How to set a minimal autumn table with Pillivuyt

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Pillivuyt.

Fall for me doesn’t only signify the beginning of the cold season but also the start of the wonderful gatherings season, I am always so much looking forward to dinners with friends indoors and plans for fun nights have already begun. One of the most fun part of hosting a dinner is setting up the table and today I would love to share some tips with you on how to style a minimal Autumn table. The elegant Pillivuyt Plissé line fits perfectly with the design I have in mind and in this case I chose to make it the center of the table setting. Read below for tips on how to recreate my Fall Autumn Table setting!

1. Often the most difficult decision when beginning a design plan is choosing the color palette. I almost always end up choosing white when it comes to tableware because they are easy to style and they will match and complement any styling, no matter how traditional, minimal or whimsical.
2. Table runners and linen tablecloths will define the placement of the table, however if you have a beautiful table , there is no reason to hide it under cloths. If anything I find a minimal table setting will look even more beautiful on a wooden surface, plus it is so much easier to handle spills! Place linen white napkins however in between plates to give a warm and inviting feeling.

3. Even a minimal composition has need for rules and structure, adding a big centrepiece will help define the placement of the tableware but be careful that it does not distract from the design plan. I suggest using a big glass vase that not only will make a statement but its transparency will make it light and it will not obstruct the view.
4. Flowers are a favorite of mine, for my minimal design plan I chose a few simple stems in mustard color (so very autumnal)  and arranged them in my big vase. If you wish you can also add one stem on every plate for each guest, or add something else that represents fall for you. I filled the top bowls of my table design with chestnuts instead, this way I am bringing a little bit of nature on the table without overwhelming it.

5. Do you have a small table like me? Then do as I did and keep all extra plates that you are going to use or cups or saucers next to the table on a shelf in an open composition. This way the setting feels more intimate and it is easier to change the setting after dinner is finished. I always keep the coffee set close by, Norwegians love having coffee after dinner and it is so much easier to set the new table after eating.  Pillivuyt Plissé line is so beautiful , like my table I do not like hiding it!
As a final note, Norwegians drink a lot of coffee, and I am always setting up the table with a full coffee set after dinner. But regardless if you have this tradition, a full set of coffee cups and mugs is always welcomed, whether you are serving coffee after eating, or just enjoying it in a rainy afternoon by the window. You can find more photos (including a full setting for coffee) and a stop movie of how I prepared my table at Pillivuyt today!

Simple Scandinavian Living Room Styling

Sponsored post in collaboration with Nest.co.uk
I had a little time this weekend and I finally styled my own living room a little bit, so before I start sharing photos from my trips last month I thought I would show you how the room looks like right now after a few recent additions!

Starting off with the biggest one although I recently showed it off as I assembled it on my instagram , the Menu Stick system in white. I needed a shelf system and I couldn’t decide if it should be mounted on the wall or free on the floor, but I found the Menu one on a great sale in a shop in Oslo which made my decision pretty easy. And if after a few months I need a little bit of change I can always sell it and buy something else, recycling interior pieces is something I firmly believe in, I much prefer buying something that has value that I can later sell and get something else, then start over again when I need a change.
Another two additions in the room are the Kizu Lamp from New Works and the Hay Slit table in Mirror, both of which I was lucky to have delivered on my door by Nest , one of the stores in UK that I recommend heartily to my readers from UK (and the rest of the Europe) for their great selection of brands that are on the forefront of interior design last few years. I have talked about a lot with the owners as well and we both share the same values when it comes to furniture recycling, and not only. Recently we were discussing the concept of Lagom, exactly because we both love simplicity, roughly translated from Swedish as ‘appropriately in balance’ or simply ‘Just right’.

Lagom is not an interior ‘trend’ but rather a way of living in balance, of having just the right amount of anything you need. I wrote a piece for Nest about our discussions and my thoughts on the subject that was published on their web blog , if you want to read more about Lagom and life in balance through my eyes you can find it here

Finally, when it comes to my living room , some details really set the mood and their are very easy to apply. A rather bulky plant will cover an awkward space and make the transition from a piece of furniture to a corner seamlessly (I bought my Fiddle fig tree from the flower market a week ago although I only potted it in a simple terracotta pot yesterday ) , while a simple poster on the wall will give a polished finished look. My poster is a limited edition art concept from  Therese Sennerholt ( one of Swedens most famous and most talented Art Directors) called Full Moon Doodle in grey.

I have used my Kizu lamp on one of the windowsills in my living room, but I think it will look just as nice on the Menu shelves, while the round Hay table I am temporarily using as my main table but in the future it will either be a side table or a night stand ( on my Bedroom sneak peek post I used the brass version I got temporarily from Nest, I loved it as a solution!).

For now I will leave this space as is, but I am adding some new things as October goes by, plus painting the walls, I love changes and I need warmer colors on the walls for the winter!

Styling Windowsills

One of the things that were very high in my check list when I was looking for an apartment was high ceilings and big windows with deep windowsills. I ruled out beautiful apartments because the sills in the windows were small, it has been a struggle to find just the right space but now that I did I feel it was well worth the effort. My windowsills are big and beautiful and create the perfect spot for either an impromptu workspace or more commonly, a lamp or two, candles, books etc. Since my apartment is still quite empty, they are a lifesaver, although I dont mind just having things on the floor on stacks of magazines either. My house, my rules ;) Some of my favorites as of late, the Standard Bordelampe from Menu (it looks amazing when lit at night as well well), Ferm Living marble candleholders (they are minimal and make a statement without taking too much space) and latest magazines and kinto cups (my windowsills also work as a side table for now). There are so many ways you can take advantage of big windows and their sills, I am really looking forward to finding new opportunities this winter , not just for photos, but I have to say, I love how they look everytime I turn around or walk in the room.

Hello from Oslo!

This weekend I packed everything my car could fit and drove to Oslo, this time however to stay! I finally found the most beautiful apartment a few weeks ago and from now, you can find me locally in Grünerløkka, hooray!  It is still quite empty since I brought only a few things, but thankfully the previous owner left me their couch to use until I get my own. I am also sleeping on it since I dont have a bed yet, while my duvets and pillows just arrived with the post today!  Did I mention I only have one pair of sheets and a blanket? I feel like a student again and I love it. I wanted a fresh start so I only brought with me a few select things and clothes, but now realize I might have gone too far with my minimalist plan. There are many things that will come by mail as I ordered them before I left, but they could take a few days to be here so for now, the apartment will be without plates or even cutlery for example. I should be ok, after all , sushi only needs a set of chopsticks right? The plan for the next few days is, get a table for the kitchen and a bed, while I ll need several trips to the super market to stock up on necessities. For now I am happy to set up my office on the couch, the windowsills work as side tables perfectly ;) I will be posting more updates on the blog as I settle in, but if you want sneak peeks and live updates of the apartment, just jump over my instagram and stories, for candid moments and moving tips ;)

Calm moments in the living room

I have been back from Zurich a couple of days now and I am especially enjoying sitting in the living room. Some new books, some new items , spring feeling and some rays of sun, everything makes for an atmosphere that I especially enjoy being apart of,  so this is where I can be found with my macbook working the week away. I needed some rest from travelling I think, because I have hardly ventured out of the house other than to shop and visit family. It feels good to be able to relax with a cup of tea and finally focus on everything that needed my attention, in fact I have gotten more work done this week than any other, right at this spot. The next few days are filled with photoshoots and stylings, I really can’t wait to show you some of the things I have been working on but also a new and exciting project I have just started creating! But before I go, happy 17th of May Norway! Gratulerer med dagen !

Signs of Spring in the Living room

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos. All opinions are my own.
Even though spring is far away for now, especially in Scandinavia, I think after Christmas holidays are over, we all long for warmer weather and the first signs of green. A good tip for those that cannot wait is to start introducing more greens in the house, add textiles that remind of Spring in light colors, new cushion covers or even a light colored carpet. In collaboration with Ellos Home I styled my living room with some fabrics and some greens to serve as an example for anyone that wants to bring some Spring feelings in their house, do read on for more details and tips!

One of the first things I did was to get some extra linen pillowcases. My sofa is getting really old now and I don’t like how it looks, but with new pillowcases and a throw or two it looks as good as new! I decided to also add a carpet underneath so it can provide with some definition of the area. I really like how it softens the dark color of the floorboards, but also it makes for a great place to sit on since it is so soft and cozy.
When it comes to greens, my tip would be to choose plants that look great on the floor. My Monstera Deliciosa is big enough now to stand on its own but I decided to put some magazines under to give it a little bit more visibility. A simple Pilea Peperomioides is all I need for my table (which is filled with magazines and books), but if I had the luxury of fresh flowers I think a vase would also look quite nice and fit perfectly.

All products I used can be found at Ellos Home :

The softest throw from Himla in Gråblå color –  Pledd Hannelin i vasket hellin 130×170 cm
Linen pillows from Himla various colors –  Pute Hannelin 50×50
Fluffy cozy carpet from Ellos Home –  Ryeteppe Tanger 160×230 cm

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
I am also thinking some new curtains could complete the look, if you are missing curtains as well Ellos offers 25% off to all of their curtain selection!

Nordmann fir : Christmas tree tradition that will grow with you

It is almost Christmas (how did the year fly by so quickly?) and our tree is ready in its little corner. I decorated a cedar tree for early  Christmas ( more photos here ) , and I really liked the result for an understated holiday decoration, however we also bought a Nordmann fir of about 1m tall as our main Christmas tree. The idea is that it will grow with us as years go by and be our tree for all future holidays. I think it is a great idea for couples that are looking at creating their own Christmas traditions, and for us this is the one!  After all it is used to cold and snow so after New years we can leave it outside to decorate our veranda until next time. In order to make it look a little taller we put it on top of the low cupboards in the corner and surrounded it with gifts and minimal christmas decorations. A handmade felt Santa, some walnuts and a brass wreath all create a nice festive but also minimal mood, perfect for this year. Our tree ornaments are porcelain balls and bells in white, from Lyngby Porcelain, brass and porcelain ornaments from Stelton and some glass balls I found at Illums Bolighus (I cannot remember the producer but I am sure if you stop by Illums you can find them still!). With this and that we are almost ready for another Christmas Eve tomorrow, I wish Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!

Winter Living Room Makeover

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos. All opinions are my own.
With the first snow falling, winter is officially here so I decided it was time for a living room makeover. Currently I love the feel of linens and marble combined with oak so I gravitated towards getting a few select pieces that would update my space without crowding it. All the additions are from Ellos, so they are very easy to find if you wish to easily replicate the look. Scroll down for tips and how I am using what I chose as seen above!

A while ago I mentioned I wanted to replace my sofa table (the previous can be seen here and usually appears in 2105 living room posts), and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. I chose the Sofabord Axx Stort , 75cm rectangular shape ,black metal frame with white marble top. I preferred it to be square and while usually most of similar style marble tables are 60cm wide, the one I chose is quite larger in both sides and it fits my big couch and my needs better. The marble top is quite beautiful  and everything seems to fit on top of it quite elegantly now.
Another tip when it comes to quick and budgeted makeovers is hidden in fabrics. From pillows, to throws or a carpet, you can change the look of a space in a matter of seconds without investing in any new furniture at all. Here I chose two linen blankets, one to serve as a throw ( Pledd Lilah) while the other ( Himla Pledd Levilin in silver grey color) to serve as a delicate carpet under the new table. In addition a simple belly basket can hold quite a lot of those extra blankets!

With the floor draped in blankets it is easier than ever to even sit down for a coffee and a magazine, something I have been indulging myself with a lot lately! I love the feel and look of linens to the point that I have slowly replaced all my blankets sheets and towels almost with them.

Posters are also an easy way to diversify the look of a plain wall (also easy solution is adding some wall lamps). I love graphic architectural drawings ( I can never escape my own profession) and the French poster Hotel des Ventes fit perfectly with my plans.

And there you have it! In 1-2-3 easy steps I overhauled my living room without committing to a renovation. Below you can find the links from Ellos for everything I mentioned above, if you wish to recreate my look or get something new for your own space. Next in line for a makeover is the bedroom , keep an eye for that post very soon!

And Tradition In Between Chairs for the Dining table

//Photos by Katerina Dima
I think from my posts lately it was plainly obvious I have had the And Tradition In Between Chairs on my to-buy list for some time now. A few weeks ago I finally splurged on 4 of them for my dining table. I was planning a nice post about them, however the post office only delivered two of them, so my plans for an extended post will be a little delayed. I did however snap some quick shots with one of the chairs, the evening light fell so beautifully on them I just couldn’t resist. The chairs come in 4 different color variations with the option to be upholstered as well. I got mine in white oiled no upholstery, I thought they would be easier to maintain in their original condition. They are very comfortable to sit on, and besides, if I need a softer seating I can always drape some of my sheepskins on them.  And Tradition is one of my favorite brands, you can find the chairs and many more designs at Mitthjem online store, one of my favorite stores to shop. If you want to take advantage of the campaign that is running for a while now, you can get the in Between chairs, and other products, on a great discount as well. I have already put an order in for a Flowerpot lamp in soft grey color and some other things, I will share them as soon as they arrive!

Paris ready

I am already making preparations for my trip to Paris in September even though next week I’m travelling to Stockholm for the Formex fair (with a few in between trips to Oslo). However there are some places in Paris I simply don’t want to miss so I thought it is best to go prepared. Nothing says I love Paris more than a t-shirt and a poster so I brought out my Paris map poster to look at until its time to pack my suitcases, while I am wearing my I love Paris t-shirt behind the scenes.

Moments with Stelton : Enjoying an afternoon coffee with friends or alone

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Stelton. All opinions are my own.
There are moments you want to share with friends and moments you enjoy alone. For the midsummer afternoon coffee I prepared the table with a variety of warm tea and coffee, milk on the side, fruits and dessert, and added flowers to brighten the mood since it has been raining non stop for all week. With the temperature a little lower, everyone is sure to enjoy warm coffee and tea, and the new lavender color of the Stelton EM77 vaccum jug fitted perfectly with the fresh peonies on the table and the mood I wanted to convey. I brought the electric kettle straight from the kitchen so it would be easier to poor hot water for our teas, the sleek design blends perfectly with the table styling. All in all, it was a beautiful afternoon and the rain didn’t bother us at all!
When not with friends however I enjoy my moments alone just as well. With a full EM77 with coffee or chocolate, some chocolate bonbons on the side, I can spend countless afternoons either perusing magazines or working late. I find tending to small details always lifts up my mood, so when I discovered the new Peak brass bonbonniere from Stelton I was more than happy to fill it upwith bonbons and make it a permanent addition on my coffee table.

For more Stelton moments with the EM77 vacuum jug, the peak bonbonniere, the Emma electric kettle and the Emma tableware, feel free to check Stelton instagram account at Stelton Design.

Living room TV area sneak peak

While I am busy trying to fix my balcony (tic toc summer is not going to wait forever), I also decided that the TV area needed some love as well. I got a Bestå system from IKEA and the arrangement already looks much better than before. The Bestå systems are used quite a lot, especially from bloggers but I do not see why not invest into something basic that looks good and is on a good budget. Add a rug in front of it soon, maybe dress it up (I am thinking Superfront), hang the TV on the wall, put up a poster and some plants and you just gave your TV corner a much needed lift. Let me finish it and I will take some photos of the final result to share with everyone. If you are wondering how this used to look like, if you check  here or here then you will get an idea. I didn’t use to photograph this side of the room a lot since I just didn’t really love how it looked like. While the big trunk looked great, it just didn’t fit the arrangement, believe me I have tried to make it work for a long time without success. TO be fair it is not the trunk that was problematic, it is mostly the floor and the walls I have a problem with, both of which are out of my budget to fix right now. I resorted to buying the Bestå cabinets and I already think it has made a huge difference for such a small investment, I highly recommend it. Not to mention the storage room that it provides is a lifesaver, especially when you have as many props as myself!

Flower bouquets on a budget

Some flowers I picked up from the garden the other day. It wasn’t my intention to take any photos of them for the blog but they looked so delicate and beautiful even when laying on the table before I arranged them. Spring came out of nowhere in Norway, and we have all been enjoying the amazing weather, the sun and the summelike feel. Going on a walk outside to pick fresh wildflowers if you are close to nature is also a great way of decorating the house on a budget. And don’t stop on the flowers only, twigs and brunches also make for great centerpieces as well as in vases.

Quiet coziness in the living room

I have been so busy lately with my blog ,peaceful moments are all the more appreciated now. When I get some time to myself I try to relax away from the office desk, with warm lemon water, even though I still might bring my Macbook or iPad with me.Checking my favorite blogs or reading an eBook is my favorite past time. A scented candle for a more relaxed atmosphere and an Aesop or Meraki hand cream for my hands that are by nature really rough, sets the mood for me. A good tip is to get a soft yet firm footstool and put your feet up while siting on the couch. It really makes a difference!

By Lassen News in my Living Room

// Sponsored post in collaboration with byLassen. All opinions are my own.

I have have had the By Lassen Frames (mine in light and dark grey color) for some time now, and I have wanted to make a post about them for a while. However I decided to paint a wall black and hang them there, and although the result in real life is great, unfortunately it just doesn’t photograph well at all. The wall is covered with a wallpaper that I painted over but it has a texture that reflects the light in the most unfaltering way when it comes to shooting it. You can see a preview on my instagram here, I love how this corner looks but I will need to remove the old wallpaper, and start over again. If you were wondering why until now I never revealed this project, now you know what happened.
It is a shame not to officially introduce them however, so until I remade their proper corner I moved some of them next to my couch for extra storage and some downstairs as bedside tables. They looked so great however that I decided to leave them there and instead invest in a Twin Bookcase , I think it will fit perfectly. But if I am painting the wall again, I have in mind an amazing blue that might be an ever better spring and summer choice. If you have any ideas feel free to share them in the comment section below!

Winter Cozyness from Type Hype, with love from Berlin

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with Type Hype Berlin. All opinions are my own.

A few weeks ago I introduced a collaboration with Type Hype on my Instagram , under the hashtag #typehypestories . Today you can see the whole collection and some extra ones I kept for this blogpost. The theme for my photos was Winter Cosyness, and with all the snow and cold that occurred during January and this month, I felt it was aptly chosen. I loved the pillows spelling the word COZY, and I cannot really have enough notebooks and designer gift tags. You will see some of their posters as well around my house in the future (some I have already posted on my instagram), it is really a store with many products that fit perfectly with my love for typography. If you want to read more about it I wrote earlier about it in this post, so feel free to take a look for more of their carefully curated collection.

Kubus4 Black byLassen

One of my all time favorites when it comes to candleholders is the Kubus4 in black from ByLassen. Its classic profile fits my minimalistic interior perfectly while the light it emits is soft yet bright, it fills the house during winter afternoons and nights. I bought mine when I was at CPH airport at the duty free section, and it was the very first byLassen piece I have ever owned. Now with the release of the brass line for candleholders and bowls I am wondering if the fact that I am going to be at CPH airport in a few days again is such a coincidence? :)

By Lassen Kubus line

Photos and Styling by : Katerina Dima

By Lassen is one of the brands that Scandinavian people cant get enough of and for good reason. Some of my favourite pieces from by Lassen come from the Kubus series.  The beautiful and sleek candleholders (Kubus4 in black as seen above) and the Kubus bowl (in grey size small on my table) make for a perfect pair and you will often see them paired together in my home. Since winter is right around the corner , the days have become so much shorter and candles are a must in our house. Not just for the extra light but for the cozy feeling they give out! The Kubus4 is perfect since it holds 4 long candles and it is also so easy to move! Secretly I cant wait till the bedroom is done and I can prop it near the bed for those extra cuddly nights around the holidays!

Winter is just around the corner..

Photos and styling by : Katerina Dima

Some photos and stills from my house. I love this time of year, summer ends and winter is just around the corner. So many ideas for this winter but for now I am looking back and keeping notes of what I would love to add to the house and what just clutters my space. I am thinking of adding shelves to the living room and above the office desk, I think for now it is the perfect solution for adding space without creating too much distractions to the eye. I would also love to change the floors but for now the ones I have will have to do. Maybe a project for later? :)

Mapiful News

A lot of you have been asking me about the city posters I have been using lately in my home. They are from Mapiful and I have great news to share with you! You can now use the code “Onlydecolove”  for a 10% off your purchase. You can create any city map you like, while you can customize it to portrait as I have above or landscape. You can also choose where to place the text or how it will look like! I have chosen the default version for both, I found the initial design fitted better with my space!

Summer Cold Days with Urbanara

It has been a very cold summer in Norway so far. I got quite a lot of sun and a tan when I visited Greece a couple of weeks ago so I don’t  mind as much and on the bright side,I get to enjoy all my new blankets that I got on a discount during spring!  Urbanara send me just a couple of days ago a beautiful 100% wool blanket  that fits the occasion just perfectly. I have been using it everyday to keep myself warm, along with tea, hot chocolate and warm socks while browsing their online store. Urbanara, besides their beautiful blankets and throws, has also a great selection of other homeware. I love their kitchen linen dishclothes, their natural cutting boards, their porcelain tableware (how amazing is this porcelain cup?). I could see so many pieces of their online online collection in my own home or as gifts for loved ones!

Our Lounge Chairs by Conform

A lot of people are asking me where I got my two lounge chairs so a post about them was long due. We found our lounge chairs at Conform. Conform is a Swedish company with a wide range of beautiful chairs with Scandinavian design on focus. Their timeless pieces are all designed by architects and designers with each individual model always consisting of equal levels of comfort and design. Indeed I can attest that the lounge chairs we purchased almost two years ago show now sign of wear or tear and they are so comfortable we often find ourselves sleeping on them. We use them for quite a few hours every single day as we sit on them while we work at our home office while they also double as extra seats in the living room.
Our lounge chairs come from the Time-Out series. They are fully customizable from the fabric to the wooden base and the type of legs. You can even choose different types of legs or different heights. You may add a footstool to match your chair as well.Every chair is created uniquely for each customer however you can replicate ours perfectly if you so wish!  The cover is from the fabric line “Runner” and the color is “Light Beige”. The wooden base is walnut lacquered, the legs are swivel aluminium with return memory normal height. When we were customizing ours there was no option for a complete white model something that was added later on, doesn’t that look great as well? Maybe you prefer a lounge chair that its cover is made of scandinavian sheepskin? There are so many choices and so many models to choose from. Don’t just take my word for their quality and their confort, find a reseller close to you and try them out yourselves! You can find many retailers in different countries but if you wish you can also contact Conform directly by phone or mail found on their contact page and ask them for a certified store close to you.

Only Deco Loves : Eva Solo

I am a big fan of the Danish brand Eva Solo and their distinct line of accessories and kitchenware. One of my all time favorites their Big Tea Teapot and their Lungo and Cafe Latte tumblers are sitting beautifully on my sofa table ready to serve us fresh brewed tea. I am in love with the teapot and it’s characteristic grey knitted cozy that not only looks stylish but also keeps the temperature of the contents warm so we can enjoy them longer. Last few days the weather treated us with some last bits of snow, and I couldn’t be happier sitting inside enjoying a warm cup of tea. Even looking at the teapot is enough to make me feel warmer. The tumblers themselves are made of porcelain coated with a silicone layer for better grip. For those spending a lot of hours typing and know how cold your hands can get, these beautiful cups will also help keeping your hands warm. The silicon layer not only helps insulate the contents of the mug but also evens out the outside temperature and makes holding the tumbler truly a delight for cold fingers. The color of my tumblers is Elephant grey, and if you follow the blog for even a little while you know how much I love muted tones and this grey is perfect!

Eva Solo creates exclusive, Danish-designed furnishing accessories and kitchenware characterized by aesthetic appeal, functionality and high quality. Truly beautiful tools which are a pleasure to look at, use and own. Eva Solo imparts exclusive Danish design to everyday objects in the home. Simplicity, distinct lines and a high degree of functionality characterise the products in the collection. The series is divided into the following categories: cooking, serving, living, bath and outdoor. All in all, an extensive selection of tools and utensils so you can surround yourself with outstanding design throughout your home.
I am more than happy to own quite a few of their products and I can attest to all of their qualities. It only takes a few products to fall in love with Eva Solo and I am always looking forward to their newsletter for new products and new lines.

Living Room changes and Muuto Leaf floor Lamp plans

Good morning everyone!
Such a busy day today as I have been up quite early in order to finish up with the living room new styling.Almost ready to install the shelves behind the couch and change the composition a little bit so this will be the last time you see the living room in this exact placing. I am really looking forward to some change although I keep the minimalistic feel and overall style of it. Adding a few details will only elevate its design and hopefully it will also bring some more practical every day use to the space. I am probably going to be adding a floor lamp as well and my top candidate at the moment is the Muuto Leaf lamp in grey. What do you think?

Easter theme with Yellow Tulips

Easter came and left way too early this year. I have to remember every festive season to start with my decorations way earlier than I think I should, lest there be none at all like this year. I did however buy a bunch of yellow tulip bouquets that brightened the house in no time. If I have a tip on how to make your house look festive in 123 is to fill it with flowers that are color appropriate for the occasion. I love white flowers and I also love plain green plants but I always buy yellow for Easter or red for Christmas. After all they are only once per year so why not have a dedicated color for them? I also brought out my yellow and green Muuto E27 pendants, I love how they complement the room and match the flowers.
I haven’t posted for a few days now due to the holidays so while my living room still looks like this it will be changing soon.I will be dropping off to IKEA to buy more frames for my posters and some shelves to place them on. I am especially looking forward to adding a big shelf behind the couch, it will look great and also it will hold all the things that I want to have close and I don’t want to clutter my table with. Also I am thinking of buying some boxes to fix to the wall, I have seen some amazing compositions out there that have inspired me quite a lot. Hope you have a great week , I will be back soon with more updates on my living room!

Small Living Room Makeover and Tips on how to Recreate it.

As you already know I love changing things around and the living room is the space I probably change the most. I have had this look for a few weeks now and it fits my mode perfectly.

It all started when I found the coziest of blankets on sale. A beautiful chunky knit on one side that is lined with fleece sheepskin on the other. It is warm and soft and it hasn’t left the couch since the day I bought it. I loved the feeling it gave so much that I decided to change some details around in order to create a warm atmosphere.
I hang wooden pendants from the ceiling from Nordic Tales and added one of their wooden frosted glass vase with some springs.
To complete the casual cozy look I layered sheepskins and candles. I chose Kahler ceramic houses because the light they emit is so soft in the afternoons and for some extra brightness when needed, their ceramic Globo candle holder in grey.
When I was planning how to create a cozy atmosphere I was careful combining not only the colors but the materials as well. Knits and sheepskins intertwined with wooden and ceramic details is a perfect combination when you want to achieve this look. Then you can easily add springs or floral details and some pale toned accessories that will enhance the look easily. For example I find my new thermo mugs from Royal Copenhagen complement the look perfectly, so much so that I didn’t want to remove them while I taking these photos. It is very important to live in the space you create, and everyday details like mugs or your laptop should not feel like they are intruding. After all they are almost a staple in your living room so instead of trying to hide them it is best to integrate them!

As a final touch I chose a Skandinavisk candle for their magical aroma and what a better choice than the green Forest. Even when it is not lit there is a subtle smell of pine and fir, aged leather and woodland around the coffee table that draws you near.

I love the new look my living room has nowadays and didn’t take too much to create it. It is amazing what rearranging and adding details will do to a space, don’t be afraid to try it yourselves!

Gloomy days

I love gloomy days. Especially when I can cozy up inside the house while the rain falls out my windows is a great feeling. Some candles , few twigs that are just blooming and a warn chocolate are perfect companions. Winter is far from over here in Norway and I do hope in a few days we might even see snow again right on our doorstep. Of course skiing is only a few minutes away by car so snow is never too far away, but there is something when you wake up and everything is white outside. Since I spend so many months in Greece this year and barely made Christmas holidays I must have missed most of winter and I have way too many mittens and beanies yet to be worn in my drawers :) Hopefully easter in a few days will be snowy enough so we can enjoy it while at the cabin. Which reminds me, I always post images on my blog or instagram that are edited but I love a new little app called Snapchat. If you have it feel free to add me for a look at my everyday unedited life ( I can assure you it is pretty boring ). My username is katerina.dima :)

Cozy Living Room

Lately I have been enjoying the coziness of my home a little too much. I like changing things around, especially adding layers during winter, and creating cozy corners. I love sitting in a warm soft spot by our fireplace close to the couch while drinking tea and catching up to my favorite interior magazines. Today I decided I wanted a little bit of extra color around me so I brought out my favorite colored blankets. The plaid one is from Nordic Tales ( you can previous post for more photos here) and the mohair one in the basket is from Zara Home, although I am not sure it is available anymore in this color. Colorful details make me happy today. By the time I took the first photo I also added one of my favorite posters back up on the wall (see below) from Playtype, what do you think? This weekend I am going to be busy painting downstairs and designing the walk in closet. The plan is to get most of the things needed from IKEA so some planning is in order before our trip to Bergen next week. I am also planning a visit to Illums Bolighus, I can’t resist getting some candles from Scandinavisk. Candles is something you have to smell yourself before you buy so I am eager to try the new fragrances!Follow me on Instagram | Pinterest | Twitter | Facebook | Bloglovin | Feedly▲(There are no affiliated links in this blogpost. Living Room Favorites

I love how the living room looks today. While there are no big changes, subtle details make a lot of difference. For the winter I have chosen to drape the couch with plaids that give a little bit of depth and also can be be used to snuggle and get cozy. Sheepskins are really important as well when it comes to my winter styling. I like using them as rugs or placemats on the floor or else as footmats at the end of the couch. I love stretching my feet and a sheepskin under them feels great plus it protects the couch from dirt while looking great. I get my sheepskins in various places, mostly from stores locally but I do have two old ones from IKEA as well. IKEA has a decent quality of sheepskins (not the fake ones) that hold well and feel lovely to the touch. Personally I  prefer Icelandic sheepskins, they are very soft with longer than usual hair. They are also bulkier and larger sized while the skin under the hair is treated in a way that is extremely soft and will assume any shape. You will find sheepskins in almost every Scandinavian home but I do believe they make an excellent addition to any home anywhere in the world for winter. So what are you waiting for? February is perfect sales month to get new blankets and sheepskins for your home and there is plenty of winter still left to thoroughly enjoy them!Follow me on Instagram | Pinterest | Twitter | Facebook | Bloglovin | Feedly▲(There are no affiliated links in this blogpost. Of Pots and Resusable Uashmama paper bags

New in, my Uashmama grey reusable paper bag used as a pot for my baby ficus as seen above.A few days ago I was wondering in this post what pot to buy and I was between the grey Uashmama above or a ceramic TineKhome one. I went for the paper bag firstly because I already own one in brown ( as seen here for a review as well ) and I love it, and secondly simply because of it’s versatility. I plan on getting more of these washable paper wonders in many more sizes to use for storage as well. I can see them in my minds eye having so many uses, if you haven’t one for yourselves I highly recommend buying one at least. For those not wanting to spend money on a reusable washable paper bag there is always the solution of using an actual paper bag and I have some ideas to make this work so keep an eye for a future post about this ;) Follow me on Instagram | Pinterest | Twitter | Facebook | Bloglovin | Feedly▲(There are no affiliated links in this blogpost. Another snowy day

Sitting on my sofa gazing at the snow falling softly outside, it is peaceful and calm. Perfect time to respond to emails and get on a project I will be sharing soon! My trusty Logitech Bluetooth Keys to Go keyboard is a lifesaver. I just don’t want to sit at my office desk today. I want to be able to gaze outside while I am working on the blog and watch Reign on the TV. I just love the dresses even though they are not exactly mirroring the actual style of what the women were wearing during that century. And so my day begins with breakfast on the couch!I hope it is not too slippery later due to the snow so I can go for a run outside. My snow boots ( Sorel Caribou in buff) allow me to walk safely but they are a bit too heavy for running!I still will not change snow and winter for summer.I just love this weather too much ♥Follow me on Instagram | Pinterest | Twitter | Facebook | Bloglovin | Feedly▲(There are no affiliated links in this blogpost. Subtle Scandinavian Colors with Weather Plaids from

While most people believe Scandinavian design is all about white, the reality is that Scandinavian design is about soft minimalism that embraces nature and it’s palette. Therefore it is very common to see colors, even bright booming ones in a Scandinavian home. Nordic Tales is a company I particularly love and their designs are very close to my style. You might remember it from my post here about their beautiful Bright Sprout lights. They were more than generous to send me two of their soft Weather Plaids in sundown/fall, dawn/winter color combinations in virgin wool. They are very soft and warm, something that is so welcomed now in winter in Norway, but even more importantly for a interior blogger, they look great draped in just about anything including myself. Even right now I have one around my shoulders warming me up while I enjoy a cup of hot chocolate on a snowy day. Winter can’t get better than this.Follow me on Instagram | Pinterest | Twitter | Facebook | Bloglovin | Feedly▲© 2013-2014 ONLYDECOLOVE.COMALL RIGHTS RESERVEDPhotographs taken by Katerina Dima unless otherwise stated.

Grey Living Room

There was a lot of snow last few days and everything outside is a beautiful crisp white. Inside however everything is a muted grey. The way I like it for winter. In Norway during winter you have to make your own light, candles and extra table lamps help a lot in creating a cozy and warm atmosphere. Since yesterday Nina storm passed by, today everyone is enjoying the warmth of their houses. I find myself enjoying my stress free Sunday perusing through blogs and shops for either home decoration or winter outfits and accessories. How cute is this Roxy bag? And about 80% off. I wish they would ship worldwide! Follow me on Instagram | Pinterest | Twitter | Facebook | Bloglovin | Feedly▲© 2013-2014 ONLYDECOLOVE.COMALL RIGHTS RESERVEDPhotographs taken by Katerina Dima unless otherwise stated.

New in my Living Room : Design Letters and Voluspa Candles

It really feels great to be back home.I have been spending my days unpacking and organizing and with the added Christmas gifts I feel I  need a new house to fit everything. Until the time comes, creating corners to display your favorite things and gain some extra space is ideal. I used my Design Letters side table beside the couch and it fits my Kubus , a small container for cords and my new Voluspa candle in crisp champagne perfectly. And there is still space for the occasional phone or book or anything that I might want to temporarily place there. In addition this specific little side table is so easy to move around by using its handle I find it ideal for my living room. The Voluspa candle was a gift from my boyfriends sisters for Christmas ( along with a full set of Muuto dots that you will get to see as soon as I put them up! ) and I have honestly fallen in love with it. It burns for 50 hours and I don’t think it will last me for more than a few days at this rate. The aroma is wonderful even when it’s not lit. This is my first Voluspa candle and I simply adore it so I will be definitely be purchasing more of it! ( There are no affiliate links in this post. Dining Chairs Conundrum

For a while now I have wanted to change our living room TV ( I have my eye on this white Samsung) but I can’t possibly warrant such a change when the current one is working flawlessly. And even more since there are other priorities like getting some dining chairs to replace our old ones.
Four Eames DSW would be amazing but I would love to mix them up with two About a Chair by Hay. It would make the whole set up more affordable and also give it a little bit more character as well. For now I can only plan from afar and miss the cozy times I spend on my sofa cuddling with a soft blanket while re-watching The Tudors.

Do you have any shows that you keep re-watching? :)

Gearing up for Winter

I am gearing up for winter. Can you tell? My living room tones turn more grey and neutral, there are blankets and sheepskins everywhere and candles to add to the evening cozy mood.
Even though it is not nearly as cold yet I can’t help myself. My latest additions in the mix are blankets and a storage round basket made of some sort of iron material all from Bohus.
Are you getting into winter mode yet or you are trying to prolong summer as much as possible?

Scenes from my Home

Things are very quiet around here and I couldn’t be happier. Tonight our plans are after an afternoon hike to return home for a movie , chocolate covered strawberries I made just an hour ago and champagne.

You don’t need it to be a special day in order to plan a nice afternoon for yourself and the people you love.
In fact, it’s these moments that make our life better.
I wish everyone has an amazing afternoon whatever you do!
