DENIM AND DOCS

Been pretending it’s fall in LA and miiiight be trying to layer already. I should name this post “when your boyfriend is your style ‘spo.” He’s been rocking docs recently so I decided I was going to try a pair as well. Although the chunkiness takes som…

snow rama in the city

Although getting here turned out to be a massive delayed nightmare yesterday, WE MADE IT. Hellooooo NY. A little late to the fashion week party but I was able to make it to the last few shows/parties of the season and have a week full of meetings ahead. I brought a cashmere blanket from restoration hardware for the flight and have ended up wearing it as a scarf since we landed shhhhh. Also gonna give away another secret…this oversized green jacket is actually mens. Not sorry bc it’s cozy af and I can fit hella layers under it. Will be making an effort to shoot everyday (key word effort) while I’m here so keep your eyes peeled for more updates! ALSO I’ve been posting tons of stuff on snapchat (username: rimarama) in case you want to follow me through the week ;)

sparkly alley cat

Annnnd just like that we’re back to 75 & sunny in LA. RIP winter, I guess I’ll start shaving my legs again. In case you couldn’t tell…I’m still really into this embellished mini skirt I bought at Club Monaco last November. It’s seriously turned out to be one of my best purchases of 2015. Since the holidays are over (obvi) I wanted to breathe new lift into wearing sparkly shit IRL. Cut off sweatshirt + vintage satin bomber + ankle booties? Violá! Take any everyday-casual outfit and swap jeans for that embellished skirt you spent way too much money for the holidays. I promise it’ll look hella cool girl, do you agree??

kitten eye & overalls

So I know the whole overalls trend has come and pretty much gone BUT these are awesome so yolo, AMIRITE? I never go into the trend before because no one made a skinny jean version and I felt like baggy overalls were dumpy pre-school vibes. Violá! Madewell (of course) came up with the cool girl alternative. Dress up your overalls with a low bun and kitten eye (click through for makeup artists tips!!)  Layer a cozy cardigan over a cropped tank and pair with ankle booties and ruffle edged ankle socks to pull the look together. Dare I say this look is even date-night appropriate? Yup. #overallsFTW

Q: Tricks for doing a mini flick aka kitten eye?

A: The kitten eye is my new favorite cat eye interpretation. The key is lining the upper water line (or tightlining) before starting the flick.

Q: Gel liner vs liquid pen. What do you prefer to use?
A: As a makeup artist I don’t use a liner pen in my kit, but in my personal makeup bag I’m all about it. There’s pros and cons to both, it’s just about finding what works for you.

Q: I have almond shaped eyes so when I try to do this on myself I either look like Cleopatra or super squinty. Is there a trick for knowing what angle to draw the line??
A: Always always always draw the flick with your eye open. That way you’re not surprised when you open your eye and it’s making your eyes looks droopy or squinty

golden

I’ve recently become extremely uninspired by the carbon copies bloggers seem to have become. I feel like everyone I follow on instagram posts exactly the same. Fucking. Things. So I’m trying something new. One studio shoot per month with a kick ass team. Fully styled looks and an editorial feel. Posting with purpose and steering clear of my former super minimal aesthetic that has since consumed the internet. I mean…I have been doing the whole white wall thing for 4 years now, just sayin. I still love basics, denim, black and white and will for sure stick to those…just elevating my content and giving it my own twist. Quality over quantity. No posting just to post. As someone who calls themselves a creative director…it’s time to give my content vision. Annnnnd action. Look one for this month: tackling how to repurpose that skinny neck tie you bought from zara and ended up wearing once for an instagram selfie.  (Shhhh wasn’t me.) Violá, use it as a belt to add just a hint of girly flair to an otherwise tomboy look. I love this pullover from Aritzia as it has that super soft fleece on the inside. I will literally wear this for a week straight (doubles as a pj top) not kidding. Although I’m not the biggest fan of the mom jean trend (weird saggy butt and camel toe action…no thanks) these fit like a glove if you buy them a size down.  What do you think of this look and new style of photos? What would YOU like to see me shoot??

starry eyed and wine stained

Wine mouth seems like it’d be embarrassing and avoided at all costs, amiright?? Alas it’s quickly become a go-to holiday beauty look poppin up all over blahgs, instagram, pinterest, tumblr and the rest of the interwebs. For the second to last #ramaholiday look (ummm I can’t believe December is over what??) Crystal showed me how to embrace wine stained lips and gave me cool girl hair to match. I’m a big believer in keeping things simple when it comes to dressing, so what better NYE dress alternative than a chic little romper?! If you haven’t realized it yet…I’m obsessed with stars printed on everything so this crepe one piece is a winner. Unfortunately I waited to post these photos too long so it’s sold out everywhere :( BUT I included some cute alternatives at the end of the post.  Since it’s actually chilly in LA now, bare legs are an evening no-go unless you want to be THAT girl shivering in the corner of the party. I paired unexpected sheer dot tights with my trusty (and surprisingly comfy) Saint Laurent ankle boots for a NYE party look that’ll keep me dancing and having fun without worrying about any wardrobe malfunctions or high heel discomfort. Click through to see more pics and tips on how to recreate this beauty look on your own!

Q: Wine stained lips..how do you do it??!
A: Start with a balm like Glossier Balm Dotcom then take Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip and apply it to the center of the lip. That’s where the product should be most concentrated and just blend out!
Q: What are your favorite dark lip stains/lipsticks right this second?

Q: This super messy half up bun is perfect (!!!) and doesn’t look like I’m replicating every chicks summer insta posts. Tips?
A: The key is the placement of the bun. A lot of people place it right on top of the head. I prefer it low, even below the occipital bone. It’s much more effortless that way.

street sparkle

My favorite winter combo? Oversized knit with a fun little mini skirt. Add sheer black tights for perceived warmth. The perfect LA winter look…about 3 points for warmth but 1000000 for hella cool girl vibes. Not gonna lie, I got a little chilly shooting this look in NYC’s 50 degrees so maybe not the look if you freeze easily. I personally like my legs and am more self conscious of my waist/stomach so I’ve always been a fan of pairing oversized on top with a straight mini skirt. It’s a great way to de-girly a skirt and show off some leg. Anyone can pull off a sweater and jeans…a sweater and party skirt? Unicorn-rare. Now you can buy all the sparkly NYE party options you want with an ootd idea to take them into the daylight. I’m all about versatility and taking typical “night” pieces and making them wearable. Layers, people.

leather on leather on leather in new york city

Last month I was able to spend a few weeks in my favorite city and escape the LA heat. I was beyond excited to be able to layer and actually wear leather during the day. What better to pair leather pants with than a simple white tee and more leather? I felt a little over the top at first but felt all kinds of 007 cool after walking around. I actually ended up wearing the same exact outfit to the airport the following day. Nothing better than super soft leather, that looks chic and is low key comfy AF. thankful for sweater weather

It looks like Thanksgiving brought the sweater weather to LA. FINALLY. Best way to wear a chunky oversized knit? Minimal effort: messy topknot, boyfriend jeans & literally the comfiest sneakers. I love how wearing a chic colored turtleneck instantly elevates an otherwise ridiculously casual outfit. The creamy color lends itself perfectly for day to night dressing. I mean…throw it over leather leggings with some ankle booties and you’re ready for a dinner/movie date.  Click through to see more pics and also to shop my favorite under $100 sweaters. Because ain’t nobody got time for expensive sweaters when your flight home for the holidays is pushing a grand. Ayyyyoooo.

J Brand leather 4 date night

As you’ve probably seen on my instagram, I recently partnered with J Brand Jeans & Bumble App to show how I rock leather for date night. If you’ve been following me for an extended period of time, you know I’m a leather & denim fiend so this collab was the perfect match. Pun intended. Obviously I styled their awesome leather leggings in bad a**, all black fashion for super boss b*tch vibes because  bumble let’s the GIRL be the boss. soho wanderings #FWRAMA

In case you haven’t been following along on instagram…I’m in NYC for fashion week! Been loving the chilly, snowy weather as a quick break from the California sun. (Yes, I realize that makes me sound like a crazy person.) Been running around in this new Nikki Chasin coat. Also, I’m almost 100% positive I’ve worn a hat everyday, which has proven a bit of a challenge with the wind but all in the name of FASHUN. wool on wool on bare legs

I will always choose a pair of destroyed skinny jeans over a skirt anyday but hey, what better time to try new things than the start of a new year?? Loving this little grid mini from top shop paired with a super oversized sweater to balance out the bare legs. Added my bad b*tch boots because I think I’m  real baaaaad. prep school

This rainy, overcast weather is making me lazy and unmotivated to dress myself in anything but massive sweaters, running tights and wool socks. Forced myself to throw a little somethin somethin together, while still maintaining most of the comfort level. This pullover sweatshirt looks less home-y and more private school kid, when layered over a little collared shirt. I love these ripped knee skinnies and think they’re the perfect contrast to the preppy top action. That, and I also just really really love these jeans. #realtalk What’s your favorite way to wear a pullover, without looking like a bum?Rima Vaidila wearingCitizens of Humanity “Camryn” Sweatshirt (available in grey here)Brandy Melville Collared ShirtPaige Denim Skinnies (previously here)Diesel Suede Ankle BootiesPhotos by Nicholas MaggioJavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Wow. An all black look? How weird! Kidding. Not weird at all. I’m fully embracing my inner goth chick with the beautiful overcast weather this week. This weekend I paired my new Black Orchid Denim destroyed skinnies with a comfy wool knit and sneakers. Added my new Larsson & Jennings watch for a pop of gold blaaaang. Comfy but chic. Now excuse me while I try to undo the past four days with a Pressed Juicery cleanse. #FUN

Being as I’m currently freezing my a** off in Montreal, here’s a winter-appropriate outfit. And before you say anything, yes, I have been wearing this sweater everyday as promised. Here I paired my oversized turtleneck with leather leggings and black leather converse. I know, I know. So. Much. Black. Whatevs, #goth4everrrrrrr

fallllllllll

So I’m kind of really excited that last nights rain brought fall weather. Hell. Yes. Minorly obsessed with this amazing oversized turtleneck. Paired it over a little skirt and pretended I was girly. Weirdly enough, I liked it. Heeled boots with ruffle socks too?? Full on girly vibes. What can I say. Give me enough pumpkin spice lattes and this shit happens.

I feel this look is very appropriate as I’m in San Francisco for the next few days. I love the combo of black & blue with my new favorite pattern, plaid. I paired this oversized turtleneck sweater with leather looking denim and this bomb dot com new coat. Excuse me while I wear variations of this outfit for the next two months.

no parking

So I may have worn this sweater everyday this past week. I mean… the weather is finally appropriate. Usually been pairing my sweaters with skinnies but this new striped tank dress just became my new favorite base layer. Stripes & knits? Could wear this sh*t every damn day. Made sure to slip on my bad b*tch boots to tone down any j crew vibes. Oh, and don’t judge my lazy, dirty-girl hair. It’s the weekend, ok?!?!

dramatics

Yes. I’ve committed to dressing like it’s sweater weather, even though it still feels like summer. People give me weird looks but it’s cool because this super rad knit dress by Somedays Lovin’s is the key. A turtleneck sweater dress with a breezy neck cutout so I don’t sweat your makeup off while being a stubborn blogger? Genius. Oh and hey! It also works perfect for actual winter weather (brrr 50 degrees in LA lol) with a big infinity scarf layered on top & sheer tights. Seriously California, it’s October. Get your weather act together already. Please?

Does this sweater make me look like a muppet? Probably. Soups into it though. It’s like you’re literally wearing a cuddle. Paired with a cool pair of croc brogues and played in the street. Lots of goofy faces in this post. Hard to be serious when wearing such a fun sweater err dress(?!) Let the #nopantsparty continue.

praying for sweater weather

This past weekend I took full advantage of the cooler Santa Monica breezes and was able to run around in this super comfy sweater, sans-pants obvi. Unfortunately, I may have jumped the “sweater weather” gun looking at this coming weekend’s weather report (90’s?? Seriously?!??!!?) I feel like a mean elementary school kid but honestly…can you just go away now summer? No one likes you anymore.
