Carrera Bound

As I was trying to find a witty title for this outfit post (which quite frankly is the hardest thing after finding Instagram captions) I realized the Carrera sunglasses I’m wearing already have the perfect name. Created using the retro aesthetic of the classic pilot shape bound together with a double metal bridge and the iconic Carrera logo, the name may be hinting at anything; a destination, a root, a union… For me, it’s a bold way to embrace the good old pilot with a hint of red, a color I’m trying to adopt into my everyday looks. . Concrete Jungle

I fell in love with this dress the minute, nay, the second I saw it (and here’s proof) so it’s no surprise that I immediately made it mine. Everything about it is just perfect; the fabric, the length, tassel detail at the skirt, the belt, the neck… Flattering and not so girly, subtly sexy but mostly cool. The System

I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of uniforms. I was probably the only girl in high school who was more than content with the dress code (with slight rule breakers of course) and despite my interest in fashion and the constant need to be the first one to try something new as a blogger or always do something different, I’ve always felt more comfortable when I’m wearing my wardrobe staples. That’s probably why when you see me on a regular day I’ll be wearing pretty much the same things: tapered pants, boyfriend jeans, basic t-shirts or tank tops, simple non-stretch maxi dresses, oversized sweaters and my most comfortable pair of shoes. This style formula has never failed me and now we have a brand that’s creating and delivering that formula for us. Introducing Eileen Fisher and The System ladies and gentlemen. With a focus on 8 core pieces at the heart of the system (and 19 pieces in total), Eileen Fisher wants to show the world we can do more with less, buy fewer …

Turn It Around

One of the happiest “fashion” moments of my life was when I learned, two years ago, that COS was opening in Montreal. Before that I was literally saving money to shop from the brand whenever I’m in Europe so it was unreal for me that I would have access whenever I want. I love it so much that if I’m not supposed to shop I don’t enter the shop at all because I know that I will buy at least one thing every time I go in. Every single item is so well tailored with the right fabrics that it’s no coincidence whenever someone asks me where I bought something the answer is almost always, COS. This dress is my last favorite and it fits so freakin well that even when I wear it backwards it still looks good (yes it’s backwards in these photos and I didn’t realize it until I came back home). . Suede Lovin Has Me A Blast

From my previous personal experience I gather that it’s NOT OK to tell people you don’t like summer. Every time I make this declaration I’m faced with shock, rage and I think I lost some friends because of this opinion so I learned to rather keep it to myself. However it’s impossible for me to hide the joy of wearing trench coats again, especially suede ones. Everything I wear looks better with a long layer of thin outerwear so sue me, I love autumn, I love September. . Tan suede trench coat Persephone Vintage (similar here & here) . Rope Off, Rope On

Usually it would have been just me hanging on to summer, never letting it go, refusing its end and freezing my ass off in the process but this year it’s the whole continent that’s fighting with me as I’m trying to let it go and move on to fall clothes. I know I’m going to miss it like crazy once it’s gone, but humankind is greedy. I don’t like dressing up in summer any more than I like dressing up in winter so I’m always trying to find new ways to layer my clothes, even using ones I already forgot in the depths of my wardrobe, like this decades old H&M dress. And it’s OK that it’s really fancy because the rope sandals are sailor cool. . Ivory wrap dress H&M (similar here & here) . Black tapered pants Zara (similar here & here) . An Old Maid

News flash: I wear dresses sometimes. But only when they are so comfortable that I wouldn’t feel like I’m cheating on my tapered pants or short shorts and when they are so not girly at all (with frills and flower prints etc etc) so that leaves me a very, VERY narrow range of choices to choose among. Namely: t-shirt dresses, sweater dresses, slip dresses, shirt dresses AAAAND apron dresses. I started looking for an apron dress at the beginning of this summer because I knew it would save me but after weeks of searching I gave up and decided to just buy an actual linen apron and wear it like a dress. That was when I typed “linen apron” in the search box of Etsy and found the one. I know I look like an old maid but it’s a minimal, kind of bad ass eclectic piece of shit old maid so it’s good. . A Conscious Search

It’s been a long while since the last time I went crazy over a piece of clothing I couldn’t initially find and if I remember correctly, that last time I promised myself never to do it again yet here I am, wearing the H&M Conscious mules for which I searched the whole world frantically for two whole months. I checked stores here, then in NY, Paris, Istanbul, Ankara; I asked my hubby to check them in Berlin, Oslo – they were completely sold out everywhere, which is a hint that you should give up on them at that point, but I refused to get that message from the universe. And much like every other dream, this one too came true through eBay and here they are: my slightly overpaid for, fancy mules. The search is over. finally. Thankfully. . Looking Over The Shoulder

Despite my love for black, which doesn’t even need explanation at this point, I don’t like wearing all black. I actually refrain from wearing all black, I don’t think I have the right hair and skin tone (or Scandinavian cool) to pull it off so you can almost never see me in all black. But it took this off the shoulder sweatshirt from the exclusive Martine Jarlgaard x Byond collection (yeah, it’s a sweatshirt made from a sustainable fabric with open shoulders that you can pull to either side) to make me wear head to toe black in the middle of summer. I tried my usual recipe; white pants, linen pants, denim and then khaki pants but none of them did justice to this top like my classic cut tailored black pants with Converses to tone down the flare. . Crop & Fringe

Before getting to the outfit I’d like to point out for the official record that these photos were taken in Montreal, at the beginning of February (2016) and anyone who has ever been to our beautiful fridge would know that to not have snow and be able to walk around like this anytime from mid December to the end of March is as rare a sight as seeing bigfoot crossing 5th Avenue. Best of 2015

Have you ever had one of those years where it felt like it lasted a lifetime, like almost everything you remember doing happened in just the last 365 days? 2015 has been like that for me in terms of my career, I feel like I started my blog this year and it just evolved and developed even though it’s been 6 years already. This was the year I got featured as the it-girl on Vogue Turkey’s February issue, the year I was one of the instagram users to follow on Cosmopolitan Turkey’s September issue, the year I was on The Main MTL, Flare Mag, multiple posts of NY Mag The Cut, Blue is in Fashion This Year and other websites & blogs, the year I got thousands of repins on Pinterest, the year I raised my Instagram followers from 3k to almost 30k – which was the biggest accomplishment of all on my end. I’m usually a pessimist and I undermine everything I ever do so please bear with  me as I humbly brag for …

Code White

When people are so set on their favorite colors I get a tiny bit jealous since I can never decide between grey, black and white (not just clothes) but lately I’m leaning a bit more towards the latter. Whenever I can’t seem to pair an item with something I throw in a white top and it’s resolved (and no matter what I’m wearing I always, always need a white piece) or there HAS to be something white in my instagram photos, my walls and sheets always have to be white, most beautiful sights in the world always include something white (snow, foggy air etc) so today I’m celebrating the charm of white and all (one million) of its shades. .
