Minimal MAXI

Oversized shirting and billowing fabric dominate A.W.A.K.E.’s Resort’18

Thinking of 2018 is almost unbearable for me, I’m just getting used to writing 2017 six months in! Yet for those who work and design for fashion, they’re been planning for next year probably before this one even got started.

This new collection from a brand I’m not familiar with is filled with generous amount of gathered and flowing fabrics, multiple uses of shirting as dresses, skirts and tops and palazzo style trousers. Personally I’d love to wear any of these this Autumn, given I had some place interesting to wear them too, of course!

Scroll below to see more of the line and a few of their current season’s pieces!

How not to be sexy

How not to be sexy – an editorial for Anna Quan shot in Paris Wearing: Apparel – Anna Quan; Fur Slippers – Gucci; Necklace –  The Armoury Store; Ring – 32.4 A a wise friend surmised quite poignantly, that fashion is simply a form of communication, with its own discrete language – our choice of clothes and brand alignments (read: personal style), and the ideas created and advanced, are part of a perpetual dialogue. There’s no doubt that, most things in the world being about sex, even the language of fashion is intended for the conveyance of sexual attraction. However, the mistake that a younger me made of expressing style through baring skin and flaunting the figure, turned out to be an error, not in the theme, but the syntax. In the 12 months since its iconic ‘Anne’ shirt, with its French cuffs and navy silk trim, gained cult status, Anna Quan’s narrative has become more eloquent and refined still. Rather than conforming to the trend driven Australian fashion industry (which would have required abandoning some of the label’s core values), it chose to refocus its attentions to where its offerings had already garnered a captive audience. Any concerns over the risks and […]

LIFE / STOKKE ON THE GO #1

A new collaboration is up and this time I’ve teamed up with Stokke to capture two of my hotspots in Holland. So, have you ever wondered how I start my weekend? Every Saturday morning you can find me in the Haarlemmermeerse Bos for a work out. Normally it’s for a bootcamp session, but this time I took Enzo with me in the Stokke Xplory stroller for a powerwalk training. Nothing beats a good sweat in the fresh air after a long and hectic week. After every work out I always stop by the restaurant Vork en Mes (which means fork and knife) for a cup of coffee. This restaurant is located at the Haarlemmermeerse Bos and uses organic ingredients which are mostly self-grown. Besides the amazing quality of the food the building is also just beautiful with the greatest view over the lake. It’s where I reload and enjoy some time for myself, while my mother is watching over Enzo. And even though I normally always pay Vork en Mes a visit without Enzo, it was nice to spend some quality time together at one of my personal favourite spots. So to all you fitgirls and momma’s I highly recommend you to visit Vork en Mes one day. WEARING: MUUBAA OVERSIZED LEATHER JACKET, FRONTROW JACKET, JOGHA JUNGLE TIGHTS, ADIDAS SNEAKERS AND RAYBAN SUNNIES ENZO WEARING: DUDES AND DOLLS PANTS, YOUNG ONE APPAREL (BOTH AVAILABLE AT THE COLOR BLUE.NL), CONVERSE SNEAKERS AND HM CARDIGAN REVIEW OF THE STOKKE XPLORY: Besides that I love the design of the Stokke Xplory it’s really practical too. By reversing the seat you turn the stroller in to a chair for your little one, that way you can make any restaurant or cafe child-friendly. It’s super easy to fold in and out and therefor easy to take with you anywhere you go.

But, boy, did it feel good to wear some heels again and feel elegant for a change. Especially, after a week of staying in bed watching series like ‘Faking it’ or ‘Orange is the New Black’ for the entire day. Which is awesome too! But… I do miss getting dressed up (besides for my weekly check ups at the hospital).

RECAP / OUTFIT FAVOURITES FROM 2014

A Little tradition we have here on COTTDS.com is the yearly outfit recap. Picked out my personal favourites from the over 100 looks I’ve posted in 2014. It have definitely been challenging to shoot my outfits for the blog the last 6 months. Starting in June when I had a positive pregnancy test. After that my whole world changed, I changed. Mentally but also physically. The physical changes were pretty intense in the beginning. The first 3 months I was extremely tired and I hardly had energy to blog (or anything else for that matter). At that time my baby bump also really started to show, which didn’t make it easy to take outfitshots without showing it.. After 4,5 (long) months I finally shared the amazing news with you, and I was able to show off that cute baby bump. My favourite accessory for sure! ;) It have been a life changing year for me. A dreamy and special year. And the fun part is that 2015 will be even greater. Can’t wait to meet my little man next month! PS: Curious to see the yearly recap of 2013? Check it out here.

OUTFIT / CONVERSE COMFY

WEARING: LILIJA LARIONOVA COAT, ISABELLA OLIVER MATERNITY LEATHER TROUSERS, HM TOP, WHITE CONVERSE ALL STARS SNEAKERS, PS11 TINY BAG AND ONLY SCARF / 33 WEEKS Currently so hooked on my Converse sneakers that Santa got me a white pair as well. Found these under the Christmas tree 2 weeks ago. They are so comfy to wear during my pregnany, the only downside is that I need assistance to get them on. Can’t even tie my own shoe laces anymore. haha.

OUTFIT / THE DARK SIDE

WEARING: LILIJA LARIONOVA OVERSIZED COAT, ISABELLA OLIVER LEATHER TROUSERS, GIVENCHY TEE, PS11 TINY BAG, KURT GEIGER HEELS / 31 WEEKS

OUTFIT / I’M HOOKED

WEARING: ISABEL MARANT POUR H&M OVERSIZED COAT, ISABELLA OLIVER (MATERNITY) LEATHER LEGGINGS, ISABEL MARANT ‘TACY’ BOOTS, PS11 TINY BAG / 29 WEEKS I’m pretty hooked on my leather maternity leggings from Isabella Oliver. I seriously don’t know how I would have survived this maternity clothing-thing if I didn’t had these. I just need – at least! – one pair of black leather trousers in my wardrobe.

WANTED / CHRISTMAS WISHLIST

Some items that I wouldn’t mind finding under the christmas tree this year. ;) With some items a bit out of budget unfortunately, but a girl needs to keep dreaming, right?

OUTFIT / THE FULL LOOK

WEARING: ZARA JUMPSUIT, MUUBAA LEATHER JACKET (find it here or here), KURT GEIGER LEOPARD HEELS (find it here) AND PS11 TINY BAG (find it here and here) / 23 WEEKS A couple of weeks ago I already showed you a preview of this look with my new oversized leather jacket. And here we have the full outfit. These photos just remind me again, how perfect this jacket is. Can you tell I’m in love?

OUTFITS / NOVEMBER

And just like that we have landed in the last month of the year ALREADY. Why is time always flying so fast? Which also means I’m starting to get really close to my due date. I can’t wait to meet the little guy that’s growing inside of me, but it’s also becoming a bit scary now it’s all going so fast! Just two more months before my new life is kicking off. Can’t wait!

OUTFIT / 23

WEARING: HM OVERSIZED BLAZER, MUUBAA LEATHER TROUSERS, ISABEL MARANT ANDREW BOOTS AND PS11 MINI / 23 WEEKS I’m kind of happy that I shot so many looks up front, the cold is just insane. No way I will voluntarily stay outside longer than 5 seconds. Brrr!

IT DON’T MEAN A THING

If this video doesn’t set you in the holiday spirit, I don’t know what will. This winter H&M is celebrating the Holidays with their Holiday collection and this awesome campaign video featuring superstars Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett! Which makes me want to do two things immediately: 1. decorate my whole apartment in Christmas spirit and 2. chase down that amazing knitted oversized sweater Lady Gaga is wearing. Who’s with me?

OUTFIT / NOT MUCH TO SAY

WEARING: GESTUZ PANTS, HM TREND CAMI TOP, HM OVERSIZED BLAZER, ZARA LEOPARD HEELS, JILL SANDER CLUTCH / 16 WEEKS There really isn’t much to say about this outfit. Besides, it looked so much better in real life (or at least I hope it did). Maybe there are just too many oversized items going on here in 1 outfit. I blame the secret baby bump! But still, it did looked OK when I was wearing this 10 weeks ago. Anyway, sharing this outfit on the blog even though I would rather not. haha. You can not always be on top of your game, right?

OUTFIT / THE YEAR AFTER

WEARING: ISABEL MARANT POUR HM OVERSIZED BLAZER, HM TREND LEGGING, ALEXANDER WANG SOFIA THIGH HIGH BOOTS, ZARA TEE AND PS11 MINI / 23 WEEKS

OUTFITS / OCTOBER

So, my October outfits were all about showing off the baby bump. One that have growed big time the last few weeks. I officially had to say goodbye to all my jeans and leather trousers (accept for one pair!), since I simply can’t fit in to them anymore. Not cool! But hey, it’s for a good cause.

OUTFIT / CHECK

WEARING: H&M BLOUSE AND OVERSIZED BLAZER, MUUBAA LEATHER TROUSERS, ALEXANDER WANG STRAPPY HEELS AND PS11 TINY BAG And, again, a look that I took a few weeks ago. When it was still acceptable to wear open heels outside. Now? Not such a good idea. (freezing!) I feel like I’m a bit behind on my blogging, it’s quite challenging to keep up with my normal life nowaways. Maybe it’s just time to face the fact that I’m pregnant haha.

OUTFIT / NEGLECTED

WEARING: ALEXANDER WANG ‘SOFIA’ BOOTS, ZARA JUMPSUIT, HM OVERSIZED BLAZER, PS11 TINY BAG, FASHIONOLOGY JEWELERY / 23 WEEKS These boots are absolutely my favourite shoes at the moment. Funny, since I have been neglecting them quite a bit. Must be the pregnancy, which forces me to see my wardrobe in a whole new light. But hey, they are back!

I think it’s about 15 years ago when I was rocking my Palladium Pampa boots to highschool. All the cool girls were wearing them that school year, so of course I had to have my own pair as well. Such a trendsetter (haha!). After that hype I kind of forgot all about Palladium. Until now. Because they are back! And with an awesome worldwide campaign. Of course Amsterdam is represent as well. In this #ExploreYourCity video you will discover places in Amsterdam that only the insiders know. So put on your Palladium boots and go exploring!
