holiday glitz : Astrid & Miyu

Jewelry is one thing I only recently got into. I’ve had my ears pierced since 5th grade but didn’t regularly wear earrings until about a year ago. Now I usually have a few pairs that I just leave in. The holidays however, are the best excuse to play with sparkly things I normally would shy away from. Enter, London based Astrid & Miyu. They’ve created the ultimate line of minimal jewelry at super affordable prices so you can play without a crazy investment. Tons of great options under 50 bucks! I’ve been really into hoops lately and tried the “Golden Hour Hoops” and they’ve become my new evening go-to. Minimal and chic with just a little bling bling. I also doubled them up with the “Perfect One” hoops which are the cutest mini hoops, rightfully named. Click through to see how I styled my Astrid & Miyu picks and shop the collection.

beat the heat

Summer weather is inevitable. Although I’m not switching to little tank dresses and short short just yet, I am taking into account the warmer months ahead while shopping. I bought this little button up tee blouse from All Saints last summer and have to admit that it’s one of the most worn tops in my closet since then. The roomier fit let’s you keep things breezy May through September with minimal sweat stains. I also love that it can easily be dressed down for daytime or zooshed up for dinner. little (kick) flare

While I skipped the whole wide-leg flare denim trend over the past year…I thought I’d give the boot cut (mini flare) a go and was pleasantly surprised. I’ll never give up my skinny jeans but these are a fun alternative and look rad paired with a heel. I cut the hem and washed them because I love the look of well worn denim and felt a finished hemline with this style looks a little too “cutesy.” It needed a little edge to be more rock & roll and less Kate Middleton. Ya feel? Paired them with my favorite striped tee and this rad blue leather biker for a pop of unexpected color. What do you think? Would you rock cropped bootcut jeans??

silverlake hangs with AG

In December I moved to Silverlake after being a westside chick for the past fours years. Moving to a new neighborhood means finding all new go-to spots. Luckily having friends on the Eastside to show me around (and an extremely walkable new hood) I’ve been able to find amazing places for coffee, food, desserts, flowers and shopping. AG asked me to show how I’d style two different looks in two of my favorite go-to spots in my neighborhood. I live in jeans so this was a no brainer. Click through to see my favorite spots and how I styled AG for each.

Alcove Cafe has been a long time favorite of mine (I’d often drive across town 45 minutes for their brunch) and now that it’s literally a four minute drive from my house – I’m there multiple times a week. I was already a fan of their regular menu but let me just tell you…the dessert case?!?! Out of this world. I have a massive sweet tooth and am also a major homebody, so my boyfriend and I often swing by to pick up a few slices of cake for takeout and eat at home. I kid you not, every single cake we’ve tried has been amazing and well worth the price. I paired the vintage inspired “Phoebe” jeans with the “Blair” blouse for a look that’s put together enough to run in and grab to-go cakes and coffee and is comfy enough to lounge on the sofa eating said cakes.
Another of my go-to Silverlake spots is an amazing flower shop called Spruce. I love having flowers around my house and recently found this place when hunting for local shops with a large variety. The store is super beautiful inside and very “instagram-y” but my favorite thing is the large walk in fridge where you can select stems from a huge variety and put together your own bouquet. Everyone that works there is also extremely friendly and helpful. Since flower shopping is usually a weekend errand, I rocked denim on denim per my usual Saturday dress. I also loved the little peek of lace up detail on top which adds a dash of chic-ness to a farmers market approved ootd.

off duty with adidas nmd

Comfort and style is at the core of my personal dressing. Sneakers, along with the rise of “athleisure” dressing, have become a fundamental part of everyday style. When adidas reached out about putting my spin on styling the NMD shoe, I was all in…

blush tones

Sometimes it’s just one of those days when you wear your tee backwards and a shirt dress as a jacket. There are no rules, so why the hell not?! Like the rest of the fashion world, blush is definitely having a moment and I’m all about it. But I don’t fuck with just any shade of beige-y pink. Grandma nude nails have been my go-to for a minute. Not too nude, not too white, not too barbie pink. Blush. This tee from my favorite new brand Lacausa, is the ever-elusive shade of blush I’ve been searching for. It’s perfect and can be worn backwards with a low back (like in these pics) or with a deep scoop front layered over a lacey cami or cute bralette. Even though it’s warming up in LA, once the sun dips down you need a little somethin somethin to cover up. I opted for wearing this super soft lacausa shirtdress, open as a jacket. Paired with the coolest printed ankle booties for a little pop of edge and to lessen the norm core vibes. Hashtag spring ready

#blancstate

I think Spring is the best time of the year to hit refresh. The craziness of the holidays are far behind as is the #newyearnewme pressure. A Spring “cleanse” should cover all aspects of your life. Maybe you finally try that hot yoga studio and cut nightly dessert to weekends only (the struggle on this one is real, let me tell you.) Or maybe you clean out your drawers (aka where you throw all your junk mail) and organize your desk. Take the cleanse-mentality to your wardrobe and donate anything you haven’t worn in the past 6 months (let’s be honest, you probably won’t ever wear it.) A few weekends ago I headed out to Death Valley with the J Brand & Elsewhere team to shoot Spring looks around the idea of wearing white as a palette cleanser. I already love dressing monochromatically (hellooooo all black) but was surprised by how fresh and cool-girl white on white looked.  Click through to check out more photos from the shoot and links to shop the pieces.

snow rama in the city

Although getting here turned out to be a massive delayed nightmare yesterday, WE MADE IT. Hellooooo NY. A little late to the fashion week party but I was able to make it to the last few shows/parties of the season and have a week full of meetings ahead. I brought a cashmere blanket from restoration hardware for the flight and have ended up wearing it as a scarf since we landed shhhhh. Also gonna give away another secret…this oversized green jacket is actually mens. Not sorry bc it’s cozy af and I can fit hella layers under it. Will be making an effort to shoot everyday (key word effort) while I’m here so keep your eyes peeled for more updates! ALSO I’ve been posting tons of stuff on snapchat (username: rimarama) in case you want to follow me through the week ;)

with love

Although I’m not big into Valentines day (shouldn’t you show your love everyday??) it’s a fun excuse to dress up date night. My closet is 95% black and white so it should come as no surprise that I opted for black leather pants, a striped tee and a black faux fur chubby. Is it weird that stripes, even in b&w, feel almost like a color??? For this look my homie, makeup artist, Crystal Liz gave me a smoky eye with a twist. Red. I know what you’re thinking…”won’t that look like I have pink eye??” I’m here to debunk that myth. It looks hella cool. Paired with hella volumized hair and a neutral coral-y lip and I’m ready to survive alllll the balloons-roses-love song craziness or we might just say f*ck it and stay home with netflix. Shhhhhh. What are you wearing tonight?

rip la winter

Although I’m not really a dress girl…they’re just so goddamn easy when you’re feeling lazy (and managed to shave your legs…or not.) I paired this simple shirtdress with my favorite belt of the moment, bare legs, ruffle socks and ankle boots. I’ve also been wearing my hair in this messy-when was the last time I washed my hair-low bun/pony hybrid and love how it easily dresses down an otherwise chic outfit. Belts have quickly become my new obsession. Hella versatile and an easy way to elevate basics. I tied mine in a knot over this dress to add some cool-but not that cool vibes. What are your thoughts on shirtdresses? How would YOU wear this?

sparkly alley cat

Annnnd just like that we’re back to 75 & sunny in LA. RIP winter, I guess I’ll start shaving my legs again. In case you couldn’t tell…I’m still really into this embellished mini skirt I bought at Club Monaco last November. It’s seriously turned out to be one of my best purchases of 2015. Since the holidays are over (obvi) I wanted to breathe new lift into wearing sparkly shit IRL. Cut off sweatshirt + vintage satin bomber + ankle booties? Violá! Take any everyday-casual outfit and swap jeans for that embellished skirt you spent way too much money for the holidays. I promise it’ll look hella cool girl, do you agree??

kitten eye & overalls

So I know the whole overalls trend has come and pretty much gone BUT these are awesome so yolo, AMIRITE? I never go into the trend before because no one made a skinny jean version and I felt like baggy overalls were dumpy pre-school vibes. Violá! Madewell (of course) came up with the cool girl alternative. Dress up your overalls with a low bun and kitten eye (click through for makeup artists tips!!)  Layer a cozy cardigan over a cropped tank and pair with ankle booties and ruffle edged ankle socks to pull the look together. Dare I say this look is even date-night appropriate? Yup. #overallsFTW

Q: Tricks for doing a mini flick aka kitten eye?

A: The kitten eye is my new favorite cat eye interpretation. The key is lining the upper water line (or tightlining) before starting the flick.

Q: Gel liner vs liquid pen. What do you prefer to use?
A: As a makeup artist I don’t use a liner pen in my kit, but in my personal makeup bag I’m all about it. There’s pros and cons to both, it’s just about finding what works for you.

Q: I have almond shaped eyes so when I try to do this on myself I either look like Cleopatra or super squinty. Is there a trick for knowing what angle to draw the line??
A: Always always always draw the flick with your eye open. That way you’re not surprised when you open your eye and it’s making your eyes looks droopy or squinty

wrist game – how to rock your boos watch

As I said before, I’m not one for delicate women’s watches and prefer to wear my boos. Here are some guidelines to wearing your boyfriends watch like you DGAF. First, don’t resize. It’s oversized because it’s mens. Run with it. It should hang off your …

flick o da wrist

Although from my previous posts you can tell I rarely wear watches. Sometimes you just want to take your boos wrist bling and play. AMIRITE?? In the first of 3 posts where I borrow steal & style my bfs watches, I played with his custom pvd coated Omega speedmaster professional. (Because of course he’d have it custom coated.) Yes, I don’t wear a lot of watches but I especially hate girls watches. Why are they so small??? Do I need to be a fairy princess grandma to wear one??? Why are there always f*cking diamonds on them?? I’m all about oversized so obviously if I’m going to wear a watch…it’ll be mens. Automatic gangster swag when there’s hella expensive steel hanging on your wrist. Add a chain bracelet in the same finish? Extra points. Also, can we talk about this silk shirt & pant set???? They seriously feel like a sexy hug, double as sleep wear or you can mix and match them separately.  Also, FYI I took the belt off the pants to make a trendy little neck scarf bc Y NO. Win win.

2015 send off

Tonight’s the night!!! Bring on the sparky get ups, metallic make up and champagne showers (ok, maybe hold the showers.) For my last #ramaholiday post I wanted to end with a bang. Literally…a confetti push pop! I bought this little Club Monaco set a few months ago thinking I’ll wear a few times but have surprised myself with it’s versatility. I’ve been wearing it as separates instead of together but what better time than NYE for fun, sparkles on sparkles??? The more, the better tonight. Same goes for makeup! Take full advantage of being able to do whatever the hell you want tonight. Click through to learn how to get my silverly eye look and messy side swept hair! Thank you for reading and happy new year!!!

Q: Silvery lids are perfect for NYE. What are your favorite products to get this look?

A: I love this look for a NYE party. I used Colourpop eye shadow in Glitterati. I love their shadows because the best way to use them is to just apply with your finger. It’s like white gold on your eyes.

Q: The slight pink pop on my lips is the perfect amount of somethin somethin to avoid looking washed out with the silver. What did you use??

A: Just dab on some Cargo Cosmetics Essential Lip Color in Bombay with your fingers. Then use a highlighter on the cupids bow to make your lips really pop.

JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content.

Q: I love the side swept hair action for a different way to style my bangs while they grow out. How can I recreate this without looking too neat and school-girly?

A: Don’t worry about a perfect part. Just messily part the hair to the side and wet it with R and Co One Prep Spray and blow dry them to the side with a flat brush. Finish with a little Outerspace Hairspray if they’re being stubborn.

starry eyed and wine stained

Wine mouth seems like it’d be embarrassing and avoided at all costs, amiright?? Alas it’s quickly become a go-to holiday beauty look poppin up all over blahgs, instagram, pinterest, tumblr and the rest of the interwebs. For the second to last #ramaholiday look (ummm I can’t believe December is over what??) Crystal showed me how to embrace wine stained lips and gave me cool girl hair to match. I’m a big believer in keeping things simple when it comes to dressing, so what better NYE dress alternative than a chic little romper?! If you haven’t realized it yet…I’m obsessed with stars printed on everything so this crepe one piece is a winner. Unfortunately I waited to post these photos too long so it’s sold out everywhere :( BUT I included some cute alternatives at the end of the post.  Since it’s actually chilly in LA now, bare legs are an evening no-go unless you want to be THAT girl shivering in the corner of the party. I paired unexpected sheer dot tights with my trusty (and surprisingly comfy) Saint Laurent ankle boots for a NYE party look that’ll keep me dancing and having fun without worrying about any wardrobe malfunctions or high heel discomfort. Click through to see more pics and tips on how to recreate this beauty look on your own!

Q: Wine stained lips..how do you do it??!
A: Start with a balm like Glossier Balm Dotcom then take Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip and apply it to the center of the lip. That’s where the product should be most concentrated and just blend out!
Q: What are your favorite dark lip stains/lipsticks right this second?

JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content.

Q: This super messy half up bun is perfect (!!!) and doesn’t look like I’m replicating every chicks summer insta posts. Tips?
A: The key is the placement of the bun. A lot of people place it right on top of the head. I prefer it low, even below the occipital bone. It’s much more effortless that way.

pop fizz clink

With NYE just around the corner, it’s time to start planning your look. I’ve never really been a “party dress” kind of girl (jeans and a sparkly top are typically the extent of my going out-look) but this year I thought I’d try doing the sexy dress route and man am I feelin myself. It’s crazy how unexpectedly  sexy I felt slipping into a slinky little dress. I’m all about doing an unexpected look for evening…there’s nothing worse then seeing four girls in the same exact dress as you. Hair & makeup also make a world of difference. For this look Crystal gave me a pretty rose gold cat eye and the perfect messy low bun I will now attempt to recreate on a weekly basis. Click through to read Crystal’s tips on achieving this beauty look and shop my curated selection of unexpected NYE dresses!

Q: I’m obsessed with this unexpected twist on a cat eye. Do you have any tricks for perfecting a flick on your own?
A: I love a cat eye, especially this metallic rose gold one by Colourpop Cosmetics in Get Paid. My cat eye tip is start with the flick, and do it with your eye open. That way you can see exactly how it’s going to look. The worst is being surprised when you open your eye and see your cat eye is drooping.

JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content.
Q: I love this lip color. Any tricks for wearing coral-y colors in the winter?
A: Coral is one of those colors that looks great on pretty much everyone. Dry lips are a problem in the winter, so exfoliating (try this or this) and moisturizing is key. For a look like this use Cargo Cosmetics essential lip color in Sedona and dab on with your finger.

JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content.
Q: Ugh. This low, messy bun is everything. How’d you do it?
A: This low messy bun is so great for holiday parties. Start with a low messy ponytail and then literally tie your hair in a knot (trust me.) If you have long hair, do more knots. Then using two or three bobby pins, pin where desired. The more ends sticking out the better!

shine baby, shine

So I’ve really gotten into the holiday spirit this year and in turn have a  sliiiiight obsession with metallics now. Enter: the metallic leather legging. When paired with all black, this legging is surprisingly easy to wear and gets all the compliments. At first glance in the store they seem waaay out of my comfort zone but once I thought of ways to style the options are pretty much endless. Who knew metallic leather could play as a neutral? Click through to see more pics, shop this outfit AND get bedhead hair tips and updated smoky eye tricks from my bomb dot com beauty girl Crystal!

Q: Rose gold lids are an unexpected metallic pop and perfect for the holidays. Do you have any tips for keeping eye shadow from going everywhere when applying?
A: I’m obsessed with rose gold. For this I actually used this gel liner pencil all over the lid and just blended out the edges, no shadow needed! Try doing your eyes first before starting the rest of your makeup, then you can clean up any fallout.

Q: Favorite hair products for achieving a bedhead look?
A: Texture sprays are your best friend (not to be confused with dry shampoo). Oribe “dry texture spray,” R+Co “death valley texture spray” and Bumble & Bumble “thickening dry spun.”

Q: Tips for textured hair? I LOVE how you gave my hair the perfect amount of bend. I always seem to overdo it when I try myself and it comes out way to wavy and “done.”
A: Clean hair is your enemy if you’re going for a textured look. Also, use two different sized irons to get that lived in look.

boss b @ the partee

Tis the season for…RAMA HOLIDAY. Ok, so the caps are a little aggressive but I’m super excited to finally share my first holiday inspired look! I combined forces with bomb dot com makeup artist and hair magician, Crystal Liz, for this month’s posts! Although I’m usually super  minimal (surprise, surprise) when it comes to makeup, I low-key love experimenting and buying hoarding new products.   Click through to get some tips & tricks from Crystal, shop the products and get this look!

Q:This look oozes boss b*tch vibes. What’s the trick to doing a red lip right?
A: The first step to get a boss bitch red lip is finding your shade. Personally I’m drawn to vibrant classic blue reds. Next is taking the time to exfoliate and moisture your lips, and making sure you line them as close to perfect as possible.

Q: You made a high pony look hella chic. I feel like when I do it myself I look like a high school volleyball player. How can I make it look this good on my own?
A: For this particular pony it was all about effortless texture. To do this on yourself, flip your head over and spray Oribe Dry Texture Spray throughout. Give it a good shake and flip. Gather the pony just above the occipital bone. Make sure to leave volume on top, and pull out wispy hairs around the face

Q: You’re a skin magician and one of the few makeup artists I’ve worked with that knows how to flawlessly match foundation and make it look like there’s nothing there. Tips for DIY-ing it?
A: A good tip for color matching is don’t forget about décolletage. A lot of people focus only on matching to the neck, but alot of times your décolletage can be a different color as well – so find a happy medium. The best way to flawless makeup is to have flawless skin – and yours is damn near flawless. Which is why I go with a less is more approach. I use a tinted moisturizer (Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation) and concealer only where it’s needed.

do it denim

Levi’s is one of my favorite denim brands. Classic quality with perfect fits and washes. I recently teamed up with the rad fashion community + app, Threads, to show how I “do it denim.” I put together two looks that are comfy, casual and perfect for LA…

street sparkle

My favorite winter combo? Oversized knit with a fun little mini skirt. Add sheer black tights for perceived warmth. The perfect LA winter look…about 3 points for warmth but 1000000 for hella cool girl vibes. Not gonna lie, I got a little chilly shooting this look in NYC’s 50 degrees so maybe not the look if you freeze easily. I personally like my legs and am more self conscious of my waist/stomach so I’ve always been a fan of pairing oversized on top with a straight mini skirt. It’s a great way to de-girly a skirt and show off some leg. Anyone can pull off a sweater and jeans…a sweater and party skirt? Unicorn-rare. Now you can buy all the sparkly NYE party options you want with an ootd idea to take them into the daylight. I’m all about versatility and taking typical “night” pieces and making them wearable. Layers, people.

leather on leather on leather in new york city

Last month I was able to spend a few weeks in my favorite city and escape the LA heat. I was beyond excited to be able to layer and actually wear leather during the day. What better to pair leather pants with than a simple white tee and more leather? I felt a little over the top at first but felt all kinds of 007 cool after walking around. I actually ended up wearing the same exact outfit to the airport the following day. Nothing better than super soft leather, that looks chic and is low key comfy AF. thankful for sweater weather

It looks like Thanksgiving brought the sweater weather to LA. FINALLY. Best way to wear a chunky oversized knit? Minimal effort: messy topknot, boyfriend jeans & literally the comfiest sneakers. I love how wearing a chic colored turtleneck instantly elevates an otherwise ridiculously casual outfit. The creamy color lends itself perfectly for day to night dressing. I mean…throw it over leather leggings with some ankle booties and you’re ready for a dinner/movie date.  Click through to see more pics and also to shop my favorite under $100 sweaters. Because ain’t nobody got time for expensive sweaters when your flight home for the holidays is pushing a grand. Ayyyyoooo.

J Brand leather 4 date night

As you’ve probably seen on my instagram, I recently partnered with J Brand Jeans & Bumble App to show how I rock leather for date night. If you’ve been following me for an extended period of time, you know I’m a leather & denim fiend so this collab was the perfect match. Pun intended. Obviously I styled their awesome leather leggings in bad a**, all black fashion for super boss b*tch vibes because  bumble let’s the GIRL be the boss. back to the grind

So I’ve been in NYC the past two weeks and am pretty sure all the dessert for lunch and late night gelato “runs” are finally catching up. Is it weird to say I’m almost relieved to be heading home and back to green juices and hitting the gym? As much as I love traveling, it’s hard to stay on a healthy routine when you’re living out of a suitcase in a hotel room with no kitchen/fridge. Here’s a look I shot a few weeks back of a casual gym-to-street look. Mostly posting this as inspiration for myself and as a reminder to avoid the sweet options at JFK tomorrow afternoon. Although I’m definitely not that girl working out in just a sports bra, I do like that this jacket is kinda see through so you can show a little bit of skin and still be able to breathe without worrying what your stomach looks like. FYI I was for sure flexing in these pics but maybe the next few weeks in the gym will have me feeling less marshmallow-y.  (Side note: Magnolia Bakery icebox cake is the best thing I’ve ever eaten, recipe here. Make this immediately and thank me later)

one piece for the win

Why didn’t I try out jumpsuits earlier??? You can seriously be dressed & out the door in 15 seconds flat. This super rad denim one from Urban Outfitters is the comfiest thing ever AND looks super cool with a classic motorcycle jacket thrown over. I love how versatile jumpsuits are…wear with sneakers for a day full of errands or throw on some sexy heels and a cat eye for a hot night out. How would YOU wear this??

sporty af

Sometimes I just want to wear gym clothes. Not because I’m going to workout (lol) but because I’m lazy and don’t want to bother doing my hair or putting on jeans. I mean…spandex shorts, a comfy sweatshirt and sneakers are pretty much the comfiest combo, ever. Am I right??? Also, this look works best on the dirtiest hair days because you can throw it up in a messy top knot and it just looks like you’re very serious about your gym routine. Little does anyone know…you’ve haven’t washed your hair in a week and have zero plans of getting sweaty today. Shhhhh

vans a make her dance

I’m a sucker for tomboy shit so I basically pee’d my pants when the bomb dot com team at Vans sent over this personalized teal bomber. At first I was like “oh cool, a bomber” but then I saw Rima embroidered on the front (AND back!) and have basically worn it everyday since. Although you can’t order it personalized directly from Vans…you can get it through my little sister who can embroider just about anything.

Alexx Jae & Milk

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting a little something something for Alexx Jae and Milk.  I played around all day in super comfy basics with true Rima Rama styling…aka denim, ankle booties, lots of BLACK, sunnies and bandanas. Can’t wait for this gross heat to die down so I can finally wear these looks irl. Click through to see some of my favorite photos from the shoot and shop new AJM arrivals here!

warmer

Yup, it’s mid October and it’s still hot out. 100 degrees this past weekend?? Ew is about all I have to say at this point. I’ve been really into skirts lately (mainly because jeans make my butt sweaty) and this suede mini from Zara has been my jam. It’s super soft suede leather and feels like an $800 skirt, while it’s only 99 bucks. Score. I’m stoked to rock this into cooler weather with a pair of semi sheer black tights and a turtleneck.

#sockswithsandals

Tevas are comfy af and perfect for summer. How can we keep that party going, now that summer’s officially over? SOCKS. Although it’s not quite sweater weather yet adding an extra layer; denim jacket & socks, feel “fall.” Yeah I’l admit, it feelt a little weird and dorky to rock socks with sandals at first. Comfort level? THREE THOUSAND. Would you do it?

still hot

Apparently no amount of wishing for sweater weather is gonna work. It’s still hot. Ugh. Well, I guess I’ll finally give in and wear a crop top instead of being miserable. I’m seriously sweating at my desk while I type this with a massive fan from target pointed at my face. Only jeans appropriate for this weather? Boyfriends. Heading to hot yoga in a minute because I might as well fully embrace this heat and shower later. Byeeeeee

heat wave

Just when we thought the summer heat was over…boom. 90 degrees and humid AF. Ugh. I’m seriously out of hot weather ideas and have been wearing the same thing for the past few days. It’s almost too hot for denim on denim but I’m doing it anyway. Paired this little Rails chambray top with loose cropped skinnies. I’ll admit I’d rather be wearing ankle boots but ain’t nobody got time for sweaty feet. I’ll stick to birks for the rest of the week and pray it cools down soon. Where’s the sweater weather at??!

easy & oversized

When it’s hot as mother f*cker outside and you find yourself ducking into a starbucks every ten minutes (mostly for the AC) it’s time to ditch the jeans and slip into something easy & oversized. Enter the NYTT tee dress. End of summer dressing, solved. Just pair with some comfy sneakers and a little cross body bag and you’re good to go. Oversized tee dresses for the win.

icy

Sometimes…a body con dress happens. Although I’m pretty sure this is a Fire on the Head first, my love for pairing oversized tops with a skinny bottom is nothing new. I’ve never been into body con dresses (surprise, surprise) but this simple ribbed tank one is kinda perfect. Not too short and not too tight. Although I don’t normally wear a bra anyway, this dress keeps everything supported. Including the booty. Threw this super cool (and cozy as f*ck) knit on top to ease into the idea of wearing something tight. Who would’ve thought…body con on this blog?!? I’m ok with it.

Denim, crazy

I’m a denim girl, through and through. Be it in the form of a jacket, shirt, pant, baseball hat(it exists and I own it) or bralette; I’ll take it all. When AG jeans asked me to style my favorite pieces from Alexa Chung’s latest collection I was like oh you mean my style/hair/life inspo? That Alexa Chung?  Plus denim? Hell yes. I choose to pair these cool, cropped straight leg jeans with a jacket in the same shade. Broke up the denim-onepiece look with this cool hunter green knit tee and tied it at the waist to show a little skin. Sexin up a canadian tux and what have you. Am I Alexa Chung now or what

#rimaroma part due

Oh hey, remember when I went to Rome last month? Here’s another outfit post from my trip. We just happened to visit during a (relatively) cooler week and missed the super hot temps. Low to mid 80’s all week meant I could get away with a denim jacket during the day. I loved this little dress from Aritzia as it fit loose throughout the body, keeping me cool. Both literally and figuratively. Paired with my sparkly Isabel Marant sneakers for major euro-tourist vibes. Can’t wait to go back!

sunny with a side of leather

I’m all about day to night dressing. And by “day to night,” I mean wearing the exact same outfit and throwing on a leather jacket. Who has time to go home and change?? LA summers are all about super hot days and (relatively) chilly evenings. The solution? Wear a light-weight tank during the day and keep a leather jacket in your trunk for dinner/drinks/night adventures. You’ll stay just warm enough and look hella cool after the sun goes down.

denim kind of fourth

Although the fourth of July has never really been a holiday I get into, I definitely had a great weekend. Fireworks, summer nights & BBQ? You can’t go wrong. I kept it simple and opted to stick to my favorite, denim, instead of embracing the red & whites. Side note. How did I miss the Madewell denim train?? These are my new favorite jeans. That’s seriously saying something considering the amount of skinnies I currently have folded in my closet (32!?!) Also picked up these little heeled sandals while I was in the store and have been wearing them everyday since. Super comfy to wear all day while adding the right amount of “chic-ness” to an otherwise casual outfit.

so it’s summer

Although I think I’ve expressed my distaste for summer dressing let me repeat myself. I actually hate dressing for summer. I feel most comfortable in skinny jeans, sweaters and ankle boots. Black on black on black is kind of my style mantra. Although I’ll usually take a little sweat action if it means I can wear my favorite pieces, this becomes a bit of an issue when it feels like mid 90’s in the sun and jeans just aren’t an option. I know these little denim skirts are v trendy right now but I couldn’t help myself. Its super cute and was only fifty bucks. I figured, if I can’t wear skinny jeans, at least I can sneak denim into my summer wardrobe in the form of a mini skirt that just happens to be the perfect rise to pair with cropped tops.

denim summer

I need to start wearing more dresses. They’re an easy, no-fuss, one and done. This little denim number by Sam & Lavi, via my new friends at zebraclub.com, is the perfect summer staple. Denim & a looser, bf fit makes it a great day to night option that looks just as cool with sneakers as it does with heeled ankle booties. Maybe I’ll actually enjoy dressing for summer this year….maybe

Forever Faded in hemp denim

When my friend Rachel told me that the hemp denim company she’s been working with released a limited run denim jacket I jumped at the chance to check it out. Hemp/organic cotton blend, this jacket is the perfect wash and mid-weight denim. Perfect for summer evenings in LA thrown over a little tank and skinnies. You already know I’m already a huge denim chick but make it sustainable too?? Sold.

denim days

I love a good Canadian tuxedo. Maybe because I am from Toronto but most likely because it’s easy and looks hella cool. Rails is one of my favorite button down brands because every piece is super soft, especially this denim shirt. Although I’d normally pair this top with black skinnies (booooring, I know) I decided to get with the summer season and wear my trusty levis cutoffs. I found this vintage pair a while back in a pile of random sh*t at a yard sale. They fit a little big but I’m into it as it feels much more “cool-girl” than the levis booty shorts I’m starting to see again. Sun’s out doesn’t always have to mean buns out….

bum vibes

Major case of the Mondays calls for baggy bf jeans & a comfy sweater. I’ve been super into these destroyed boyfriend jeans. They have just the right amount of slouch and distressing. I paired them with this simple crop tank, black slides and THE comfiest knit cardigan. Yeah, I’m throwing major bum vibes but idgaf because this outfit makes me feel like the weekend never left.

blue jeans, white shirt

Well the up side to spraining my ankle on set Friday means I can finally get to the emails I’ve been lagging on and can also get some new posts up, being couch ridden is awesome! (that’s sarcasm, fyi) So as you can tell from instagram…I’ve been wearing a lot of black lately, BUT these reworked vintage levis by ReDone have got me back on blue. I love that they’re very stiff denim and are the perfect true-blue color. Kept it simple (duh) with a tee-blouse and sneaks cuz I like to pretend I’m a minimal-queen. Lol

the basics

Simpler is better, especially when it comes to summer dressing. I dread hot weather because I’m not the biggest fan of tank tops, shorts…not being able to wear black (the list goes on.) Although I use this rule everyday, “keep it simple” is the only way I can handle summer. Since I’m not the biggest fan of the standard summer uniform, I paired this lightweight cotton blouse with thin denim baggies for a cool and chic look. I know it almost errs on the side of boring, but it’s a total win when you can look chic (and feel comfortable) all day and well into a hot summer evening. What’s your summer go-to ootd??
