Trend: Hair Accessories

So friends I guess you could say that we are somewhat of a small group of accessory fangirls. All things handbags, shoes and earring related are our all-time weakness. So you could probably gauge our excitement when the hair accessory trend made a modern day comeback, late in 2018. The Autumn Winter Runway shows were repleted

Hair care favorites

Do you ever think about doing something and later realize you didn’t ACTUALLY do it? This happens to me all of the type, I think about texting me mom back or I think about how I need to get back to an email and somehow the thought becomes a memory of something I didn’t really do.

If this has never happened to you then…oh come on, it happens to everyone! This is one of those things and with blog posts I’m guilty more often than not of photographing something with the intent to share but then life happens and you forget that you didn’t follow through. Sounds like na organization problem or maybe it’s mom brain, keeping everyone else’s life straight I tend to put my own on the back burner. Which is a great segway to share this hair & skin brand from New Zealand who, I may have forgotten about for a second, but is exactly what I need when I’m thinking of everyone else’s needs. My hair is naturally somewhat curly, loose curls but they’re definitely more than waves, which means my hair is also naturally dry. Sans [ceuticals] lets you fill out a profile that customizes products for you, so if you have dry hair like me or even if you don’t, they suggest products that suite you specifically.
It’s been a few weeks and I love what I use, the tube I even keep next to my bed and run a little dab of it through my hair before braiding it and falling asleep. Also, let us not overlook their lovely packaging, functional product and beautiful packaging is the formula for my affection!

A new location for this Stockholm salon, Paloma Dolores

Almost exactly one month ago in Stockholm three women named Anna, Karin and Isabella open their newer and larger hair salon location.

The women designed and sketched the renovation for their new spots and chose every facet of the interior themselves. From the color palette to mirrors and even the bespoke smocks made exclusively for Paloma Dolores, every part of this space has evidence of their personal handiwork. The owners even got their handy boyfriends to pitch in on a lot of the work.

The beautiful photos were taken by Ulrika, who will recognize from her recent articles including this Autumnal DIY and part I of a city guide to STHLM! Find the new location at Östgötagatan, in Södermalm.

6 things I liked this week (from last week)

A brief overview of some of the things I saw and liked last week, delayed because we went on a quick trip out of town last week and I was enjoying disconnecting for those days! The whole family visited friends, spent the day at the beach flying kites and ate at some new restaurants. It was nice to to step out of our routine and stay up late, eat candy (mostly the kids), and make it all up as we go along. But now we’re back home and back in our rhythm so this is a catch up from what I saw online back then.
Nordiska Kok styled by the talented and dynamic duo, Sundling/Kickén.

Autumn news from COS, I like the brown tones in these images as well as that shaped skirt.

This Cobra lamp from Artilleriet swivels 360 ° around to project light in different directions. Cobra was designed by Elio Martinelli in 1968 and was of the first lighting fixtures made with a special resin casting system. Also it’s this functional sculptural type of piece that I love so much right now.

Next-level 5 strand braids from the Jill Sander’s runway, I’m putting this on my weekend to do list of tutorials to youtube!

Maiju’s beautiful styling of Swedish Midnatt‘s new organic bedding line, this Dromedary color is heading for Elin’s bed now and is a very simple way of making her room feel more seasonal Fall ready.

These clay, wax-filled jars from H&M are candles and they come in three color ways and two sizes, the largest being a lidded jar. I like that the candles can live two lives, once the wax has burned down clean out the remainder and reuse your jar to store small things like cotton balls or other toiletries!

Favorite personal care products

Yesterday I booked our airbnb house for June, we’re going to LA with the kids that week. It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper vacation so I’m looking forward to this very much. With the trip planned along with the weather changing I’ve been thinking more and more about getting myself ready. Starting a new workout routine (so hard to stick to for me) and of course being conscious of my diet for starters but also I’m realizing my skin and hair have taken a harsh beating from the dry winter and not exactly beach ready, yet. This week I booked a hair appointment and next week the dentist, something I’ve put off for months because I hate seeing the dentist. HATE it. Being an adult is so…overrated.
So I thought I’d share with you a few of my personal tried-and-true favorites, things I’ve bought again and again because the work so well for me.

Aesop B & Tea toner – this has been one of my favorite go to’s for everyday but especially when I feel a zit coming on.

Iris Hantverk face brush – nice for exfoliating with a gentleman cream cleaners, like this one for example.

Ouai hair masque – my hair is naturally curly so it dries out and breaks faster and easier than most hair. I use these twice a month which has given me noticeable improvement in the texture. Along with several other leave in products, this makes me hair feel softer and healthier.

Ritual essential for women – this offers longer term benefits but taking a multivitamin is crucial for me because I know there are some days my diet isn’t perfectly balanced. This one is specifically for women and I do love the minimal packaging (a plus)!

Glossier stretch concealer – On a normal day I wear very little makeup. I’m not having my picture taken nor do I see a lot of people who I need to impress. ;) I do however have some small scars and redness but I’m not going to spend 30 minutes carefully layering a lot of makeup for a perfect finish. This is ideal for me to dab on with my finger, it gives a natural coverage and blends easily. No doubt the best concealer I’ve tried yet. It’s a keeper.

Mario Badescu drying lotion – a good friend suggested this to me, besides the toner it’s the other product I use if I feel a pimple coming. I had moved this apparently too aggressively for the photos because I somehow mixed the ingredients but you’re not supposed to. Keep the pink sediment at the bottom and dip a q tip all the way through. This can be applied as a spot treatment and really does the job. Sometimes I can keep a pimple at bay with only this stuff.

French Girl lip polish – one of my newest purchases, I wanted something to scrub my lips with because I noticed they get cry a lot. I know I need to drink more water but when I’m in a pinch this helps.

If you have any favorite person products you want to share, feel free to leave it in the comments section below. Nothing is better than personal recommendation to me so please do tell!

hair resolutions with Shu Uemura

As you already know my hair has been through quite an adventure last year. The combination of having it colored/bleached many times, living in the city which have left me to deal with urban aggressors like dust and pollution, and during the winter time my hair is so dry it’s no fun to comb through anymore. New Year means it’s time for a detox. I’ve always been a big fan of Shu Uemura, and own a few of their products at home to style my hair. So you can imagine my excitement when John Barrett salon introduced me to a new Shu Uemura regimen to address my concerns. My stylist Robbie treated me to the Shu Uemura Urban Moisture line, which is exactly what I was looking for.  The collection is great for anyone living in an urban area and are constantly surrounded by things like pollution, hard water and UV rays, and it’s also great for anyone who suffers from dry hair. The products have some cool natural ingredients like Moringa and red algae are rich in vitamins and minerals so they actually heal the hair and protect it from future aggressors and leave it looking really healthy and […]

inspiration from Dior A/W 2016

Excuse my partial silence this week, I’ve wanted to blog but when I get free time to do so I’ve been so tired and opting for a nap sounded better. Hey, I haven’t been on vacation yet this year so I don’t feel so guilty for napping. Next month we are ta…

styling medium length hair

Once upon a time I used to care about my hair. Not in the way of keeping it clean or neat, but in terms of playing around with it, taking actual time to do the do’s. Somewhere between starting uni (read: having to rise at five o’clock in the AM every day) and simplifying different […]

DIY Céline hairclip

It’s been more than a year since we witnessed the emergence of the perfect hair accessory at Céline runway show of SS 2015. The thought of finding something similar one day has been stuck in the back of my mind since. I finally found what I have long coveted – the Céline hair clip look-a-like, […]

BEAUTY / ONE MILLION

It’s golden! One of my favourite perfumes of this moment: Pacco Rabanne’s Lady Million. A golden bottle in the shape of a diamond. What’s not to like? Somehow I always choose this scent in the night time. Whether it’s because I’m going out to dinner with the boyfriend or hitting the town with my girls. It’s just the perfect finishing touch after getting all dressed up and doing your ‘going out’ make up. Or is that just me? Having a fragrance for every occassion or part of the day?

WEARING / BETTER LATE

A few photos from my unpublished folder on my desktop. Shot these photos months ago for the blog, and forgot all about them. O, well. Better late than never… Enjoy your Sunday.

one minute hairstyle

I think it’s safe to say that this is the longest relationship I’ve ever been involved in. In the hair styling world, at least. I’ve done it all – one night stand with slicked back hair, casually dating messy hair-dos, intense flirting with the colors of the rainbow (pink, lavender, bleached white, gray…). Yet through […]

Silver Lining

Super excited to share a little more about last week’s project in Hamburg! I spent the day at Salon Moij where hair stylist (or colouring magician – seriously) Chris Weber gave my look a much needed change.

As you know I have been talking about changing my hair colour for

The Good Stuff

The best purple shampoo and conditioner on the market to get rid of brassy blonde hair.

INTERIOR / BEAUTY CORNER

Last week I’ve received a huge box with the entire Balmain Luxury Care & Styling product line, such a treat! The packaging is just too beautiful to store away in a closet, so I’ve created a little beauty corner in my bedroom. I’m such a sucker for minimalistic beauty packaging. <3
