This quintessential Sydney workers cottage known as The Paddington Project, has been renovated by multidisciplinary architecture studio CM Studio (also based in Sydney). It was founded by Christopher Glanville and Megan Burns in 2012. Their style is aesthetically quite minimalist but they create spaces that are also very liveable.

This narrow building is bright throughout, natural light floods in through large windows in the bedrooms and the full width folding patio doors at the back of the house. The kitchen cabinets, splashback and worktop continue on the other side of the doors, helping to connect the garden with the kitchen and dining area, as well as bring the outside in.

The soft palette of white, grey and natural wood creates harmony and continuity throughout the minimalist house. Carrara marble has been used in the kitchen for the splashback, in the living room as a harth and floor-to-ceiling in the bathroom’s incredible double shower. Wide wooden floorboards have been used on every floor creating a warmth that contrasts with the clinical white walls.

CM Studio have collaborated with Living Edge on The Paddington Project. Living Edge have provided the stunning contemporary furniture seen throughout from brands including e15, Louis Poulsen, Muuto and Vitra.
