Céline have taken up residence in a new home in Paris, the Hôtel Colbert de Torcy on rue Vivienne, close to the Palais-Royal. The new building has brought together all the Céline offices across Paris in one beautiful space. The building required complete internal renovation to bring it back to its former glory, this was overseen by Creative Director Phoebe Philo and CEO Marco Gobbetti.
“This is home, basically,” says Gobbetti. “Our project has been about building a house more than a brand. From that point of view, this building represents the foundation and where we come from. It is solid with an element of timelessness.”
Philo’s incredible attention to detail has been reapplied in her considered choice for the interiors. There’s the continuity of the Italian marble marquetry floor that has been seen in both the New York SoHo store and London’s Mount Street store, chairs by German architect Egon Eiermann and British designer Robin Day, and a huge brass chandelier by FOS.
“I believe in things being beautifully made but at the same time practical,” says Philo. “We work in a detailed and thorough manner. I like the process to have an ease, allowing for things to unfold as we go along.”
