I Never Expire

I always believe there’s a funny plot twist in every person’s life story, something that happens to them very ironically when they think they’re the last person it can happen to. To me that thing was getting married. Despite the endless – sometimes subliminal – pressure you get all your life as a girl to get married, to have kids and live a “proper” life, I kept on chanting Anouk’s “Nobody’s Wife” like it was my personal anthem. I kept on laughing when my friends tell me despite what I say, I’ll be the first one to get married. I couldn’t be in serious relationships and marriage simply wasn’t fit for me. Then, at 19 years old, I met the love of my life. After dating for 7 years we got married when we were 26 years old. And yes, we were the first ones among our friends to get married. It wasn’t a splashy proposal and a show off wedding. It wasn’t because we had to get married because we’ve been together for so …

I think there was only one way to make a slip dress look cooler and even more sexy at the same time and Millie +Lou managed to find it: hot pressing harriet prints on a vintage ivory satin apron dress. I’m so insanely in love with this dress I even got over my “wearing sleepwear outside” phobia (FOWSO?) – I needed a trench to make it more city-friendly but I’m taking this baby to vacation and there will be numerous nights where it will be just me and her (and some underwear probably…maybe). . Concrete Jungle

I fell in love with this dress the minute, nay, the second I saw it (and here’s proof) so it’s no surprise that I immediately made it mine. Everything about it is just perfect; the fabric, the length, tassel detail at the skirt, the belt, the neck… Flattering and not so girly, subtly sexy but mostly cool. Best of Coachella 2017

I’ve given up on indie-rock-pop music festivals approximately 2 years ago when I had the worst time at Osheaga and realized I was the only one bored because I was the only one there for the music (and was not high) and didn’t care at all about how I looked. Ever since the first time I went to a rock music festival (I was 17) I’m all about “Will I be able to pee comfortably in this?” “Will I get sunburns in this?” “Is there enough space in my tent for this?” “Will my feet hurt in this after 15 hours standing up?” so girls in flower crowns and white crochet dresses with sandals or boys showing off their six packs in trucker hats that attend the entire festival (whereas I buy tickets to only the days I’m interested in) but have no clue about the music started to freak me out. I’m still attending rock festivals where we dance and jump in dust all day and eventually sleep in our car at night, but …

Yeti On My Feet

About three years ago I found a long fur string (which was probably a stole once) at a vintage store in Montreal for just $10, under many many other fabrics and immediately thought I should have it. The friend I was with that day, who wasn’t particularly interested in fashion, looked at me in shock and asked me what the hell I’m going to do with it. “I don’t know, something, someday” I replied, thinking I’d probably hem a skirt or stitch a collar with it and left the store as the cashier thought I was buying it for a Halloween costume and mumbled some jokes. Three years later and that fur not only turned into several pieces of jewelry but also helped me transform my once-cool-now-dull Zara black slides into furry sandals, and I still have more fur left. Rope Off, Rope On

Usually it would have been just me hanging on to summer, never letting it go, refusing its end and freezing my ass off in the process but this year it’s the whole continent that’s fighting with me as I’m trying to let it go and move on to fall clothes. I know I’m going to miss it like crazy once it’s gone, but humankind is greedy. I don’t like dressing up in summer any more than I like dressing up in winter so I’m always trying to find new ways to layer my clothes, even using ones I already forgot in the depths of my wardrobe, like this decades old H&M dress. And it’s OK that it’s really fancy because the rope sandals are sailor cool. . Ivory wrap dress H&M (similar here & here) . Black tapered pants Zara (similar here & here) . Push The Buttons

First of all; I’m sorry mom for the wrinkled dress but this is linen and I’m not going to iron something when I know it will get ruined again in 2 mins. Second of all; this is the first time in recorded history that I wore a puffy shoulder dress. In fact I refused to buy this dress the first time I saw it; I gasped out of love at first but then I saw the shoulders and let it go. I’m usually very much open to trying new styles as long as my figure allows it but for some reason I have this serious problem with shoulders, I just can’t wear anything that has a shoulder line below or above my actual shoulders so that means no shoulder pads, no vintage sizing and definitely no puffy sleeves. But after insanely searching for a dress like this sans the shoulders and failing miserably, I took the leap and got it. I think it’s looking alright! . Cluse Me In

Three things I learned this weekend: 1) You can easily turn any bat sleeve kimono or cardigan into a wrap skirt and it feels more comfortable and laid back then any other skirt can ever be, 2) Apparently the little girl inside of me isn’t dead at all and I still enjoy wearing pink shoes, more than I’m proud to admit, 3) I’m OK with wearing watches with any kind of outfit as long as they’re chic and light like jewelry. For a long time the only “thing” occupying my right wrist has been my faithful elastic hair tie so I started to sense my left wrist is feeling left out – my left hand and arm being useless compared to the other one already – it begged me to adorn it with something nice and just as useful. OK nothing can be as useful as an elastic hair tie but this one is close, or should I say CLUSE (ba dum tss). Works like a watch, feels like a slender bracelet: right wrist, the …

One Piece is Better Than Two

Summer ain’t over yet, not by a long shot, and with all the North American extreme heatwaves it seems like it’s going to stay for longer than usual where even city girls will need new swimwear. I finally enjoyed the pool in the park right next to my house for the first time in 3 years, that was something I was avoiding because of the crowd but the humidity made that choice inevitable. But that wasn’t the only time I wore swimwear coming out of my house, I recently discovered that one piece swimsuits are perfect summer tops, better than tees, better than bodysuits. Ok they may not have the crotch opening which makes peeing a torture but the stretchy fabric means no bra required. Heaven on hell. image sources: tao of sophia, wolfcub Save Save Save

A Conscious Search

It’s been a long while since the last time I went crazy over a piece of clothing I couldn’t initially find and if I remember correctly, that last time I promised myself never to do it again yet here I am, wearing the H&M Conscious mules for which I searched the whole world frantically for two whole months. I checked stores here, then in NY, Paris, Istanbul, Ankara; I asked my hubby to check them in Berlin, Oslo – they were completely sold out everywhere, which is a hint that you should give up on them at that point, but I refused to get that message from the universe. And much like every other dream, this one too came true through eBay and here they are: my slightly overpaid for, fancy mules. The search is over. finally. Thankfully. . Best of 2015

Have you ever had one of those years where it felt like it lasted a lifetime, like almost everything you remember doing happened in just the last 365 days? 2015 has been like that for me in terms of my career, I feel like I started my blog this year and it just evolved and developed even though it’s been 6 years already. This was the year I got featured as the it-girl on Vogue Turkey’s February issue, the year I was one of the instagram users to follow on Cosmopolitan Turkey’s September issue, the year I was on The Main MTL, Flare Mag, multiple posts of NY Mag The Cut, Blue is in Fashion This Year and other websites & blogs, the year I got thousands of repins on Pinterest, the year I raised my Instagram followers from 3k to almost 30k – which was the biggest accomplishment of all on my end. I’m usually a pessimist and I undermine everything I ever do so please bear with  me as I humbly brag for …
