Hotel Danmark

A few days ago I posted my highlights from 3 Days of Design ( Part 1 and Part 2 ) , but what I haven’t yet shared other than sneak peeks was the place I called home for these couple of design days in Copenhagen. I usually stay at SP34 while in town but this time around Brøchner Hotels happened to open the doors to its new luxury boutique Hotel Danmark that coincided with our stay.  I really wanted to experience the brand new hotel even though it wasn’t yet officially opened so I booked a stay, but I didn’t get to shoot all the spaces for this post that I wanted to (the rooftop terrace and breakfast area were not finished yet for example), which means next time I am in town I could be stopping again for those extra photos. For today however I am glad to share the room that I stayed in and some speak peeks from around the hotel, so scroll down for never before seen photos of the rooms from my perspective ;)

One of the first thing I noticed when I entered my room were the big windows that offer an amazing view of Copenhagen (Tivoli is a few meters away as well) right in front of me. All rooms regardless of size offer the same views, for me light and big windows is a winning point for any hotel room, but also something I value in my own apartment as well ( my new place in Oslo has similar windows and I can’t wait to move in first of July!).  The windowsills are also big enough that when I needed to work I could set up a working spot on any of them and enjoy the view while emailing or editing photos (one of the sneak peeks while I was there was Todays office in Copenhagen where I showed the spot I was working on that day). However the double superior room also offers a very comfortable couch and side tables, a solution I used a lot to work from.

My bed was comfortable ( to my opinion and liking) with Aiayu  details standing out for a luxurious feel. From the Hollie bedspread to the Heather pillows ( not just in the bedroom but also in the living room and lobby of the hotel), the brass and marble details and designer furniture,  Hotel Danmark offers a unique experience that is very connected to Danish design today.

Generally the hotel was not quite finished at the time of my visit, so there were some details that I expect will be fixed by the time it is officially up and running. I will not dedicate time into listing them, however one the things I would like to see fixed would be the bathrooms that did not feel completely renovated. The rest of the hotel has gone into extensive full renovation and it would be a shame for the bathrooms not to receive the same attention as well.

When it comes to the lobby there are two spaces that the now famous and much loved wine hour can be enjoyed , while guests are welcomed to sit outside as well but also on the rooftop terrace too.
Overall and with the exception of a few hiccups that I am sure will be resolved within a few weeks after official opening,  I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Danmark, the rooms were big and beautiful while the stuff was as always very accommodating. If I have any advice is bring a sleep mask, the curtains that are a beautiful cream color are not shielding against the morning light.
Before I wrap up this post, probably I will get this question a lot so this is the perfect time to answer. Do I prefer the new Hotel Danmark or the old and favorite SP34? Both hotels are unique in their design, both luxurious and in a great location but ultimately I find SP34 design more to my style. The fact that it is closer to Metro station is also a plus but the winning lobby and designer bathrooms as SP34 will always win me over.

Todays office in Copenhagen

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
I haven’t posted on my blog last few days, if you follow me on Instagram you already know I am in Copenhagen for a few days now attending 3 days of Design and my schedule is very hectic! In fact I think I am so exhausted at this point that yesterday I felt so sick I had to leave the &Tradition party, and after almost 12 hours of sleep I still don’t feel like myself. Which gives me the time to blog, a little bit of ironic isn’t it. Usually I carry my macbook with me when I go out (even when travelling) since working from a coffee shop is one of my favorite alternative locations, today however I am blogging from my hotel room in Hotel Danmark. I made myself a comfortable spot on one of the big window sills because I love the view, there is nothing quite like working  with Copenhagens city scape in front of you!Hopefully I will be able to get out again today and visit a few more of the showrooms I haven’t had time to visit the last 2 days . While feeling sick is not ideal, I will feel even worse knowing I lost a whole day being inside my hotel no matter how beautiful my room is. I have already posted a few of my highlights on my instagram, plus I am documenting on my instagram stories anything that catches my eye along with highlights of my day, do follow if you aren’t already for live updates. I will be making a post about the hotel and where I have been the last few days while in Copenhagen, it has been very exciting few last days !

Travel Diaries : Marktgasse Hotel in Zurich

//Travel and accommodation was sponsored by Marktgasse Hotel in Zurich.

A few days ago I traveled to Zurich where I stayed in one of the most beautiful boutique hotels the Marktgasse Hotel. If you have been following me on instagram you have already seen some sneak peeks and video stories so you know how it looks, however today I edited some of my favorite photos from my visit and I am going to take you on an official tour! I had a hard time choosing from my photos so today’s post will have a little more than usual, but I think this is a special occasion!
Before we start you can also see some stills from my room in Todays office in Zurich post while for a different point of view check my friends Elisabeth Heier post whom I had the joy of travelling with together.

The Marktgasse Hotel is a destination on its own when in Zurich. Just a short walk from the cities top sightseeing highlights, the lake and the main train station, situated right in the middle of the old town. A building from the 15th century that recently got a comprehensive renovation that carefully and lovingly preserved the heritage elements that enjoy protected status. The result is a timeless unique building that mixes history with contemporary design, from the Mayor AJ5 & Tradition sofas in the reception area and the Gubi Grossman Gräshoppa Task Table lights , Gubi Grossman Cobra wall Light , Gubi 3D Stool , Artek Stool 60, Dante Memoir Hanger while the rooms are equipped with a desk and chairs from Københavns Møbelsnedkeri . There are plenty of magazines to browse through while sitting in the relaxing sitting area at the lobby such as 59 Magazine and Nopi Cookbook along with many travel guides to point you to the right direction while in Zurich.

While in the lobby one can find complimentary Nespresso and a variety of tea served in Kinto teapots and mugs, a small luxury I enjoyed everyday while working in the pleasant environment and planning the day ahead. You can choose to relax with a magazine in the reception area sitting in the comfy Mayor sofas, or if you are like me and like to work a little bit as well there is a variety of options to choose from! In the lobby I found myself usually sitting on the long table so I could have more room to work while enjoying my tea. There are nooks by the windows with computers for guests to use as well while if you like more privacy and less commotion, a short half a floor away you can find the library and the living room.

When it comes to breakfast, the Delish Cafe juxtaposed to the hotel (the elevator takes you right in the middle of the cafe)  offers a great breakfast variety as well as a great selection of pastries and one of the best lunches I had the pleasure of having in the city. I really liked  the idea of the cafe being open for everyone during and after breakfast, it gave a feeling of casual gathering of the guests along with the locals, probably gathering at the cafe for their renowned homemade cinnamon buns that would disappear by midday.
If it is dinner or a drink you are seeking instead, the Baltho Restaurant and Baltho Bar at the hotel offer great food and drinks! Same concept of openness invites everyone to join, I particularly liked the buzzing warm atmosphere at the bar, were we could be found every night after exploring the city.

As I mentioned before, I showed a sneak peek of the room in my Todays office in Zurich post , and finally today I am able to show more! The boutique hotel in its entirety was stunning, but my personal favorite was in fact my very own room. From the striking original floors, the original and carefully restored painted grey panels that covered the rooms, the big windows to the carefully selected furniture , the room invites you to stay in and relax. I spend as many hours as I could afford on the Københavns Møbelsnedkeri desk and chair working, drinking my tea and trying to take in my environment and the view of the old town from my ceiling high windows ( a total 3 on my corner shaped room). A detail I really liked, the custom made shelf on the wall, used for magazines but more importantly for a carafe that I could refill with fresh water just outside my room on a stone basin.

All bathrooms are equipped with Aesop products, it really felt like home since I am using the exact same products, plus I didn’t need to bring with me as many as I usually do! You can ask before arrival for a bathroom with natural light, they usually have marble details under the windows which in my opinion gives a feeling of luxury when you leave your make up bag on! All bathrooms are newly renovated in a black and white minimalistic scheme.

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
I enjoyed my stay at the Marktgasse Hotel immensely , I would love to visit again next time I m in Zurich for either business or fun!
A special thank you to the very helpful staff and the General Manager, Olivier Gerber, who all make me feel so very welcomed.

Juicery 21 in Zurich

I just came back home from Zurich yesterday and although I want to make a post about some of my favorite places to visit while in town, I am not sure I will have enough photos for it, but for today let me tell you about this little gem we found with Elisabeth ( from Elisabeth Heier, do visit her for additional photos and her view of Zurich and our stay) while trying to find a place to sit in the rain and eat lunch. Juicery 21 in Zurich can be found near the Botanical Garden of Zurich, very close to the old city center. The Swedish young cool owner took great care not only with the products that he is serving but also with the styling of the cool lunch/coffee spot. Here you can find not only spectacular healthy fresh cold press juices, but also a variety of raw shakes, smoothies, acai or oatmeal or quinoa bowls, bagel sandwiches and warm blends. Sit inside or outside on Menu WM String dining chairs and enjoy either a few minutes of relaxation , or stay more if you like and work . The music and atmosphere are very relaxing, perfect work environment, their playlist is up on Juicery21 website! I had a quinoa warm bowl for lunch ( as seen below) while I brought back with me at the hotel a fresh cold pressed juice ( Hot Lemon blend – lemon/apple/ginger) to drink next day in the morning before breakfast ( and yes, I brought the bottle back with me in my suitcase!). I wish we had something similar in Oslo, I can promise you I would be there every single day and I know a lot of others that would as well. Maybe we can convince the cool Swedish guy to move back closer to Scandinavia?

Todays office in Zurich

I woke up today in Zurich in my room at the Marktgasse Hotel , the most beautiful morning light was softly filling the room. Before I go out and explore the city, and after having breakfast downstairs at the hotels cafe/brunch shop (it is open for locals as well during the day), I made myself comfortable at my office desk in my room to finish up some work. Usually I rather work at the lobby of hotels (with my trusty macbook, my phone and my notebook from Paper Collective’s collaboration with Sørensen Leather ) , and although Marktgasse Hotel lobby is truly beautiful, I couldn’t resist sitting on the Københavns Møbelsnedkeri desk and chair, while enjoying the beautiful view of the old town. One of the details that I loved, are the Kinto teapot (latest brand crush) and cup that can be found in the lobby where there is a small kitchen that guests can make their own coffee and tea during the day, I chose to bring mine in my room since I would be working for a few hours. I will be sharing more photos of the hotel and its beautiful details soon, but for now, I need to start exploring while the sun is up! Check my instagram stories for live updates and snippets from my explorations while in Zurich!

Gothenburg – Hotel Pigalle

As I mentioned in the previous post, I spend the weekend in Gothenburg with my friend and colleague Elisabeth Heier ( you can see some snaps of her home as shot by me here) where we attended Fridas Trendensers influencers meetup. My hotel of choice this time was Pigalle, a destination on its own while in Gothenburg, not only for a place to stay but also for its great restaurant the Atelier, which is situated on the top floor (where breakfast is served in the mornings) as well as for a drink at the Bar Amuse located at the lobby. The hotel has a special old Parisian vibe, from the decoration to the music that serenades you as you walk around, and even the elevator has something to tell you secretly while you wait..It is truly a unique experience and I would heartily recommend at least visiting Pigalle while in Gothenburg. Below you can find some photos I took during my stay, my room, the Atelier and finally the lobby.

Stockholm : Mornington My Home away from home

Tomorrow I will be finishing up the post with photos of the news I shot while at the Furniture and Light fair, but today I thought it would be a good idea to show off the beautiful premises of Mornington hotel in Stockholm, my home away from home for the week.
Located in Nybrogatan 53 , close to the metro station and just a few minutes away from the best restaurants, cafes and shopping in the city, Mornington offers not only great location and service but also multiple newly renovated rooms to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Do ask for a room at the second floor for a similar look to mine, the stuff will do their best to accommodate you! This is my second time in Stockholm and the second time I have stayed at Mornington ( you can find the previous post  here). This time around due to visiting in winter, my photos turned up a little moodier, a little darker, but at the same time I think they convey my mood better.
Due to being extremely busy while in Stockholm, I did not spend as much time as I would have liked to in the room, however I still found time to enjoy a warm coffee by the window while answering emails early in the morning before going down for breakfast. It is these moments that I feel make for a good start of a day, no matter how busy!

Oslo Travel Diaries

While in Oslo this week, I made myself comfortable at the Bloggers Inn room in the Scandic Solli hotel near the Royal Palace. What is interesting about this Scandic is that this room is what we could only call : blogger friendly. The spacious room (separate living room and bathtub in the bathroom) is equipped with iPad, tripod and self-timer cameras for more flexible shooting and wireless speakers. Any blogger can apply for a free stay (for up to two days), enough time to enjoy a weekend in the city. I took some photos while there, my interpretation is a little bit more moody when it comes to the colors and perspective, I hope you enjoy some of my favorite corners of the hotel as shown below.

Travel Diaries London : Royal Exchange Grind

Thinking about taking a short weekend trip to London soon while it is still cold, if only just to enjoy myself a warm cup of espresso in the Royal Exchange Grid cafe and bar. Part of the Grind &Co network of cafe bars ( Covent Garden Grind being one more of my favorites) , Royal Exchange is the newest in line, created with contemporary minimalism in mind. Century-old floorboards were restored underfoot, while the same herringbone pattern in the marble wall tiles was employed in order to define the space even more.

Thoughts on the design process : “In developing the interior for this project, we wanted it to feel more like a bar than a cafe. The materials and colour palette extend this idea of refined, simple elegance, perfect for the area’s affluent clientele” by Biasol Design Studio.

The timeless material palette reflects the project’s context – located in a bustling commercial district alongside high-end boutiques, the cafe attracts a sophisticated clientele. A sleek Carrara marble counter is paired with matt brass foot rails and hooks. Behind the bar, bespoke display shelving continues the brass theme, with bedknob-topped rods capturing a certain nostalgia. The service space was designed to enable quick takeaway orders, while still offering comfortable dine-in options for those with a little time to linger. The lightness of the interior fitout is also manifested in the furniture choices. White three-legged stools with peacock-green upholstery from Danish design house Menu line-up along the marble bench that gazes out the windows onto the busy London street scene.

Mornington Hotel in Stockholm

During my last stay in Stockholm a little while ago I had the pleasure of staying at the Mornington hotel in the heart of the city. Just a stone throw away from the metro station and a few minutes walking distance from an array of shops and restaurants, with its beautiful mellow style, brass, marble and its welcoming feeling, Mornington is a great place to stay while in Stockholm.
The hotel has a restaurant that is divided in different spaces with different design approaches. In the morning breakfast is served between the areas that stretch all the way to the lobby to enjoy your meal with a cup of coffee, read a newspaper or even pick a book from one of the shelves.
The lobby is equipped with large sitting areas, comfortable couches but also a corner with Macbooks that are available for anyone to use. By the windows, old style leather seats with brass small tables make for a perfect spot for a quick coffee while waiting for a friend.

I stayed in one of the newly renovated suites with a separate bedroom and a living room. The bathroom as well was separated in two with two different entrances which makes sharing the room very comfortable. Furnished with Gubi designs, And Tradition lamps , a full wall of String solution shelves and a carefully curated selection of antiques, the room was much comfortable as sleek with its design.

The bedroom itself was separated by double doors from the living room, however both spaces have direct access to the big balcony with a great view. A small desk in the bedroom served as the perfect spot for the mornings when I needed a little bit of time to send emails and catch up with my work.

If you decide to stay at Mornington while in Stockholm make sure to ask for a newly renovated room, the staff with do its best to accommodate you :)

Travel Diaries : Bergen Mini Guide

Bergen is always a great destination for short trips, unless you already live there, with some great places to visit, eat and stay. I spend most of my time outside, shopping, walking around the city, watching movies, visiting some places I had on my wishlist for a long time, while any time I could spare (or when the rain was too heavy) I was to be found at a cafe working away on my Macbook. I shared quite a lot of videos on my instagram stories but some highlights (and my favorite restaurants) I am also sharing below, for anyone that wishes to visit Bergen.
I stayed at Scandic Ørnen, a relatively new hotel in Bergen right next to the central bus station. The positioning is great since the bus station has also a quite reasonably priced car parking, so it is easy to leave the car there for the entirety of the trip, while it is a short walk to the hotel and the very center of Bergen. All rooms in Ørnen are comfy and spacious with big windows overlooking Bergen. I especially love the minimal office corners as seen above.

Favorite places to eat while in Bergen :

::For a great lunch or dining experience I highly recommend visiting Lysverket restaurant. The space is designed and furnished by Københavens Møbelsnedkeri, while the menu is superb always prepared with freshly foraged seasonal ingredients.
::Another of my favorite spots to eat is Zupperia, and as the name suggests you can find some of the most amazing soups to eat on a rainy day. Tom Ka Gai and Eksotisk Drøm are my top choices when I visit, do try them!
::I also always stop by Sumo for sushi or Asiatic warm dishes. Pad Thai Noodles are great for those that do not love raw food as much while any sushi combo will satisfy sushi lovers.
::Last but not least for a quick bite or a normal menu, the best burger in town in my opinion is Royal Gourmet Burger and Gin. Try the Gourmet Burger (Brie, bacon ,mustard and honey, truffle oil) with one of their famous Gin combos.

Walking in Bergen is an experience on its own, however having a purpose is always better for me. For beauty/fashion shopping I always visit Pepper ( Acne, Aesop, Byredo are a few of my favorite brands Pepper carries), for interior shopping it is almost a crime not to visit Illums Bolighus, while around Bergens Blue stone (one of the main squares) you can find many malls and shopping streets with just about everything you might need. Bergen combines the charm of a small town with its cobblestone streets and small passages and wooden houses, with the flexibility of a big city with its shopping centers and the many activities to enjoy.

And if you are as lucky as me to go by Voss area on your way towards Bergen and back ,you will also experience one of the most idyllic Norwegian tours. During winter you are guaranteed to go by the most beautiful snowy sceneries . Just pop old ballads on your speakers and enjoy the ride.

Travel Diaries : Scandic St Olavs Plass

// Photos by Katerina Dima
In between my trip to Stockholm and Paris I spent a lot in Oslo due to many meetings and in order to attend all the Oslo press launches. One of the hotels I stayed at was the Scandic at St Olavs Plass. Due to its color palette that hints so much to autumn I thought today(the most beautiful autumn day) was the perfect opportunity to share some of the photos I took.
The restaurant is one of the best features of the hotel. Filled with And Tradition In Between SK1 chairs, made breakfast the highlight of my day. In fact, one of the first things I did as soon I returned from all my travelling was to order four for my dining room. If you really enjoy your breakfast as much I do, then Scandic hotels offer one of the best I have had the pleasure to try, I always look forward to my mornings. Couple that with a beautiful dining room in St Olavs Plass and you have an exquisite breakfast experience.
Scandic St Olavs Plass is all very recently renovated so you will find that everything is new, from the rooms (more photos here) to the last detail. I did not stay in my room as much, though it was very comfortable, as I would leave very early in the morning and return late at night to sleep. However I can wholeheartedly recommend visiting for the great breakfast experience, at least, this is where I spend the bulk of my time while in Scandic St Olavs Plass , even when I had a little bit of extra time while working with a hot cup of coffee.

Oslo Bathroom Love

//Photos by Katerina Dima
While in Oslo during August I stayed at Comfort Karl Johan Hotel (see the blogpost here), and while my room and the hotel themselves were quite beautiful, what stole my heart was the absolutely amazing bathroom. The light was amazing, shining through the milky window glasses, it created an ambient calming atmosphere throughout the day.The high ceilings reinforced a lofty feeling, while the black and white design of the tiles defining the shower area gave depth but also accentuated the tall windows even more. I immediately took a shower and a long bath right after I layered out all my Aesop favorite travel sized products for an even more homey feeling. I loved the hotel but I was even more sad to leave this bathroom behind, definitely visiting again next time I am in Oslo for a few days.

Travel Diaries : Comfort Hotel Karl Johan

I have been away from home for almost 2 weeks now, and while I thought I would have more free time to blog and keep you updated, I couldn’t have been more wrong on my original assessment. I flew to Stockholm for the Formex design fair, and I am currently in Oslo for press launches, meetings and the Oslo Design fair on the 1st. On the 2nd I am flying to Paris for Maison et Objet, I am so looking forward to it! As soon as I landed in Oslo I checked in Comfort Karl Johan hotel, one of the nicest hotels I have had the pleasure of staying as of late.
The hotel itself is very new, grand opening was only a couple of months ago, it is fully renovated and it is situated the middle of one of the busiest shopping streets in Oslo, Karl Johan Gate. Aesop store is right around the corner, while I also spotted Burberrys and Bottega Veneta a few steps away.
I was so happy with my room , from the great big windows and the view, to the little surprises of the linen bed throw and the classic collection of Bruce Springsteen’s vinyl records that I played while drawing and enjoying a bath in the most spectacular bathroom I have seen in a hotel. Even though I hardly had to leave my room, the hotel itself does not disappoint. Downstairs the breakfast bar is held under a big skylight while the bar is in my opinion the best place to sit and relax. During summer or warmer days, there are two different outside yards with tables and chairs to sit and enjoy the sun, while the restaurant will also extend its service there.
Overall I was sad when I had to check out, so I will be definitely coming back next time, hopefully at the same room. Ask for room 246 if you are looking to stay at the exact same room, the bathroom alone is worth it.

Copenhagen : Hotel SP34

To honor the launch of the Cereal Copenhagen Guide I decided to share my favorite hotel in Copenhagen, the Hotel SP34 by Brøchner Hotels. Elegant in its design , the boutique hotel 4 star hotel is situated at the Latin Quarter of Copenhagen, just 100 meters from the City Hall Square and the pedestrian street Strøget. With a courtyard and its rooftop terraces overlooking the surrounding neighborhood, the 3 town houses that comprise SP34 are furnished with elements that hold true to its original architecture while key components of contemporary design help create a unique feeling of luxury in the form of penthouse suites with skylight bathrooms and balconies with a panorama of the Danish capital.
I cannot wait next time I am in town to spend my nights there, and hopefully my schedule will be less than hectic so I can enjoy breakfast and coffee while I work at its cafe area.
Check Brøchner Hotels Instagram for updates, promotion codes and giveaways.

Travel Diaries : Revisiting Hotel Olena ( Clarion Collection ) in Bergen

//Accommodation was provided by Clarion Collection Oleana.

When I travel I love revisiting places I have been before just as much as discovering new. I am sure many of you experience this for example with restaurants, how many times do we go to a restaurant wanting to try something new but end up getting what we had the previous time because it was just that good? With Oleana Hotel I get the same feeling, it is just one of those times I want to order exactly what I had last time in double portion. Before scrolling down this post feel free to also check my last post about Clarion Collection Hotel Oleana in Bergen for more photos and for more thoughts about my stay there!
My favorite room at Oleana Hotel has a magnificent view of Bergen. Every detail is picked carefully, from the tiles of the bathroom to the comfortable armchairs, although my absolute favorite place to be is in the great bathtub with a glass of wine watching the sun set over the city. I highly recommend buying bath bombs if you stay at Oleana, Galleriet one of the biggest malls, is only 5 minutes away with a huge selection. You won’t regret it!
While at Oleana make sure you take advantage of the many amenities and luxurious spaces where you can relax in between your outings. Here in the ground floor just beside the living room with the beautiful fireplace you can eat breakfast in the morning, have waffles for a snack during the afternoon and eat dinner at night. A complimentary light evening meal of soup, a healthy salad buffet, main course and dessert is prepared everyday. I love that the atmosphere is relaxed during this time, you can serve yourself and enjoy some quiet time while eating, then take your coffee at the lounge by the fireplace. Here I spend many afternoons with my Macbook while I make plans for later as I watch the sun set over beautiful Bergen.
Bergen is one of the most beautiful cities in Norway, and regardless of when you wish to visit, be it winter or summer, there is a plethora of things to do and see. If you are somewhere close around Scandinavia it is worth coming on a weekend for a two nights stay to enjoy everything the city has to offer. However you might want to bring your umbrella, nature loves Bergen so much it rains a lot to keep it as clean as possible :)

Travel Diaries : Hotel Olena ( Clarion Collection ) in Bergen

//Accommodation was provided by Clarion Collection Oleana.
Flying back from Copenhagen I had planned to stay for a few days in beautiful Bergen, to visit family and friends but also for some meetings. I stayed at the Clarion Collection Hotel Oleana, a newly build hotel of only few months that combines luxury and coziness in a most remarkable way.

Hotel Oleana opened its doors this summer in a historic building in the very center of Bergen. Only minutes away from the central bus the train station and everything around, it makes for the perfect location if you visit Bergen for a weekend or more days than that. For a long or short stay, Hotel Oleana is making your accommodation as comfortable as possible. It was a home away from home for me, I would wake up and have breakfast, then shop, then return for some relaxation and waffles in the lounge of the hotel , then go out for a coffee or a movie with friends. At night there are sandwiches and salad bar, and also the chefs special which is a different meal every night along with a soup of the day, everything is included in the room rate. I find that people were more relaxed, as if eating at home, when afterwards they can sit and drink coffee and enjoy traditional desserts ( usually a selection of two every night). It is great to eat dinner like this then have your night free for drinks or party, I believe I ate there almost every single night.

You can take a longer walk if you wish to visit Bergen but everything you possibly need is a mere minutes away from your room. Coffee shops, restaurants, shops and malls, movie theaters, the very center of Bergen is at your feet. You can see the fish market at the distance when you walk out of the hotel and just around the corner you can take the Funicular that will take you up mount Fløien , one of the citys most scenic views, you don’t want to miss this! The ride on its own is amazing!

I ended up spending much more time than I thought in Hotel Oleana, mostly because of its luxurious and yet laid back atmosphere. My favorite spot was right at the lobby’s living room by the great velvet statement sofa by the fireplace. I would work on my macbook with a cup of coffee or gløgg enjoying cookies while the rest of the world went by, and even invited friends over to relax for a while before our night out.
I will be posting more about the beautiful Oleana so stay tuned for more photos and sneak peeks of my time there!
Thank you for having me Hotel Oleana, I will be sure to come back next time I am in Bergen!
