for the kids

Some things I’m dreaming of for my two kids. Buclo play modules, stars anorak for my son, Bonton bonnet for Elin, Arne Jacobsen child’s chair, striped snake toy, BC swan rug, a grey duvet, and a perfect little hamoc.

a new candle

I have loved & Other Stories since I first saw their new store online. A few weeks later I visited their Copenhagen & Stockholm stores during their grand openings. Their displays and fixtures alone were inspiring but their carefully selected product line was even more beautiful. Bottles of lotions, tables of powder, and jars of body scrubs filled an entire room. I felt like a kid in a candy store.
Finally (or what seems like finally) they have opened their first US store in NY and I grabbed myself one of their new candles in a matte porcelain jar. Actually it’s burning on my desk right now & smells so fresh, soon I’m going to need more!

CLOSET

From my bedroom corner. As you can see my closet isn’t that big. This is one of the few reasons we would need a bigger apartment. I’m dreaming of a walk in closet (who doesn’t, right?) where I could hang all my clothes by color. What a dream. In the next issue of the Swedish Interior Magazine RUM HEMMA I’ll share my […]

I I T A L A __________ annaleena + kuukuna

When I was asked to show Iitalas new lamp kuukuna at my blog, I didn’t hesitate. Partly because I grew up with Finnish design and the strong clean expression that Iitala represents, but also because Kuukuna lamp is as if created especially for my home and my style. I love the round organic form and the fact that it is handmade by a glass-blower, which gives it high quality as well as a simple and timeless design. I fell for its pleasant design, but especially its light. Kuukuna lamp glows with a unique warm shade when you turn it on.
Kuukuna was originally designed in 1986 by the master craftsman Oiva Toikka and made by expert glass blowers in Iittala’s atmospheric Finnish workshops.  And now Iittala has dug into its archives and decided to resurrect this mouth-blown glass light. Im very happy for that.

IV

Recently I’ve been on an unstoppable mission to find the perfect sculptural ceramic pottery. I think I may have found a couple pieces I like including these created by Ida Vikfors & Alexandra Nilasdotter.

Found, with thanks, via Elin Kickén.

airy table

Tables are almost becoming like chairs for me, it’s hard to have too many. Just when you get really excited about a new table another comes out seemingly better than the last. I tend to look for something I think can be a classic and keep up as micro t…

BEAUTIFUL FRIDAY

The weather has been really bad lately. So what could be better than a sunny Friday? Feels really lovely. This weekend I’m going to my home town Uppsala to spend time with family and friends. Looking forward to it! Here’s some photos from this morning. How come I never get tired of white? Is it just […]

a cozy reading nook

I’m happy to share with you another project I finished in collaboration with Target, all about getting your home ready for Fall with a modern farmhouse look.
I really wanted to keep the colors in monochrome neutrals like warm taupes, grey, ivory and brass metallic accents. Stacks of books keep it feeling organic and less rigid than housed in a bookcase and also add texture. The stacks also allow for a reading lamp, candle holder and smaller accessories.

This warm round table has a slight worn look and definitely feels like Fall to me. A pale wooden apple figure, gold edged vase, a large moss knit blanket and rope basket to hold loose papers or notes, create a highly textured space that feels easy and inviting.

our new bedroom

It’s been a month since we moved from our home. I have mixed emotions about the move, it’s a step towards some of our dreams but it’s also leaving a level of comfort that we created for ourselves. I miss the new kitchen, our white floors, the open layout but it’s good to keep looking forward.
The great thing about a move though is you get to purge, purge, purge! It feels so good to get rid of extra things and keep only what we really use and love. Even with fewer things it’s taken this month to fully unpack and if I’m being really honest, there are still 4 boxes of books sitting behind me waiting to be unpacked!

Our new (temporary) bedroom is tiny but I don’t mind it too much. Since Elin is sleeping in our room I have our bed/crib against the wall, which is the only way to fit them in while not feeling suffocated. It’s just a bit funny to me though, the last time my bed was in a corner like this I was a teenager and loathed making my bed.

Some of my favorites things are this wooden coat hanger from Christina Liljenberg Halstrøm, deep blue linen blanket, Muuto Visu chair that doubles as a side table and a stack of my favorite Danish interior magazine Rum.

need

Fall weather has finally shown up and the best part of Autumn are the clothes! Obviously. Nothing looks better or feels better to wear than draped, generous layers in new materials. I fully embrace jeans & jacket weather so this really is the time of year I anticipate the most. Summer is alright but give me sweater weather and I’m a happy girl!
The new things from this lookbook and these Studio Nicholson coats , cropped trousers, and this perfect short sleeved jacket are all so perfectly minimal and refined. Can I say I want them all? Looks like I just did.

moroccan rugs

Major love for this shop, full of incredible, colorful Beni Ourain rugs.

ACCESSORIES ___________________________ hay

As a interior stylist/blogger I browse through every day lots of great pages on the internet and see so many good stuff that I never post about. That´s why I have started now a new label here on the blog called accessories.
The uncrowned king of accessoarier is definitely Danish hay. Although their brand is wide with a solid furniture collection, it is the little accessories that everyone can afford, that has made the brand so famous and loved among non interior interested too. In my own collection of hay I have bought the scissors, golden clips and the round mirror which I use as props to my stylist assignment.
