How to dress down anything
The minimalist is multi-purposing obsessed, and yours truly lives by the axiom of never buying an outfit to be worn just once, or a piece of clothing that can only serve one purpose. Without exception, this applies to the work uniform, prom gown, wedding dresses, and, it goes without saying, fancy dress costumes. Making the most dressy pieces work for day is all in the styling.
How to dress down anything (I mean anything)? It’s all relative – the dressier the item, the more casual your other pieces should be. Wear your tailored suit jacket with ripped jeans, pull a slouchy sweatshirt over your prom dress, and your most comfortable trainers will dress down any evening gown (add a mini leather backpack for maximum effect). As for me, I’ve paired my decadent lace skirt by Perth label Bruug with an oversized Adidas Trefoil tee and classic Converse sneakers.
