Squarestreet

What's the story behind Squarestreet? What ideas do the unique and elegant designs have? Well, Squarestreet is, as the name suggests, an actual street in Hong Kong's creative district, on the fringes of the CBD, where I opened my first retail boutique and subsequently also founded the eponymous watch label. My designs are, for lack of a better description, exercises in aesthetics. An attempt at marrying balance, beauty and practicality to create something truly visceral in its appeal. Bryan Maniotakis

Born in Canada with a greek heritage, Bryan is involved with design in various ways throughout his day. Whether it’s designing web and mobile apps with his studio mediumrare, talking about beautiful objects on minimalgoods, or posting daily objects for the home and office on Instagram, he tends to keep pretty active. What does minimalism mean for you? Iona Brown

We got hooked on the minimal jewellery brand Iona Brown a while ago. The designs are simple, but quite unexpected. That is exactly what caught our eyes, and what makes the designs really interested. We had a word about this with Iona Brown, the designer of her own brand. How would you describe your brand's appearance? The idea behind the brand appearance is to celebrate beautiful design that focuses on form and quality, the surprising pleasure that comes from the unexpected details that use the design process to create subtle and tactile features. This comes from the influence of the design, art and…

Melissa Araujo

We are keeping a close eye on minimal blogger and designer  Melissa Araujo lately. As a true minimal art lover - she expresses herself in her own brand - named after herself.  She displays an ability to combine structure and fluidity; and a linear quality that is clean and minimal which illustrates her vision and imagination. We had a chat with her about the new collection and her love for minimalism.   Did you study fashion (design) or are you a self-teaching designer and brand developer? I went to university for a Commerce Degree in Marketing, but once I was finished I…
