Curated by Traumnovelle and Roxane Le Grelle, the simple installation called Eurotopie is designed to provoke discussion about the role of Belgian capital Brussels as the host of the European Union (EU).
The round, tiered seating takes over the interior of the pavilion, creating a space akin to the agoras of Ancient Greece. It is coloured in a vibrant shade of blue, matching the tone of the European Union flag.
The pavilion will be activated by a programme of events taking place throughout the biennale. The curators expect it to become “a great space for discussion, debate and commitment, which appears to be lacking in the European sphere”.
