Sunday Sanctuary: Curatorial House

This week at OF HQ we have been channeling the Wes Anderson vibes where the unusual, witty, meticulous and richly detailed are all prerequisites. And just when we thought we’d had enough (said no one ever) this Sunday Sanctuary came along. Known as the Curatorial House, this is where a collaboration between Architect Luke Moloney and interior

Sunday Sanctuary: Formula

It’s fair to say that it’s in our nature to sometimes overcomplicate things, but I think you’ll agree that often times, simpler is best. The clean lines, open space and understated interiors in this beautiful home in India are a nice breath of fresh air… Add to that, just a surprising touch of something a […]

A new location for this Stockholm salon, Paloma Dolores

Almost exactly one month ago in Stockholm three women named Anna, Karin and Isabella open their newer and larger hair salon location.

The women designed and sketched the renovation for their new spots and chose every facet of the interior themselves. From the color palette to mirrors and even the bespoke smocks made exclusively for Paloma Dolores, every part of this space has evidence of their personal handiwork. The owners even got their handy boyfriends to pitch in on a lot of the work.

The beautiful photos were taken by Ulrika, who will recognize from her recent articles including this Autumnal DIY and part I of a city guide to STHLM! Find the new location at Östgötagatan, in Södermalm.

A nearly perfect house, it just needs to be filled with the right decor

Every so often I come across a space or a home that makes my jaw drop. Like it has taken all of my own longings and dreams that I’ve carried with me over the years and made them into a physical, livable space. For someone else! Ok, it’s not like the EXACT manifestation of all my dreams come true but this place designed by Mclaren.Excell in the UK, it comes pretty close to having all the essentials that I could want in a structure. Of course this is sans decor and interior styling, just the bare bones house, all ready to be moved into and personalized with your own belongings.

I’m imagining some large green plants next to the windows, soft velvety rugs in the living space with an oversized sofa and floor lamp. Some candles and books, throw blankets to add softness to the concrete and wood flooring. I’m not thrilled with the concrete flooring in the lower level of the home, I prefer the wood floors like what you find on the second level of this home as it feels softer and more forgiving than concrete but hey, that could be fixed.

Below are a few things that I would personally want to put in this home which is nearly perfect in every way.

Hotel Danmark by Brøchner Hotels

I have known for a while that Brøchner Hotels are opening a new 4+ Luxury Boutique hotel in the best location in Copenhagen, central and right next to, and the first photos do not disappoint. I have already booked a room at the newly renovated Hotel Danmark in the following weeks, I am very looking forward to experiencing the rooftop terrace with the 360 city view, the urban indoor vineyard and the conceptual in-house restaurant. The hotel opens on the 3rd of May but I will be travelling to Zurich for a fun project on that exact date so I couldnt go to the opening, however after a few weeks I will be back in Copenhagen and ready with my camera to snap some photos to share. Is is so fun to shoot in a space that is not already exposed in the media as much, finding those spots and details that catch the eye in never seen before footage, I honestly cannot wait!

Woods Agentur Showroom – SS17 Styling

Today, my first day in Oslo, first thing on my schedule was to visit my beloved Woods Agentur showroom ( the talented ladies also behind one of my favorite online stores Mitthjem ) where I got to see news first hand from the collections of Serax, Frederik Bagger, Vibeke Scott – Langkilde & søn -Valerie Objects and Ole Gjerløv Knutsen / Skovshoved Møbelfabrik. From new tableware to lamps, to new fabrics and new materials (check below the bamboo bowls stacked neatly on the windowsill), there was something for everyone in todays fresh styling. I tried to capture some of the mood with a few photos, I hope you enjoy ! You can see the Summer styling in August here if you want to see the difference (it is really the same showroom) , it is really amazing what these ladies can do when it comes to styling!

Kitchen Christmas Inspiration

I am looking for some Christmas inspiration, especially for the kitchen for some new styling projects, and these images from an old Artilleriet Christmas exhibition are just perfect. I am very into the rustic Scandinavian feel lately, but I like to introduce some minimal elements as well to it, this way it feels I am making it a little bit more my own. As for the perfect pre Christmas afternoon, some gløgg , wood fire, music and a good book is all I need!

It’s beginning to smell like Christmas

In Norway and all Scandinavian countries, Christmas is all about the smell. Or at least, this is my opinion based on my experiences. The houses fill with Amaryllis flowers, Pine, Fir and Spruce branches, while there is almost always Gløgg shimmering on the stove, giving out a distinct aroma of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. Gløgg is a mixture of mulled wine made with cloves and cinnamon, and served warm with a helping of almonds and raisins. You don’t have to make it yourself, several brands sell Gløgg in bottles and the preparation is as easy as pouring some in the pot, add some water and mix in your favorite nuts or orange slices. Blossa, a company that is very popular in Sweden for its authentic Gløgg recipe presented a few weeks ago its new bottle labels designed by The Studio , in a series of photos styled by Lotta Agaton and photographed by Pia Ulin. The effect is striking, the setting and mood fits perfectly with the Scandinavian Christmas feel and it leaves me even more expectant for the upcoming holidays!

Cozy blogging spot

There are many places in my home that I choose to work from when I want to concentrate, mostly however you will find me either on my desk or on the living room table. There is quite an appeal working outside too, I certainly love a good hot chocolate and a few hours in my favorite coffee shop, but the truth is, I will mostly work from home. This cozy kitchen nook via Fantastic Frank seems like the perfect place to me. The light is just right, not too bright but at the same time very inviting, while the space is minimal and inspiring. Some advice when it comes to styling your working space as seen above is to remove as much clatter as possible, add one or two greens or flowers, a candle and a lamp for late hours, then get your warm coffee and a snack and you are ready to get to work.

Press Breakfast at Woods Agentur

Yesterday I spend my day in Oslo attending some press events in the city. Woods Agentur  showroom was my first stop for press breakfast, where I had the pleasure to meet everyone behind Woods but also Frederik Bagger the young and talented designer behind the crispy glasses and the new series crispy porcelain. Among my favorites in the beautifully styled Woods showroom where the new Serax tableware series but also all time loved Hale Merchantile and Co blankets and linens. New and noted Vibeke Scott pillows and bedroom robes also caught my eye. You cannot miss the beauty of the velvet texture and colors along with the floral accents all wonderfully arranged on the couch. I couldn’t have started my day any better.

Grey Berdrooms : Dark embracing the Light

1 | 2 | 3 | 45 | 6 | 7
Last year I painted the lower half of my bedroom a nude pink (you can see it here or here or if you follow The Bedroom category), and I have to say I am not entirely pleased by the result. Seing how beautiful Elisabeths bedroom looks like in grey I decided to take the step and repaint mine as well. First though I have to paint the floors so this might take a while(hopefully within July it will be finished though). I created a moodboard with various grey bedrooms in this post today to serve as inspiration but also to remind me that I can be bold with the hue as well. Which one do you prefer, light grey or dark grey for bedroom? Right now I have problems making up my mind!

Summer Inspiration

IKEA is providing with plenty of summer inspiration this time around, from garden solutions to refurbishing to kitchen and dining. I am in the middle of reorganizing our small balcony (even though the weather this weekend was adamant not to let us work),and as a small space I want to create a cozy atmosphere and a place to relax on the afternoons or share a coffee and breakfast in the sunny mornings. I am thinking of something in low budget that can be easily replicated, and some DIY to bring everything together. I have also created a Pinterest board Home▲Outdoors where I pin all my summer outdoors inspiration, feel free to peek if you want to find great ideas for your veranda, yard or patio.Hopefully the weather will let me start soon on my own little outdoor project, I cannot wait to share the final results with you!

Muuto and Vifa SS16 Design News

//Photos via Muuto | Press Kit
A little late due to my holiday break but I couldn’t not share some news that arrived in my mailbox while away. First up Muuto‘s SS16 news with an great addition to their carefully curated collection, the “Framed” mirror designed by Anderssen&Voll. It can be used on its own or even in combination with the rest of the colors and sizes of the same line, either way it will create an impressive result. I was also happy to see my favorite Stacked System also got an extra accessory. A hinged door can be added to each of the boxes, thus either creating storage space or giving an extra layer to add to the wonderful design of your system, a very welcomed addition indeed!
//Photos via Vifa | Press Kit
I also got a newsletter from Vifa about their new Bluetooth portable speaker Oslo. Continuing the tradition of naming this line after Nordic capitals I fell in love with Oslo at first sight. Simple yet powerful design, comes in many colors guaranteed to fit your lifestyle. The market is so saturated with portable speakers in our days, but Oslo promises and delivers full sound in full design in a way that it will be hard to resist even if you already own a Bluetooth speaker.

Playful Shadows in an old apartment

I am thinking of replacing the floor upstairs and painting the ones downstairs white. I really like how old pine planks look, they give such a unique feeling. Many believe Scandinavian design is all about white, however I am starting to dream of darker softer shades of grey and pine planks. So much inspiration in the Birkagatan Apartment 36 by Fantastic Frank

Before and After : A kitchen to swoon over

I am introducing a new category on the blog today called “Before and After”. I love seeing before and after photos, and I have a few posts planned that will definitely make you rethink about whether to redo a space you might not even thought needed it. I cannot think of a better example to start of than the apartment of interior stylist Mette Helena Rasmussen. Mette wanted to restyle her kitchen but didn’t know whether to go all white or add some dynamic with bold colors. At the end she decided to paint a whole wall black and repaint the rest of the kitchen all white (originally a very pale blue).

The timber cubes serving as an open cabinet space were also painted white. Every wooden detail is thus elevated, the ceramic collection shines through.
The sitting area also got a make over, serving now more as a sitting room in a contemporary cafe rather than a brunch area in the kitchen.

Ultimately the black wall serves as a point of interest, enunciating all the small details that might have gotten lost before. The result is very fresh, especially when someone needs a change from what is the norm in their everyday life.Whereas Mette will change her kitchen again it remains to be seen but personally I predict soon an all white result. Speaking of personal experience while black walls give a temporary lift, it is hard to resist the classic clean all white Scandinavian look.

I would move in the beautiful apartment by Kristin Sundberg today if I could. There are many all white apartments but this one is my absolute favorite as of late. Maybe not everyone will love the all white theme but everytime I see a photo from her home it makes me take a white bucket of paint and splash everything that is not white in my own place. And to be honest, I am this close to actually doing just that! Scroll down for more photos of this amazing place!

Sunday Sanctuary: Extracarricular

Believe it or not, we are all welcome to stay in this incredible place anytime we like… Well, at least anytime we are in Belgium looking for a place to rest our weary feet. You see, in addition to being a design lovers delight, this space is a Bed and Breakfast immaculately styled by Bea Mombaers, a collector […]

Spring News from By Lassen

Every season my mailbox  explodes with news from my favorite brands, I am always excited when I open them, it is great to see how trends are formed and evolve at the same time depending on the season! Today I am more than happy to present you with some of my favorite pieces of the By Lassen Spring news. Are you ready?

If you read my blog you already know how much I love the Kubus Candleholders from By Lassen, and now for spring they are also available in a Nikel-plated version! I loved the brass version for the winter and this is no exception, I would love to have a pair of these as well.

What is spring without flowers and greens? I was more than happy to find out that By Lassen just launched their first line of pots and they look amazing! I love how the curves meet with a strict line, minimalism meets with earthy materials and the result is truly stunning. The Rimm flowerpots come in 3 colors and various sizes, it will be hard for me to pick my favorite.

The most anticipated item for me was one I was lucky enough to see in an early preview and I am so happy I can finally share it with you today. The Twin bookcase is so elegant, I think for now it is my favorite piece of the whole By Lassen line of products. It will not be long before you will see it in almost every house and apartment for sale, just mark my words. It comes in various sizes and in two colors, it is a timeless piece of furniture that will become a classic.

Sense of Scandinavia

A little while ago you might remember I took over Skandinavisk Instagram account for a few days, showing what sense of Scandinavia is to me. I think being a foreigner in Norway is giving me quite a different sense than someone who was born and raised here, both experiences so unique in their own way. From beautiful all white winters, to blooming green springs, the summers being so bright and the autumns being showered in yellow light, it feels as if Scandinavia is trying to not only tickle your senses, but blow them away completely.
There is nothing I do not love with passion here. Those chilly summer afternoons? Please pass me the blanket and coffee while I watch the sun go down. Want something to do during the day? How about paddle your hours away in a kayak in the fjords. Is the snow falling? Great! Take your skis out for a stroll. Feeling restless? Pack a few drinks and snacks and head for a hike in one of thousands trails in the beautiful woods overseeing the waters. The colours are always exuberant, whatever the season, and the views will never ever let you down no matter what part of the country you travel. These are just a few ways I enjoy my time in Scandinavia, and I am not even including the cities that are the centre of design and the “It” place to be if you are in any way into design or architecture. The people in Scandinavia seem always to be joyful and welcoming, maybe it is the cold that makes people come together, maybe it is just in their disposition to love life. All of that makes for a special feel that lingers even if you only visit any part of Scandinavia for a short vacation.
I am happy to share today the new catalog for 2016 from Skandinavisk and their first feature film which you can watch below. It captures perfectly the sense of Scandinavia from my point of view as well, enjoy!

Normann Copenhagen HQ Visit

Travel and accommodation was sponsored by & Tradition and Normann Copenhagen.

Photos by Katerina Dima for Only Deco Love

During December I was lucky to be invited along with 7 other prestigious bloggers to a two day event in Copenhagen by and Tradition and Normann Copenhagen. You can see the results of the stylings in the and Tradition showroom here and today I finally got around to editing all the photos from the visit at the Normann Copenhagen HQ the second day of the event! It was quite amazing experience, I cannot thank enough everyone involved that made it happen. We arrived early at the Normann Copenhangen HQ were we met with the team behind the brand and quite a few of the designers. We spend the whole day with them, had brunch and talked about the new trends in design at the offices, we were given some insights on the designs of the key pieces of the Normann Copenhagen and before the day ended we left with our hands filled with Christmas presents. A perfect day! Above you can see some of the photos from the HQ and offices, the building is amazing enough on its own but its a dream walking in the store that is filled with everything from the brands range along with some other key products they curate. Again a big thank you to everyone, Paul , Vibe, Britt, Simon, Christian and Johanne I hope to meet you soon again!

Stelton Theo Stoneware – Slow Brewed Coffee methods

// Sponsored post in collaboration with Stelton.I was provided with the Theo Coffee set. All opinions are my own.

Have you tried slow brewed coffee? If you like coffee (and even if you don’t) , slow brewed coffee is something you must try once, you will be amazed by its taste and flavor. There are many ways to prepare a slow brew, all will create different flavor and feel depending on how you actually brew the coffee. I will not get into too much details but at the end it is a matter of preference of how much coffee oil you like your coffee to have and how clear you want your drink to be.
Less oil in the coffee results to a slightly more bitter taste but one that highlights the more subtle notes in it, the coffee is as clean as it can be. More oil in the coffee results in an earthier bolder flavored cup, this method will result to some residue in the coffee cup. The secret to different ways of brewing is based on what type of filter you  use so that leaves the choice of the vessel up to you in many ways. I was lucky to receive a Theo Stoneware slow brew coffee set from Stelton and I have been using it every day! I use standard Chemex filters for when I want my coffee to have less oils in it and Hario cloth filter for when I want it to have more oil. While the Chemex and Hario coffee brewers are lovely to look at on their own, I absolutely love the stoneware feel of the Theo by Stelton, plus the size of 600 ml is perfect for two people. It is neither too big nor too small, and it looks as great as it feels! I am running a giveaway on my Instagram for a set just as the one above and today is the last day to enter so feel free to click here if you have an instagram account to participate :)

By Lassen Love

// In collaboration with byLassen.I was provided with the white Line. All opinions are my own.

I think by now you all know my love for By Lassen, the clean beautiful lines of their products fit my temperament perfectly. You will always catch a glimpse or two here and there of By Lassen in my house and today is no different. I was wrapping gifts for Christmas and I thought some of the left over ribbon would look great in a shape of a bow on my white Line, it is such a simple decoration yet it brings out a festive tone, I ended up wrapping all my Kubus with ribbons! At the end I love simple styling more than anything, and especially when it is easy to recreate I think it is what makes it a winner. So go ahead and use all your leftover decorations before the New Year comes and goes! :)

Happy Holidays!

//Photos and styling by Katerina Dima

Our very first Christmas tree is proudly standing in the living room with a few ornaments and lights ready to spread the holiday cheer. Since this is our first year decorating the house I only bought was I thought was necessary , few Lyngby spruces , some Bloomingville diamonds and porcelain snow flakes in various sizes. Next year I will add a few select ornaments again , it will be great to have a collection to choose from eventually. It was really fun putting everything up (my boyfriend and our Milo together), it is a tradition I am planning to repeat every year!
The rest of the house, as our tree, is decorated very subtle and minimalistic, mostly with natural tones, twigs and flowers and few key decorating stars lights and candles. I am digging the result, it feels very festive and light, I will have a hard time removing the holiday additions come New year. For now I will enjoy every part of it however, I hope you are going to have a great holiday as well with your loved ones and your friends!

Get the Holiday Look

Last few days it has been so hard to catch enough natural daylight to take photos of my home, after all it is the darkest of the year, but I wanted to share some of what I have been inspired lately regardless! The beautiful home I am sharing today is one I would love to move in immediately if not sooner. I love the grey walls and the careful choices of materials and colours, and I would give anything to have those floors! I can spot many of my favourite designers spread throughout the apartment and I adore the subtle Christmas touches here and there. The marble Hay tray is filled with Christmas ornaments, there are different miniature evergreens in various pots from Anne Black to Tine K, while my favourite candleholder from By Lassen Kubus4 in black is draped with leaves and twigs while its candles are burning softly. This understated holiday look is perfect in my eyes.

Inspiration for Christmas 2015 by Åhlens

Beautiful styling and photos from Åhlens Christmas catalog. I love the bold use of colors that are not traditionally used during Christmas. Perfect inspiration not just for the festive days but for winter as well!

Christmas at Artilleriet

Just browsing through Artilleriet’s tumblr ( you can check their blog for more photos ) and I have to share these beautiful images from their Christmas table styling. I love the concept but I love even more the details, from the chairs, the tableware, the golden candlesticks to the textures of the beautiful linens spread all over the table. Perfect Christmas industrial scenery.

& Tradition Styling Sesions

Travel and accommodation was sponsored by & Tradition and Normann Copenhagen.
A few days ago I and 7 other amazing ladies from Norway were invited to Copenhagen by & Tradition and Normann Copenhagen, to visit their headquarters and showrooms. We had an amazing time and I cannot thank enough everyone involved.I just got home from travelling however so I will talk more about both days we spend there separately in other posts, but today I got in my mail the results of our styling assignment in the & Tradition Head Quarters and I knew this should be my first post!  Above you can see my styling with the Fly table in black marble, the Hoof stool in black, the Milk lamp on the left, the new True color vases on the stairs and the Cloud two Seater Sofa. Scroll below for more styling from the rest of the fine ladies I was accompanied!
Lovely Elisabeth from Elisabeth Heier blog and Edina from Nordic Leaves , styled the Fly Sofa, chair and table to perfection. I loved that they used the architecture of the showroom to their advantage, the play between the composition and depth of field make for a stunning result.
Solveig from NiB created an amazing space by using old and new elements from the & Tradition catalog. It is the only composition shot from an angle, I love how this accentuates and the Cloud Three Seater Sofa! Beautifully done Solveig!
Beautiful Nina from Stylizimo and Therese from ThereseKnutsen.no worked at the front of the house and created a dining area using the In Between Table and chairs. The steel door was used as part of the styling and I think it really adds to the perspective!
Last but not least two of my favorite ladies, Linda from Hviit and Henriette from Designlykke created one of my favorite stylings for the day using the Mayor sofa. They improvised a lot with the props  (they hanged the light from the stairs) while I could see Linda carrying the mirror from the bathrooms to bring to the shoot. If that is not creativity and quick thinking I dont know what is :) Bravo ladies!
Stay tuned for my own photos from the trip and the surprise visit to Bergen afterwards!
