new Fall 2016 additions of the beautiful line.
I was very happy to also have a full set of the In Between chairs I ordered, so I was only missing a centerpiece. Since the table’s width is very small, I decided to instead hang from the ceiling a big driftwood I had been saving for such an occasion. It took me less than 15 minutes to “dress” it with branches from a forest tree. I hang it from the ceiling with the same twine I used to attach the branches on the driftwood.

When it comes to my menu of choice, I decided it should be simple and earthy. Mushrooms are the perfect fall companion and a simple cod main dish would give me the earthiness I had in mind.

Menu :
Chanterelle Mushrooms and Rodrigo-Style Cod.

For the mushroom dish, I simply sauteed chanterelle , I drizzled some lemon on top and served in one of my favorite bowls from Eva Solo Trio with some black sea salt. ( I usually cook and eat this for lunch during Autumn, as you can see in my Mushroom Season post ).

For the Rodrigo style Cod, I borrowed the recipe from Pati Jinich, I heartily recommend it, it is simple, quick and easy, yet delicious dish!

My centerpiece decoration had to go unfortunately soon after everyone was gone (the branches will wither rather quickly), but everything looked great while me and my friends enjoyed a fall inspired dinner. The Eva Solo dinnerware fitted perfectly with the theme, the design lines of the Trio line elevated the look and complemented my table.
Overall I was very happy with how the evening went, and I am already planning a similar table theme but for Christmas this time around!

And Tradition In Between Chairs for the Dining table

//Photos by Katerina Dima
I think from my posts lately it was plainly obvious I have had the And Tradition In Between Chairs on my to-buy list for some time now. A few weeks ago I finally splurged on 4 of them for my dining table. I was planning a nice post about them, however the post office only delivered two of them, so my plans for an extended post will be a little delayed. I did however snap some quick shots with one of the chairs, the evening light fell so beautifully on them I just couldn’t resist. The chairs come in 4 different color variations with the option to be upholstered as well. I got mine in white oiled no upholstery, I thought they would be easier to maintain in their original condition. They are very comfortable to sit on, and besides, if I need a softer seating I can always drape some of my sheepskins on them.  And Tradition is one of my favorite brands, you can find the chairs and many more designs at Mitthjem online store, one of my favorite stores to shop. If you want to take advantage of the campaign that is running for a while now, you can get the in Between chairs, and other products, on a great discount as well. I have already put an order in for a Flowerpot lamp in soft grey color and some other things, I will share them as soon as they arrive!

Dark Grey Details

While I am wondering how dark I should paint my bedroom walls for winter (and entry), this amazing styling from Pella Hedeby appears on my feed tipping me further and further towards the darker side. So many of my favorite designs from brands are also represented here , And Tradition In Between chairs, lamps from New Works  and a lot of vintage love.

October’s Wishlist

Collage by Only Deco Love
This months wishlist includes some of the things that are a top priority for me, some I would love to be able to splurge on and some that can be bought regardless of a budget. Everything on today’s post has either recently caught my eye or I have wanted for some time now, but either way, I think they represent fall for me perfectly.

:: Style | Everyone needs a little Byredo (Black leather key-pouch) and a little Burberry (Cashmere and leather gloves) in their lives.
:: Wear | My winter will be all about cashmere and wool this year. This dress, the jacket and the coat are my top priority.
:: Read | The new Kinfolk magazine of course.
:: Accessorize | I am loving the new Daniel Wellington all black watches. A new classic for the winter.
:: For the house | The In Between chairs by And Tradition will be my perfect dining room accessory this fall.

Daily Skincare Routine

//Photos by Katerina Dima
My daily skincare routine has always been very simple, but I find essential to try new products especially when they come with hearty recommendations. This is how I discovered Aesop and for the last year I have been using their line almost exclusively. Latest purchases from last time I was in Oslo (other than the London travel kit that I talked about in my Packing essentials), a Parsley Seed facial cleanser(200ml), a Mandarin Facial hydrating cream (120ml) and the Rind Concentrate Body Balm in a tube (120ml). When it comes to my morning routine, I simply wash my face with the Parsley seed cleanser using a brush, then apply some of the Mandarin cream. If I know I am staying home for a couple of hours however, I will instead wash my face with a skincare soap bar from Diptyque, then apply an oil serum from Lancome. Those two steps are enough for me, I really cannot commit to a more elaborate beauty morning routine!

Dreamy City Appartment

Last few days I have been organizing the house with the mission of emptying it as much as I can from anything I am not using. I like rotating some of the products every few weeks, so some I will be putting in the storage for later use. The home of Line Dahy Ernst (featured in Elle Decoration DK) is the perfect inspiration for how I envision the perfect apartment in the city to look like, while beyond that it describes very accurately how much clutter I would like to leave in my own home after the big purge, that is to say, not a lot. I wish I could change the floors as well and generally do a bigger renovation than what I have in mind, however we might be moving earlier than expected and I do not want to spend too much money on a project that I will not be enjoying a year down the line. For now, this month includes a lot of cleaning and throwing out everything that is not used, painting and some new exciting additions to my home that I can’t wait to share!
