Danes in Greece

Over the weekend I read about this renovated blacksmithery in Greece that serves as a second home or vacation home to three Danish architects and their families. There’s is something romantic to me about the idea of a second home, and one shared with other families who go for walks and cook dinner together. A place off the grid a bit, surrounded by water in a quiet city. The interior though is just as romantic as the lifestyle with lots and lots of wood, iron details and a respectful mixture of new and old.
“It’s important when you convert an old building to be careful not to remove the soul of what was there. If everything is renewed, it becomes too perfect,” Dorte Mandrup-Poulsen says.

Sunday Sanctuary: Concrete Jungle

Concrete and I haven’t always been friends, you see when I was young the road and driveway were responsible for countless grazed knees, sore arms and bike stacks. I’m not sure if it’s because I put the BMX away so many years ago, but somewhere along the line the painful memories have subsided and this industrial surface […]

It’s a grey and calm Saturday morning. I’m starting the day with Elle Decoration UK and a cup of tea before leaving for a stroll downtown. Filed under: HOME DECOR, INSPIRATION, PHOTOGRAPHY

Since we’re looking for a bigger apartment it’s fun to start looking for some new interior/decoration. Well, I always do anyway! But from now on I’ll pick out my favorites once a month and share them here. I have so many ideas of how we could decorate our new home but of course we have […]

Spring and summer is wonderful but there’s something special about autumn, when it gets colder and the air is fresh. Love to take long walks and afterwards go to a cafe and have a cup of hot chocolate. It’s so cozy! Ok, I have to admit the hot chocolate part is my favorit but anyways. When it comes to clothing, autumn […]

Design Letters in my Bedroom

As a lot of you know I am spending a few more weeks in Greece and thus staying in my parents home. For the time I will be staying here I had to change rooms and say goodbye to the custom beautiful build in shelves I had created (as viewed here) and move to a different room. I loved my old premises but I saw this as a wonderful opportunity for a change. I thought it would be a great way to test sleeping in new colors and since I am alone here why not create a soft feminine pastel environment? I haven’t grown tired of white but a change is always welcome! I painted the walls a beautiful dirty pastel pink and I couldn’t be happier about it! Therefore as soon as I saw this months competition in NiB I knew my new bedroom would fit right in :)
(This will be my contribution to the NiB challenge!)
Onto the decoration itself!
Today I received in my mail a package I have been so excited and couldn’t wait for it to arrive.
I think you all know how much I love the Design Letters brand ( you can follow them on Facebook and on Instagram as well for exciting news), their products appear multiple times on my blog (here or here or here or here or here , I daresay there are too many links to include) and on my Instagram (here and here and here for example). So how can I not be impatient when I know a big Design Letters package was traveling my way?
A little background on the brand, Design Letters is a Danish Design Company that has introduced first wooden letters, then porcelain cups, plates, vases teapots etc with a typography hand drawn in 1937 by the world renowned Danish Architect Arne Jacobsen.
Before I even started blogging I was feverishly trying to find where I could buy a cup like the ones I was seeing in all the Nordic blogs with my initial on. It didn’t take me long time before I found out about Design Letters and their products and they have been one of my favorites every since then.
After I came to Greece I have suffered from loss of space since I had to change rooms. My new bedroom is a little smaller than the previous one  when it comes to one of its side and for some time now I have been looking for the perfect night stand that wouldn’t take too much space. The Design Letters Table to Go fits perfectly beside my bed plus you can pick it up from its handle and transport it anywhere with ease! I can’t wait to get this back to Norway, it will look great in my living room beside the couch! Another little touch is the Television Mirror that I hang above it, perfect to get a glimpse of yourself! All in all this just became my favorite corner to sit and drink my tea in the afternoon!

Dining Chairs Conundrum

For a while now I have wanted to change our living room TV ( I have my eye on this white Samsung) but I can’t possibly warrant such a change when the current one is working flawlessly. And even more since there are other priorities like getting some dining chairs to replace our old ones.
Four Eames DSW would be amazing but I would love to mix them up with two About a Chair by Hay. It would make the whole set up more affordable and also give it a little bit more character as well. For now I can only plan from afar and miss the cozy times I spend on my sofa cuddling with a soft blanket while re-watching The Tudors.

Do you have any shows that you keep re-watching? :)

In my Bedroom

New things are making their way into my old bedroom in an attempt to make it more homey.
I had to move from my previous space so no more shelves for me! I am going to be spending some weeks here but since it’s my last long stay in Greece I am trying to enjoy it as much as I can  and having to change my accommodations doesn’t really bother me at all :)

How do you like the Muuto dots as a hanging solution next to my bed? Or the beautiful Bright Sprout pendant Nordic Tales send to me a few days ago? I love the subtle red cord it gives a bit of color that my grey white bedroom needs! It was so hard to choose between colors, the pendant is completely customization with a variety of colors for the cords and wooden bodies but that’s a story for another day , very soon I promise!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Gearing up for Winter

I am gearing up for winter. Can you tell? My living room tones turn more grey and neutral, there are blankets and sheepskins everywhere and candles to add to the evening cozy mood.
Even though it is not nearly as cold yet I can’t help myself. My latest additions in the mix are blankets and a storage round basket made of some sort of iron material all from Bohus.
Are you getting into winter mode yet or you are trying to prolong summer as much as possible?

Press Release : MUUTO

via Muuto
While travelling today I got a happy surprise in my mailbox and I couldn’t wait to land (I absolutely love Norwegian having free wi-fi on flight) to be able to share it with you as well!
The new fiber chair, designed by Iskos-Berlin for Muuto, is an all-round chair, made of a new innovative shell material of recyclable plastic and wood fibers. With an eye for detail, every line and every curve has been designed to balance maximum comfort with minimum space. With a vast palate of shell colors, premium upholstery and leather options, and four different bases, there is a Fiber Chair for any dining room, desk, conference hall, auditorium, or office.
There are also more beautiful new products as well, such as beautiful credenzas and a new table model.
Everything is designed, produced and photographed to perfection.
I am absolutely in love with them already, aren’t you?

a new rail & news

The wonderful and incredibly talented Annaleena sent us one of her rails recently and I think it was exactly what this blank wall in our kitchen needed to holding towels and brushes.
The chem glass, tin box & brush are from one of my favorites, Betong Gruvan.

As strange as this is to say, and soon after I hung this great new piece, we have decided to move! We’re in the process of selling our house but in the meantime we will be in a temporary place for about a year (hopefully less). Crazy right?!
I’m going to miss this place where my son & daughter were born, which we just bought recently and were slowly making it into a place we felt truly at home. However we have bigger dreams right now, dreams that might be taking us in a completely different direction that we need to take steps towards. As vague as that is I will have to wait and see how things unfold myself before I can share more.
Just don’t worry, I will keep updating my IG with news and you can look forward to seeing our new (very temporary) little place in the meantime.

Happy almost weekend!

My new Coffee and Chocolate maker – Tassimo Vs Nespresso

For a while now I have been toying with the idea of getting another coffee machine that I could use when I wanted something different than the coffee the Nespresso brews, while at the same time put no extra effort into it. I did a little research and I ended up leaning towards the Tassimo  mostly for its variety in chocolate and tea drinks. I bought the Tassimo T20 model since I didn’t care for the water filter and I liked that it came in white and in different other fun extra color skins!
The Tassimo has exceeded our expectations and we are very happy that we ended up getting it. I want to be clear and state that if you want a good cup of coffee and you appreciate its aroma and you want to have that experience then maybe either get the Nespresso or an actual espresso machine. If you have the time and the patience to brew your own espresso and froth your milk then by all means do just that, the Tassimo is in no way superior in making a cappuccino. If you want to mix your own chocolate, melt it, make your own caramel syrup and create an amazing 500kcal hot chocolate again you should do just that. The beauty of the Tassimo is that you can have a hot frothy chocolate that tastes just like it came out from a vendor machine with less than 90kcal a cup and in just two moves. I love those machines, I always end up circling them in hotels if they have them. My favorite is our own Freia for Tassimo, very rich and tiny bit salty. No guilt, easy and quick cup of amazing hot chocolate. A lot of people complain about the quantity, I found it just right. With the addition of the milk capsule it makes a generous cup. When it comes to the coffees again the quality of them is exactly what you would expect from a vendor machine. If you like that then you will be very happy with the Tassimo. I am already loving the Latte Caramel Macchiato and to my surprise so is my boyfriend as well! Even if you are a strict coffee loving person you can enjoy the quality Tassimo offers.
We already own a Nespresso,a great Moccamaster coffee machine and a Bodum Columbia coffee maker. Lets just say that we didn’t get the Tassimo expecting it to fill all our coffee needs. We got it because we wanted sometimes a change in what coffee we drink but without the fuss. The Tassimo does just that and we couldn’t be happier.I only wish we could get the variety the US store has!
I hope this post will be helpful to people that don’t know what to do when it comes to buying a coffee machine. As for me, I am going to make my second cup of Freia hot chocolate for the day ;)

Scenes from my Home

Things are very quiet around here and I couldn’t be happier. Tonight our plans are after an afternoon hike to return home for a movie , chocolate covered strawberries I made just an hour ago and champagne.

You don’t need it to be a special day in order to plan a nice afternoon for yourself and the people you love.
In fact, it’s these moments that make our life better.
I wish everyone has an amazing afternoon whatever you do!

It’s Monday & I’m feeling tired (surprise, surprise!) from the weekend of a little one who wouldn’t sleep and another who’s been sick. But I’m here and feeling inspired by this apartment. The bathroom, bedroom and kitchen are beautiful but it’s these quiet details that I love most.

Yvonne Koné’s new store

Nude pink, fig tree, iron and brass with worn wooden floors are the sophisticated elements that compose Yvonne’s brand new flagship store in Copenhagen. I can personally attest to the quality and beauty of her bags as I own a travel sized version of her design and it is an heirloom piece that I’ve already used multiple times. Now her store is the perfect display for her goods, with romantic colors and deep hues and a pink that’s similar to one I’ve been working with already, so I’m definitely a fan.

The space was designed by Studio Oliver Gustav, read & see more about it (including ‘before’ shots) here and if you’re in Copenhagen, won’t you see it in person for me?

ACCESSORIES ___________________________ hay

As a interior stylist/blogger I browse through every day lots of great pages on the internet and see so many good stuff that I never post about. That´s why I have started now a new label here on the blog called accessories.
The uncrowned king of accessoarier is definitely Danish hay. Although their brand is wide with a solid furniture collection, it is the little accessories that everyone can afford, that has made the brand so famous and loved among non interior interested too. In my own collection of hay I have bought the scissors, golden clips and the round mirror which I use as props to my stylist assignment.
